Chapter 4 - Happy Street

With Black Kis's fall, the numerous Marine soldiers surrounded the remaining pirates.

"Drop your weapons, hands on your head, and squat down!"

The remaining pirates exchanged glances and, out of cowardice, dropped their weapons.

Their own Captain had been cut down by someone, so not surrendering was no different from seeking death.

A tall man wearing a cloak approached Allen and said helplessly, "Colonel Allen, why did you kill another Devil Fruit user?"

Just as he was about to continue speaking, Allen immediately interrupted him.

"Alright, alright... Vist, I just couldn't hold back for a moment."

The person's name was Vist, currently a Lieutenant Commander in the 104th Branch, and Allen's adjutant. He usually handled all the major and minor affairs.

Of course, Allen wouldn't tell Vist, 'I just accidentally did it on purpose.'

The rewards for killing and defeating are very different, you know.

Apparently, Allen had done this more than once.

Facing Allen's reaction, Vist could only helplessly rub his temples.

"I have to explain it to Fleet Admiral Sengoku again..."

Allen's achievements were numerous, but he always left no survivors. Because of this, Sengoku, who had not yet become Fleet Admiral, had talked to Allen more than once.

Although Sengoku didn't care about the pirates' lives, Devil Fruit users were different.

After a Devil Fruit user dies, the Devil Fruit reappears in the sea, so Marines always choose to send Devil Fruit users to Impel Down.

Therefore, facing Allen, who had many achievements but always suppressed pirates with thunderous force, Sengoku felt both love and hate.

He seemed to see Sakazuki's shadow in him.

Allen simply ignored his adjutant's complaints.

"I'll leave the rest to you. Brothers, it's still the old rule here."

Vist also nodded.

The 'old rule' was something Allen implemented after becoming the highest commander of the 104th Branch: 50% of the spoils of war obtained by members participating in combat would be distributed among the brothers.

If you want your subordinates to risk their lives for you, you can't be stingy.

Allen walked towards the crowd who were watching from behind, and cheers immediately erupted from the crowd.

"Long live Colonel Allen!"

"Colonel Allen is so handsome, I want to bear your children!"

..."Thank you, Colonel Allen."

"Yes, yes, if it weren't for Colonel Allen, we would have been in grave danger today."

Allen showed no arrogance towards the civilians and greeted them cordially.

"Alright everyone, the heinous pirates have been brought to justice! You can all disperse now."

Hearing this, the crowd slowly dispersed. Just as most of the crowd had left, a small pink-haired girl remained standing.

Allen recognized her at a glance; it was little Tina, whom he had saved a few minutes earlier.

Allen slowly approached little Tina, crouched down, and gently ran a large hand through her pink hair.

"You're Tina, right...?"

Now he had time to properly observe Tina in front of him.

Tina had long pink hair and wore a tattered white dress. Although she was only eleven or twelve, she was indeed a beauty.

Facing Allen's head pat, Tina immediately closed her eyes, indicating she felt very comfortable.

Soon, Tina reacted, her cheeks flushed, and she immediately bowed to Allen.

"B-big brother, thank you for saving Tina."

Allen looked at the soft and adorable loli in front of him and couldn't help but feel in a good mood.

"Hmm... Big brother is a Marine, protecting you all is what I should do."

King Navistar, far away in the palace, would say, 'That's not what you said when you asked me for money!'

Tina stared at Allen with sparkling eyes and said very firmly, "Tina wants to become a Marine like big brother in the future!"

Looking at the serious-faced Tina, Allen gave her another head pat.

"Then it's a promise, if Tina wants to be a Marine in the future, come to the 104th Branch and find me."

Looking at the cute little Tina in front of him, Allen, of course, had no other intentions.

After all, that would be too criminal.

"Mmm-hmm..." Tina nodded firmly.

Then she chose to say goodbye.

Watching Tina turn her head to look back every few steps she took, Allen also smiled.

Soon after,

Vist came up behind Allen.

"Colonel Allen, all remaining pirates have been escorted onto the warship, and Black Kis's pirate ship has been impounded!"

"Then notify everyone, we're getting off work early today." Allen stretched his neck.

Vist immediately asked, "What about the pirates on the ship?"

Allen, however, didn't care in the slightest.

"They're just a few pirates with no bounties; if they run, they run."

In the Grand Line, bounties were originally rewards for capture, but in the eyes of pirates, they became a symbol of strength and status.

Vist looked speechless but still chose to obey the order.

He couldn't understand how he ended up with such an irresponsible superior.

Although his superior was sometimes unreliable.

But he dared to say that since Allen took office, the salaries at the 104th Branch were definitely the highest, even higher than headquarters, and the pensions were ridiculously high, twice that of headquarters.

The firearms, sabers, and warships used were all of the highest quality.

When there was nothing to do, he would always mingle with the soldiers.

Therefore, the soldiers of the 104th Branch were extremely obedient to Allen's orders.

Allen directly hooked Vist with one hand and whispered in his ear, "Tonight... want to go to Happy Street with me?"

Vist was initially a little excited, then seemed to remember something and immediately wilted.

"N-no, not really. My family has been keeping a close eye on me lately... If I come home with any smell or late, I'll be found out immediately."

Allen patted his chest and gave him a look.

"Today, Adjutant Vist needs to investigate the whereabouts of a pirate crew with me!"

Vist immediately understood and gave him a grateful look.

"Your subordinate obeys!"

Seeing that the excuse was ready, Vist also began to pour out his grievances.

Ever since he got married, he hadn't had a single taste of 'meat'.

That night,

Ror Town's Red-Light District.

The colorful lights on the street formed the words "Happy Street" on a signboard.

Dimly lit, with beautiful women, an ambiguous atmosphere directly permeated the entire street.

"It's been a long time since I came to drink with the ladies." Allen savored the atmosphere of the Red-Light District.

"Didn't you just come last week...?"

Vist ungraciously interrupted Allen's statement.

Allen didn't care in the slightest,

"I'm solving the work and employment problems of these ladies, okay?"

Vist thought, 'You're just here to find girls, why are you telling me all this?'

However...

Why did it feel like...

What he said made sense...?

Suddenly, it felt much more sophisticated.

Allen patted Vist's shoulder,

"Occasionally, you still need to change your taste; it's about appreciating both the refined and the popular."

Then, he no longer paid attention to Vist and skillfully walked into the building.
