Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Signs of the End

Chapter 8: Signs of the End

A blinding light swallowed everything.

The last thing I heard was

"Welcome, Host, I hope you make the most of this experience."

Then darkness.

When I opened my eyes, I was in a spotless white room that smelled too clean, almost fake. My head throbbed, distant voices leaked through the walls. One of them… sounded like Madam Li. She was agitated. Maybe pacing.

I tried to sit up, but pain shot through my whole body. It felt like I had been crushed, then stitched back together in the wrong order.

The door burst open and Madam Li rushed in. Her eyes were puffy and red. She had been crying.

"Why didn't you call me?!" she scolded, hugging me like I was made of glass.

She explained, after I collapsed, strange events began happening all over the world. She tried to check on me, but my door was locked. Thankfully, she had the spare key I had given her. She found me barely breathing and brought me here.

The doctors said it was poison something strange and slow. My body fought it off on its own, but I had been unconscious for an entire month.

A whole month… gone.

I thanked her softly. She smiled, wiped her tears, and left to give me space.

I grabbed the remote and turned on the news.

The world was falling apart.

The equator had become an oven temperatures hitting 70°C. Ice at the poles was melting fast, flooding coastlines. But the most terrifying part? The continents were moving sliding back together, forming one massive landmass.

Some called it Judgment Day, Others claimed to be time travelers with warnings.

And me? I had a talking slime, a strange body, and less than a year before the apocalypse started.

I pushed the covers off and tried to stand. My legs shook, but I didn't care.

That's when Sysi's voice rang in my head.

"Master, you can't move yet. Your body is still adjusting."

"Sysi, the world's ending. We don't have time for naps."

"Exactly," it replied. If you collapse now, everything else falls apart too.

I sighed, maybe it was right. But I still needed to do something.

"Master, you've got mail!" Sysi chirped suddenly.

I glanced at my phone.just messages, news, and spam.

"Nothing useful here," I muttered.

Not your boring human inbox,.Sysi said smugly. "Say Sysi Menu."

I did and a holographic screen appeared. a 3D version of me stood beside a chibi Sysi, bouncing happily.
