Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 – Coffee and Contradictions

We met that afternoon at a small café near campus to discuss our project.

I had a notebook filled with bullet points, timelines, and strategy outlines. River showed up with nothing but his camera and a half-eaten cookie.

"This isn't going to work if you're not prepared," I told him.

He tilted his head. "Maybe your definition of prepared is different from mine."

"And what's yours?"

He raised the camera and snapped a photo before I could react. "This."

I blinked. "That's not an answer."

"It is," he said with a soft smile. "You plan the story. I'll find the pieces no one else sees."

I wanted to argue, but when I looked at the photo — my own face caught off guard, lit by sunlight through the window — I didn't have the words.
