The two magicians were overwhelmed with emotion, especially Kaecilius, who stared at the boy with a fiery look in his eyes.
"Magicians Ander and Kaecilius, I see a rift!" another magician suddenly exclaimed, pointing toward the ruins in the distance. Everyone looked and saw a massive crack, about 50 meters in diameter and over 200 meters tall, emitting an ominous purple glow.
"Go!" Magician Ander shouted. He and the others ran toward the rift, while Leon remained in place, using his powerful perception to scan the town. He sensed many residents were still buried under the rubble.
With a thought, his immense, invisible psychokinesis spread out, moving all the rubble and debris away and gently lifting the buried residents to a safe, open area.
Meanwhile, Ander, Kaecilius, and the other magicians stood in a line, their expressions serious. They formed complex hand seals and then slammed their hands forward. A surge of magical energy formed a series of intricate golden threads that wove into the edges of the rift, which slowly began to close.
But from the other side of the rift, an ancient and evil roar erupted. A powerful purple energy beam shot out, aimed directly at the magicians. Ander, Kaecilius, and the others paled, feeling the cold grasp of death as time seemed to slow down.
Just before the beam hit, a thunderous explosion sounded in their ears.
"Go back to your own world."
BOOM!
In a flash, Leon appeared in front of them as if he had teleported. With a golden gauntlet, he punched the terrifying purple energy beam. A burst of twisting air formed around his fist, and the beam was actually pushed back, a brilliant purple energy hurtling back into the rift. The wind raged, and Leon stood there, his black hair and light-blue cloak whipping wildly.
ROAR!
An angry, ancient, and pained roar came from the rift.
The magicians, who had narrowly escaped death, were filled with shock and terror, yet they held their ground, continuing to cast their magic to repair the massive rift. Leon stood motionless in front of it, like a magic needle stabilizing the sea. His presence gave the magicians an unprecedented sense of security.
Soon, the hundred-meter rift slowly healed until there was nothing left but the open air. The magicians stopped their spellcasting, all of them panting. The close encounter with death had filled them with a rush of adrenaline.
Leon turned and glanced at the residents who were secretly watching from a distance, then looked at the magicians. A smile flashed in his eyes, and he gave a slight nod. "Goodbye, magicians."
Without another word, Leon's figure became a dazzling golden beam that shot into the sky and vanished completely.
"Well, he's very straightforward," Ander said, lowering his hand, which he had just raised to say something.
"He's so cool," a younger female magician said, looking up at the sky. This experience would be unforgettable for her. The boy who was like a god walking on Earth—elegant and noble—was now permanently etched in her mind.
"I never expected there were people like that on Earth. It's incredible. And that golden armor... I could feel its incomparable holiness and dignity," another magician added.
"We need to report this to the Sorcerer Supreme," a third said.
"Yes. Now, let's clean up the monster corpses and take the remains of Magicians Andy and Snow back to Kamar-Taj," Kaecilius said, lowering his eyelids to hide the burning intensity in his eyes.
"Yes, Magician Kaecilius."
Soon, the magicians had cleared the monster corpses, collected the remains of their fallen companions, and opened a magical portal to return home. Everything fell quiet.
After a long time, the hiding residents, seeing the sun again, cautiously emerged from their shelters. As they stepped into the sunlight, the survivors finally smiled.
"Look, there are so many people on the street!"
"Hey, they're still alive! Come and help!"
"Why are they on the street? Look at all the dust and scars on their faces and bodies. Were they buried under collapsed buildings?"
"But why are they out here now? Who dug them out?"
The surviving residents talked and helped those lying on the street.
But soon, a young blonde boy with acne on his face stood up and shouted excitedly, "I saw him! I saw God!"
"James, don't talk nonsense," someone scolded.
"I'm not! I saw the God in the golden armor! He saved all of us. He led his warriors, or maybe magicians, who killed those damned monsters and saved us!" the boy, James, insisted, visibly annoyed by the doubt.
Before anyone could refute him, another person shouted, "James is right! I also saw the God in the golden armor! He took care of all the monsters and eliminated a terrifying thing!"
"I heard the angry roar of a devil-like creature too!"
"I heard it too! I believe James!"
Hearing other residents stand up one after another, the remaining survivors looked at each other. After their town had been invaded by fog and monsters, and with so many residents killed, they were willing to believe that demons existed in this world. How else could those monsters have appeared? If so, was the god in golden armor that James and the others described real?
They were swayed. With James and the other eyewitnesses testifying to the spectacular scene, the remaining survivors also came to firmly believe that a God had saved them.
But who was that God?
...
"It was Leon. It was all his doing. You have to believe me, dear," a father swore, though he was feeling a bit guilty. He had, after all, used psychokinesis to let his son fly in the sky out of curiosity, which had made his wife, who had never experienced such a feeling, extremely dissatisfied—or rather, jealous.
