Cynthia Schmidt.
During the early days of World War II, she ignited countless bloody battles on the European front, forcing the U.S. government to launch the Super Soldier Program in an attempt to create a super soldier army to fight the fascist forces.
The daughter of Red Skull, one of HYDRA's leaders and a central figure of World War II, was named John Schmidt. However, Cynthia Schmidt was a daughter born in secret. It is said that when she was very young, the Red Skull, disappointed that she was a girl and not the son he wanted, became enraged and tried to drown her, believing that she was too weak to be worthy of him.
For reasons unknown, Cynthia Schmidt survived and was active during World War II with the support of her father. After Red Skull's defeat, she also disappeared, and everyone believed she had died somewhere. Hall White and the others recognized her from internal photos of her and Red Skull. She looked exactly the same, and even her Nazi female officer uniform was identical.
But how could this be?
A person from World War II should be nearly 70 years old by now, yet she didn't look a day over forty.
Furthermore, she had appeared in their meeting without setting off any of the external security measures. How had she managed that?
While everyone frowned in thought, Cynthia Schmidt, clad in her Nazi uniform, stood erect and imposing, her fierce and wild demeanor like a hunting cheetah. Her eyes, filled with a faint cold light, scanned the room, looking down on everyone with an arrogant attitude highly reminiscent of her father.
"You make me feel ashamed," she said in a cold voice, mercilessly reprimanding those present.
"Who do you think you are? Even if the Red Skull were here, he wouldn't dare speak to me in such a tone." Malick lashed back fiercely. In his mind, the Red Skull was a traitor, and he naturally looked down on his daughter, especially given her condescending attitude.
Cynthia turned to face the old man with the HYDRA cane and smiled. "Gideon Malick, a traditionalist who wants to bring back the so-called 'Hive God,' a ridiculous old product of an experiment."
"But I think you have one thing wrong, Malick. You don't even have the qualifications to look directly at my father. Now, get out."
Silence. The room fell into a heavy quiet as the other people present exchanged looks.
Malick's face flushed with anger. Finally, unable to contain his fury, he shouted, "Guards! Kill this woman for me! I will chop off her head with my own hands and crush it piece by piece on the Red Skull's grave!"
But there was no response from outside the door. Malick's anger vanished as if doused with cold water. He looked at Cynthia, his expression one of surprise mixed with contempt. "What did you do?"
"They know who they should be loyal to, old man." Cynthia snapped her fingers. Footsteps sounded from outside, and a group of fully armed soldiers rushed in, pointing their guns at everyone in the room.
Brock Rumlow's eyes shifted. Malick's expression was blank. Hall White took off his glasses and began to wipe the lenses with a cloth. But in the end, no one made a move.
Malick was trembling with rage, as he noticed that some of these soldiers were his own die-hard loyalists.
"What do you want, Madam Sin? If you're trying to capture and unify all of HYDRA, then I can tell you clearly: you can't do it." After a moment of silence, Zemo spoke.
"You are very smart, Baron." Cynthia smiled. "But you're wrong. I do want to unify HYDRA. As you said, HYDRA is now on the verge of extinction. I want to fulfill my father's ideals, and for that, HYDRA cannot die."
"But you can't do it," Zemo insisted, shaking his head. The various factions were spread across the globe and their internal conflicts were too complex. Unification would not be easy. He believed Cynthia was incapable of it, especially given the current unfavorable circumstances.
"I can't do it now, but I think there is something that can help me, Baron."
"I'm listening."
"The Book of Skulls."
Cynthia's words made Zemo's face change instantly. The others were filled with doubt, as if they had never heard of the book.
"You actually know about that," Zemo said in a low voice.
"I am the Red Skull's daughter. How could I not know about the Book of Skulls?" Cynthia retorted, leaving Zemo speechless. She stared at him intently. "Baron, you seem to know about it too. It seems you know where it is, don't you?"
"On March 9, 1942, your father, the Red Skull, launched an attack on the Norwegian town of Tønsberg, where he slaughtered the entire city, found the Tesseract in a small church, and stole a book: The Book of Skulls."
"But the Book of Skulls has been missing since the Red Skull's supposed demise, and no one has ever found it."
After Zemo's explanation, the other HYDRA executives finally understood. The Tesseract was a major cause of the chaos in World War II. The HYDRA Corps developed energy weapons using the Tesseract, which once spread fear across the European continent.
If the Red Skull used the Book of Skulls, it would surely be an object of incredible power.
"But you found it, didn't you?" Cynthia smiled gently.
"I did find its location, but I couldn't retrieve it. I believe it's waiting for its true owner."
"Yes. Originally, only my father was qualified to get it. Now, I am the new Red Skull."
"I can take you there, but I must keep some of my own power," Zemo said decisively. It was an offer to make a deal without hesitation. He didn't care about the others.
"You will be grateful for this choice, Baron Zemo," Cynthia agreed, making a promise. "There is only one God in this world, and you will become his most trusted assistant."
"Demon! That is a demon! God, please save us!"
"I don't want to die! Please save me!"
