"Flying Thunder God, huh? Not bad."
Shiranami tilted his head slightly, a charming smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
He seemed quite pleased with the nickname.
Redfield and Douglas Bullet had both come to stand beside him, their faces flashing with disbelief, excitement, and a chaotic mix of other emotions.
Even the ever-grumpy Crocodile couldn't help but be impressed by Shiranami's strength.
Shiranami, of course, understood. It wasn't just them, even he was startled by how terrifying he'd become.
He gently pressed his hands downward, and the wave of cheering slowly faded.
"If anyone wants to escape, follow behind us. Whether you make it out or not depends on yourselves."
With that, he wasted no more time and marched boldly forward.
"Holy crap, am I seeing this right?! Behind the Flying Thunder God… that's Bullet and Crocodile! And, wait, is that the Red Count?!"
A sharp-eyed prisoner cried out in shock.
"Yeah! I got a good look too, it really is them!"
"What are we waiting for?! Let's move! You'll never see a prison break lineup like this again in ten lifetimes!"
"Exactly! Miss this chance and you'll never get out of here!"
With that, the electrifying scene from moments ago was instantly cast aside. Everyone understood, if they wanted even the slightest shot at escape, they had to follow this living legend closely!
The crowd surged forward like a tidal wave. People pushed and shoved, desperate not to fall behind. Losing even a second at the start would be like gambling away everything you owned, no one was willing to lag behind.
In the surveillance room, Magellan clutched his still-bleeding wound, beads of cold sweat rolling down his face as he stared at the monitors in disbelief.
"This is freaking ridiculous… Shiryu got one-shotted?!"
Fear.
Real, bone-deep fear.
For the first time in decades, Magellan felt terror, and not just from anyone, but from a kid who hadn't even turned twenty.
Send an Admiral! Now!
Panicking, he grabbed the transponder snail and immediately called Sengoku.
"What?! Shiryu was killed in a single slash?!"
Sengoku's eyes went wide. He could hardly believe it was really Magellan on the line.
Even if Redfield himself attacked, it shouldn't have been possible to kill Shiryu in one blow!
This was bad. This was beyond bad.
"How the hell does a monster like that even exist?!"
After hanging up, Sengoku spat out a rare curse. Calm and composed as he usually was, it was almost unheard of for him to lose his temper like that.
"It's time for a full nationwide draft. The Navy's strength needs serious reinforcement."
He stared off into the distance, eyes dark and unreadable.
Heavy worry settled in his gaze, and a few strands of silver suddenly appeared among his jet-black hair.
If he were being honest, he had already seen the writing on the wall. Even if Kizaru himself showed up, there was no guarantee they could contain that boy. Redfield alone was already a nightmare to deal with, and now he was joined by someone who possibly surpassed him. On top of that, there was Bullet and Crocodile, two other high-level powers assisting.
This wasn't just a bad day, it was going to be a national embarrassment.
With a heavy heart, Sengoku turned to the door and shouted:
"Tell Aokiji to cut his vacation short, and Red Dog, er, Akainu! Get him back from the New World immediately!"
At the front gates of Impel Down.
Led by Shiranami, a mob of over a thousand prisoners charged forward in full force.
Magellan stared at the collapsed jailer beasts, the cries of wounded guards and Marines ringing in his ears.
He was drenched in sweat, his gaze shifting uneasily toward four terrifying silhouettes joining the battlefield.
And of course, what he feared most, happened.
No one dared approach Shiranami. In the middle of the chaos, he walked calmly, at ease, as if strolling through a peaceful garden. A light smile rested on his face as he casually made his way toward Magellan.
The guards had already seen what he could do, either from the surveillance footage or from overheard fragments of his call with Sengoku.
Add to that the presence of Bullet, Crocodile, and Redfield, all gathered at his side, and who would be stupid enough to charge in?
So, everyone simply pretended not to see him. They turned their attention to the rest of the prisoners and fought with everything they had.
Not slacking off, sir! Just too many prisoners to deal with! Definitely not scared!
Magellan knew exactly what was going on, and couldn't help but give a pained smile.
Damn it. If I weren't the warden, I'd pretend not to see that monster too.
"Warden! How have you been? Long time no see. Still in good health, I hope?"
Hearing Shiranami's teasing tone, Magellan wanted to dig a hole and crawl into it.
But duty was duty. He wasn't someone who slacked off or chased fame without substance.
He braced himself, preparing to charge even if it meant certain death. If he could take down even one of them, he'd die with no regrets.
But then, Deputy Warden Domino suddenly stepped forward and blocked his path.
She shouted,
"Don't be arrogant! Evil will never triumph over justice!"
Meanwhile, Hannyabal covered his eyes and sighed.
"Ahhh, what a waste… Why'd you stop him? If Magellan died, I could've taken his spot as warden! Huh? Wait, did I say that out loud? No one heard that, right?"
The entire battlefield froze.
A chorus of voices erupted in unison:
"We all heard you!"
The deafening roar made Hannyabal's mouth twitch.
Seriously? Did they have to yell like that?
Just then, the massive gates out at sea slowly creaked open.
Four grand, majestic Marine battleships sailed into view.
Magellan and the other guards lit up with joy, reinforcements!
They squinted into the distance. At the bow of each ship stood a Vice Admiral, Onigumo, Momonga, Bastille, and Strawberry. Their cloaks bearing the word "Justice" flapped heroically in the wind. Behind them, rows of elite Marines stood at attention, armed to the teeth.
"Heh, looks pretty impressive," Shiranami said, smirking.
"One each. That work?"
Three figures stepped up behind him.
"No problem."
As soon as the words left their lips,
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Three sonic booms split the air.
Bullet, Crocodile, and Redfield launched themselves forward like cannonballs, picking their targets and diving into battle.
Shiranami shrugged.
"Speed's nice and all, but what matters is how fast you finish."
With a lazy grin, he rushed toward the last remaining Vice Admiral.
During that momentary window, with the battlefield now missing its four most terrifying monsters, the guards quickly took the opportunity to carry Magellan away for treatment.
Truth be told, Magellan had been running on fumes for a while. The only thing keeping him upright was sheer willpower. Getting him to continue fighting at this point was just impossible.
At the same time, the four Vice Admirals still standing on their ships were proudly striking heroic poses,
Only to find the prisoners weren't retreating at all.
Instead, they were charging straight at them.
The Vice Admirals were caught completely off guard.
"What's going on?! Since when are prisoners this aggressive?!"
"Wait, who's supposed to be arresting who here?! Are we chasing them, or are they chasing us?! I don't even know anymore!"
Bastille and Strawberry stood dumbfounded.
