Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Merus Makes His Move

Broly was clutching his head, his expression twisted in growing pain.

Ize glanced sideways at him.

You tore me in half, and now you look like you're suffering? Is that your way of mourning?

But the next moment, Ize suddenly noticed Broly change direction and charge straight toward Ken and Jaco.

"Run!" Ken barely got the word out before he took off like a rocket.

His voice still echoed in place, but the man himself was long gone.

Jaco: "…"

He turned his head and saw Ken vanish into the distance after just a few flickers of movement. A herd of stampeding wildebeests might as well have trampled Jaco's heart.

You little—!

How the hell are you so fast? Are you even human?!

Then Jaco saw Broly barreling straight toward him with terrifying momentum, and his soul nearly left his body. He immediately fled in a panic.

But as he flew, he noticed something horrifying—Broly was chasing him specifically.

Jaco wanted to cry.

Why are you after me?! Go chase that guy Ken instead!

As Broly got dangerously close, Jaco pulled off a desperate spin in mid-air and shouted behind him, "Broly! I'm your dad!!"

Broly paused slightly. His eyes flickered blankly as he once again clutched his head and let out a series of pained howls.

Taking the opportunity, Jaco zipped into the spaceship and grabbed his tools to fix the hatch.

Gotta get this door fixed ASAP and get the hell out of this nightmare.

That guy's totally lost it.

Meanwhile, Broly, clutching his head, began wildly punching and kicking into the vacuum of space, swinging in every direction with no coordination at all.

Whoosh!

Ken suddenly streaked in from a distance, and a wave of Divine ki enveloped Broly.

"Broly, wake up," Ken called out.

Broly's pupils kept shifting—sometimes vacant, sometimes hollow, sometimes clear, and sometimes sorrowful. They flickered erratically like a broken screen.

Ten seconds later—

"RAAAHHHH!!"

Broly let out another anguished roar and charged at Ken again.

Then, he launched a furious barrage of attacks.

Ken didn't fight back directly. Instead, he used Ultra Instinct to dodge each attack effortlessly, keeping his eyes closed as he weaved through the chaos.

After one full minute—

Huff… huff…

Broly was gasping heavily, exhausted to the core.

"This is troublesome," Ken muttered, shaking his head. "My Divine ki isn't strong enough to fully calm a Super Saiyan like him… We're in serious trouble. Better pray for luck."

Jaco: "…"

This guy's speed is insane. He's actually dodging Broly's attacks?

But what's the point of dodging? The moment he gets hit, it's over.

Are you seriously dodging for your life while chatting like it's nothing?

"Is that hatch fixed yet? You're seriously slow," Ken called over to Jaco.

"Almost done!" Jaco responded quickly.

But just speaking was enough to draw Broly's attention.

He turned and looked directly at Jaco.

Jaco's face went ghost-white—he looked like death warmed over.

You can't see me, you can't see me…

And maybe Jaco's prayers actually worked, because Broly lost interest and turned back to Ken, growling in frustration at the man he just couldn't land a hit on.

RAAAHHHH!!

Broly once again charged Ken and resumed his relentless assault.

In deep space...

A Galactic Patrol spaceship was rapidly approaching the area.

Inside were two individuals: Merus and Irico.

The two quickly noticed what was going on ahead.

"Officer Merus! That's Officer Jaco's spaceship!" Irico shouted.

"Yes," Merus nodded, his eyes scanning the scene ahead.

"There are two people fighting up there," Irico added, pointing off to the side.

Merus also saw Ken and Broly's ongoing battle.

But when Merus observed Ken's movement technique, he couldn't help but gasp in surprise.

"Wait… is that… Ultra Instinct?"

"What?" Irico turned, not quite catching what Merus had just said.

"It's… it's nothing…" Merus replied, though his eyes widened even further in disbelief.

"We don't see Frieza's son Ize. Did he already leave?" Irico scratched his head, wondering aloud.

"How can it be Ultra Instinct? What's going on here?" Merus muttered softly.

"What's wrong, Officer Merus?" Irico asked, puzzled. "What did you just say?"

"It's nothing. Don't worry about the details," Merus replied with a faint smile. He quickly refocused his gaze on Ken, who was still dodging Broly's attacks with flawless movement.

After a brief pause—

Merus made up his mind.

He quickly put on his oxygen mask.

"Eh? Officer Merus, what are you doing?" Irico asked.

"It's obvious—out of the two of them, the one with golden hair has completely lost control," Merus explained as he geared up. "I'm going in to help."

"But that's the vacuum of space! You've got to be extremely careful, Officer Merus!" Irico warned, clearly worried.

Merus didn't answer. He opened the spaceship hatch, turned around, and gave Irico a thumbs-up with a confident smile.

Then, flames ignited from his boots and he blasted toward the battlefield where Ken and Broly were clashing.

As he neared Broly, Merus stretched out his hand—and from his arm, a giant net suddenly launched outward.

"Excuse me, coming through," Merus called out to Ken.

Ken immediately sidestepped out of the way.

Whoosh!

The black net expanded and wrapped tightly around Broly.

Trapped in the net, Broly began thrashing and struggling wildly.

But Merus's net seemed to be made from some special material. No matter how hard Broly raged or how much power he poured out, he couldn't break free—in fact, the more he fought it, the tighter the net constricted.

"Thanks," Ken nodded to Merus with appreciation.

But Merus was busy examining Ken from head to toe, completely puzzled.

"You are…?" Merus asked.

"I'm Ken," he replied without turning his head. Then he looked toward Broly and called out, "Broly, wake up. It's dinner time."

White light flickered in Broly's eyes, flashing continuously.

"Is he your friend?" Merus asked.

"Yes. He lost control for a bit," Ken nodded.

"This transformation of his is overflowing with tremendous power—it's what caused his mind to spiral out of control. As long as the transformation is undone, he should return to normal," Merus said with a reassuring smile.
