Chapter 1 - Proclamation

The stillness of the room causes knots to form in my stomach. My chest repressed, my breathsilent.

My head feels as though it were vibrating. Not descriptive enough.

As if it were beingswung left and right for hours on end. My body is unable to keep with this corroding motion.

Theroom is completely white with high pitched buzzing coming from the lights. The boy who sits

alongside me says "We will all die."

I feel my heart throbbing as if a hand grabbed it and started

slowly squeezing it. This boy has the ability to see seconds into the future. Everyone here knows that.

I look around to see soulless eyes and people lying head first with their arms above their neck.

The ground starts rumbling and within seconds blood spikes come out of the walls. Impaling the boy who sits next to me straight through the back of his neck.

It narrowly misses me as my face becomes drenched in blood. And sudden piercing sensation hits my back.

I catch my breath and look up to see blood spikes all around the room.

I try to maneuver around the spikes and head towards the door. The door that meant we would have to do tests. Abandoned, in a sense.

No one was behind the opened door calling a number.

I hear someone behind me as I continue walking. I look out into the endless hallway. Filled with blood spikes.

I look to the left to find an empty hall leading to a door. As I walk down I see two other kids following me.

One is the girl who can ignite her hands on fire. Causing severe burn scars to cover her arms.

The other one is the boy who can bend metal rods with touch. The world shakes once again as it feels as though we got hit with a shockwave from behind.

My back is screaming out in pain as I get flung nearby the door.

My ears are ringing and everything around me is spinning.

I tried to put one hand in front of me but it somehow ended up beneath my stomach as I tried to push up with no strength.

The boy grabs my left arm and puts it around his shoulder. The girl grabs my other side and

opens the door.

We stumble through it.

My body feels like it's being drained of strength. In the room there are several dead adults.

The room is circle-like and there is a man kneeling in the middle of the room facing perpendicular to us.

He slowly looks over at us.

As we are frozen in place. The ground shakes again causing all three of us to lose footing.

The walls begin to crack and the pieces of the ceiling collapse. I see the man look away from me with a face filled withregret.

Then the roof collapses.

Covered in dust awaiting under the ruble laying down with my head facing down was me.

I woke up a while ago. However my body hurts and I would rather remain still. I try to move my left arm which causes the ruble to plummet on top of me.

I slowly look up to find dirt and dust drifting across the hole.

There is a sliver of a beam of light.

I look up to find small holes that look as if they were caused by bullets.

My entire body feels sore however I notice that the splitting pain on my back is now gone.

I slowly try to slither through the small gap leading to the sky.

Inching across shards of the ground. Eventually I start climbing with the front of my body but my lower body still underneath.

As I slowly get higher I get my legs free and use them as footing.

I hit my knee against something and a flash of pain beseeches me.

I continue climbing only to have my right hand cut against something.

I reach the opening and leverage my legs to a point I can push the piece of the ceiling up. It's heavy, however it slides slightly to the right.

I changemy approach and begin trying to slide it instead.

It falls to the side and I hear a bang. I climb out of the hole to find everything around me has collapsed.

I can feel a cold breeze rub against my cheek, as I lie standing over the rubble that contains the place I have lived at for the last 10 years. It all seems so strange, the white spotless rooms, the gray hallways containing glowing lines that reach out. All now pieces of rock heaped on top of each other.

My legs lose strength as I fall to my knees. The people who I was with are all deadnow.

The boy who would lend me extra food, the girl who aspired to one day be free of that place.

Dreaming of a world outside of the one we lived in. Out of everyone who could have made it out.

Why did it have to be me. I sit alone on top of a hill, a hill filled with corpses.

I see a small shockwave come from a crater to my right. I heard a loud screeching sound as there was a massive bird.

I stay in place merrily watching as a large bird with vines of bloodspikes seems to be grabbing on to it as it flies out beneath the rubble.

Going straight up halfway with only its lower half covered in feathers.

It is massive with its ring span being wider than two of the trees behind it.

I only see it for a glimpse because when it flies a small shockwave is sent behind it and it's gone.

Some of the bloodspikes got ripped and fell to the ground.

I feel the impact of it but it is not strong enough to move me.

I look over my right shoulder to see it flying away at a very fast speed.

The trees seem to be swayed as it passes over them.

The crater is deeper now, I see some bloodspikes which detached from the bird quickly wither up and turn to dust.