"Eddie, don't leave me!"
"Hahahaha, the end of the world is coming! The end of the world is coming!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
The flames of destruction spread across the Earth.
In every city, in every corner, in all populated places, a horrific slaughter was underway. People fled in terror. Blood flowed like a river, and by the light of the fires, countless bodies and scattered limbs could be seen lying on the ground. A heavy snow turned the world into a cold winter, and the world seemed to be at its end.
A massive, snake-like monster, its body capable of wrapping around the Earth, and a figure holding a hammer created a killing frenzy everywhere, spreading fear that was monstrous and terrifying.
But at that moment, the scene froze, stretched, and was finally reflected in Thor's eyes.
Thor suddenly sat up in bed, tearing off the thin white sheet that covered his body, revealing his strong, defined muscles. He was panting, his eyes wide with surprise.
Beside him, a pair of slender blue-skinned arms wrapped around his thick waist. "What's wrong, Thor? Did you have a nightmare?"
"I saw a disaster, Star." Thor turned his head to look at the naked, blue-skinned woman beside him. His tone was unusually serious. "Destiny is guiding me. I must leave."
"I thought we would spend every night together."
"Yes, Star. But you know I am Thor. The blood of the Odinson family flows in my veins, and I carry the honor of Asgard. My duty is to protect the Nine Realms. I am an Asgardian and a warrior. I cannot stand by when I foresee a disaster."
Thor hugged the woman, speaking gently but firmly. "I believe you will understand. I long to enjoy every day and night with you. Wait for me to return."
"I will wait for you, always," the woman said, looking at Thor with admiration. Her one eye was filled with reluctance, but she gave him a gentle kiss.
Thor got out of bed. The woman, holding a white veil to cover her body, watched the man she loved walk to an open space. He looked up at the sky and shouted, "Heimdall!"
Boom!
A colorful beam of light fell from the sky, enveloping Thor. Wrapped in electrical energy, he was instantly clad in scale armor and a bright red cape. He looked like a god, majestic and divine.
Finally, Thor left the land of comfort and his one hundred and ninety-ninth lover and returned to Asgard.
In a flash, Thor emerged from the Bifrost passage. Before him stood a magnificent, expansive building and a tall, armored man with a greatsword planted on the platform of the seven-step staircase. This was Asgard's Gatekeeper of the Bifrost, Heimdall.
"Thor, I thought you would be back later," Heimdall said, releasing the sword and walking down the steps. His face was always expressionless, but his tone held a hint of a joke.
Unfortunately, Thor was not in the mood for jokes. He looked at Heimdall seriously. "Heimdall, I had a dream of a disaster."
"A disaster?" Heimdall's demeanor immediately changed. As a Bifrost Gatekeeper, he knew well the incredible abilities of the Odinson family, including prophetic dreams. Thor had dreamt of many future events, including wars, and had used this foresight to prevent them many times. He believed this time was no exception.
"Fear. I saw the Nine Realms engulfed in fear, the flames of war, bones, and blood everywhere. This fear will sweep across all nine realms, Heimdall." Thor's voice was low but filled with worry.
"I believe you, Thor, but the Nine Realms are currently at peace."
"No, this fear has no warning signs. It spreads too quickly. We must find the source of this disaster in advance."
"What do you want to do?"
"The Serpent." Thor looked at Heimdall and spoke a name that made Heimdall pale.
The Gatekeeper repeated the name in a dazed tone, his voice growing louder. "The Serpent?"
"It seems you know about the Serpent," Thor said.
"That is a past that should have been buried, Thor. Are you certain?" Heimdall frowned, his expression extremely grim.
"Absolutely. I saw the Serpent covering the sky and the sun. It was an indescribable power. I saw death in it and the world ending because of it." Thor nodded, affirming his vision.
"If it truly is the Serpent, then we are in trouble, Thor. It will plunge the Nine Realms into darkness and fear."
"What exactly is the Serpent? Why have I never heard of it?" Thor interrupted Heimdall.
Heimdall ignored him and continued in a low voice. "The Great Serpent is also called Cul. He was once a member of the Odinson family and was the King before Odin."
"What? I thought the previous king was my grandfather, Bor Odinson?" Thor asked in disbelief.
"No, King Bor's heir was the Great Serpent, Cul. He is your father Odin's elder brother. He was once called the God of Fear because he was too cruel. He absorbed the fear of others to increase his own strength, which made him lose his mind. He spread fear across the Nine Realms and tried to become the most powerful King in Asgard's history. Finally, he was defeated and sealed by your father, Odin. This history is very old, and because Odin sealed him, few people know of it."
"With my father's seal, how could the Great Serpent possibly break free? How is this possible?" Thor was in disbelief. He believed in his father's greatness. Even if the Great Serpent was powerful, could he really defeat Odin's seal?
"Thor, you can't imagine the fear of that period. The Serpent's power is far beyond your and my understanding."
"I need to speak to the Allfather."
"Odin is in a deep sleep."
Thor felt numb. A deep sleep at a time like this? It's not a big problem... Yesterday was an accident.
