Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

Lucy's mind was in a complete mess, but Isabella showed a victorious smile behind Eisner.

In her previous life, she had been tortured to the brink of death. Now, just because she didn't want to go through hell again, was she considered to have violated the rules in Eisner's eyes?

Eisner called someone to carry out the army - stick beatings. When the person saw that it was Lucy who was going to be beaten, he couldn't help but plead for mercy.

"Boss, 99 army - stick beatings are the punishment for those who betray the gang. This is Lucy, who has fought side - by - side with us through life - and - death situations. Isn't 99 beatings too much?"

Eisner's voice was cold and gloomy, "Too much? Then make it 120 beatings. Add another charge of 'instigating gang members to plead for mercy'. If anyone else pleads for mercy, add more."

"Beat her properly. If you miss a beat or don't hit hard enough, you have to start all over again."

When Lucy was dragged and laid on the army - stick execution platform, her thoughts drifted far away.

So far away that it was the day when she chased after Eisner into the deep mountains.

When he first saw her, Eisner was very impatient, but still took her in out of respect for her brother.

The army sticks fell one after another, mercilessly hitting her body.

Those past events also flashed through Lucy's mind one by one like a slideshow.

On her 20th birthday, she bought herself a birthday cake and shamelessly asked Eisner to accompany her to celebrate her birthday.

In the dark cave in the early morning, by the faint light of the birthday candles, she stared directly into his eyes and made a wish.

"My birthday wish is to be with Eisner."

After the candles went out, in the darkness of the room, she boldly kissed his lips.

Eisner's breath was like the cold fir in winter nights. His lips were cold and thin, just like the heartless men described in the books.

That night, Eisner pressed her under him and they spent the night together.

Life at the werewolf base was dull and monotonous. Eisner taught her how to shoot and how to use weapons.

When there were missions, he took her with him.

When there were no missions, he accompanied her whole - heartedly on the big bed in the cave.

Every time they went on a mission, he trusted her completely and entrusted his back to her.

In order to take good care of his safety, Lucy, who had been raised as a young lady by the Atlant family before the age of 20, had developed hard calluses on her hands and feet in the five years of accompanying Eisner.

She finally grew into the strong and self - protecting Lucy he had always talked about.

After 120 army - stick beatings.

The five - year past, more than 1,900 days and nights, flashed through Lucy's mind.

When her body rolled off the army - stick execution platform, a tear from the corner of her eye also fell into the dust.

The tear and the dust returned to the earth, just like the more than 1,900 days and nights between her and Eisner, all disappearing.

She stumbled to get up but couldn't stand steadily and fell back to the ground.

Isabella came over to help her, but was pushed away forcefully by her.

"Get out of the way!"

Eisner pulled Isabella back and said coldly, "Don't go. Your kindness will only be taken for granted by her."

"She was just spoiled at home since childhood. Let her reflect on her own. When she figures it out, she won't be so wanton."

"But Lucy looks like a little werewolf that has been abandoned."

"Isabella, you can't be so kind anymore. You don't need to pity her."

Lucy didn't say a single word of refutation. She lay on the ground and watched as Eisner led Isabella out of her sight.

It wasn't until another werewolf member of the base helped her up and took her to an empty room to apply medicine.

"The boss really laid it on thick. Lucy, why didn't you plead with him? If you had pleaded, he would have softened his heart and you wouldn't have suffered so much."

Lucy sneered, "It's useless."

In her previous life, she had knelt on the ground and kowtowed, begging him to spare her family and herself, but she never got him to look back.

In this life, Lucy would never plead with Eisner again.
