Chapter 704 - Chapter 704

Saitama blinked, looking from one person to the next. He couldn't understand those complicated energy readouts, but he could absolutely feel the tension in the room—and the weight behind his teammates' words.

He clenched his fist, his knuckles letting out a soft crack.

"So basically… we beat the small ones, and now the big ones might show up? And it won't be just one?" He tilted his head. "That's annoying…"

Then he added, as if it didn't matter at all:

"But whatever. It's all the same."

His tone was calm, yet it carried a strange steadiness that settled people down.

Fury took a deep breath. "Yes, Mr. Saitama. A greater crisis may already be descending in places we can't even perceive yet. We have to move immediately and figure out the connection behind all of this."

The lab sprang back into motion. But this time, the objective wasn't simply studying a single object—it was preparing for an unknown disaster that could sweep across the entire planet.

Saitama's eyes drifted back to the cube. There was less confusion in his gaze now, and more focus.

Over the next few hours, S.H.I.E.L.D. and the sorcerers of Kamar-Taj worked at full capacity. With the data from the global monitoring network and Doctor Strange's powerful arcane tracking spells, the chaotic energy traces were finally combed into something coherent. Every thread of evidence converged on a single target—

South America.

Deep in the Amazon rainforest.

A region that had never been marked on any modern map.

"Coraca Ruins," Strange said, pointing to a location on an unfurled ancient magic map. Dense green swallowed the spot, surrounded by skull symbols marking extreme danger and twisted arcane runes. "A sacred site of an ancient civilization long since wiped out. They worshiped the power of the stars and the abyss. Inside the ruins is a kind of ancient magical force known as the 'Source of the Heart'—extremely powerful, and extremely dangerous. If a dark demon-god wants to revive, the power there would be a perfect catalyst."

"We leave immediately," Fury decided. "We have to control the situation before the enemy gets there—or at least figure out what their plan is."

A compact strike team was assembled at once.

Saitama was the absolute main combat force.

Doctor Strange handled magical support and navigation.

Wanda brought chaos magic, a potent weapon against darkness.

And they added Spider-Man agile enough to handle complex terrain, plus Hawkeye for long-range support and tactical cover.

The Quinjet slid silently into the airspace above the Amazon basin. After getting as close to the target as possible, the team chose to rappel down into the green hell below.

Heat and humidity wrapped around them instantly. Towering ancient trees blotted out the sky, and the calls of strange creatures rang out from every direction.

Strange floated ahead, using magic to carve a path and sense their direction. Wanda carefully drove off swarms of exotic insects—some of them aggressively poisonous—with controlled bursts of energy. Peter swung between trees on weblines, handling aerial reconnaissance. Hawkeye watched the surroundings with sharp vigilance, arrow ready to fly at any moment.

Saitama walked in the middle of the team with long, easy strides, looking almost casual—yet his calm eyes were quietly taking in everything around them.

"Watch out!" Strange suddenly warned.

Ahead, a stretch of swamp that looked completely ordinary began to boil. The mud surged up and transformed into countless black hands, reaching for them!

Wanda snapped her hand outward. A scarlet energy barrier rose instantly, blocking the grasping sludge. Peter fired a webline onto a distant tree and yanked—pulling Hawkeye back onto solid ground just as he was about to sink.
