Chapter 1 - Prologue: The empress veiled in crimson

"Azrael..."

Beneath the stifling glow of the crimson moon, spirits who were veiled in mystery danced in chaos, their presence daunting and eerie. Bathed in crimson hue, the cloaked believers of the Crimsom Moon Goddess stood in reverie before the altar.

Amid the torrent of chaos, a child with the bearing of the moon trudged towards the altar, dragging her feet as she stumbled forward.

"The empress veiled in crimson...

The center of the resplendent sea...

The harbinger of the crimson rain...

Thy whispers shall be heard...

and blessed be thy midnight."

The ominous chants of the cloaked believers reverberated through the hall, driving the spirits to waltz in madness. Everyone stood with reverence as they chant with great seriousness.

It was suffocating. The air was thick and chilling. Darkness clung to every corner of the hall while the moon veiled the altar with a tint of crimson.

The child felt like vomiting. Her heart pounded heavily as her trembling knees grew weaker.

As she tread closer to the altar, shrill cries entered her ears along with an eerie laughter as if mocking her. The child's steps became heavier as her eyes darted around.

A disturbing statue entered her vision, a perfectly sculptured statue of a disconcerting scene. The sculpture depicted a falling woman, with a sword stabbed on her neck. The woman wore an expression of agony and horror.

In front of the statue was a coffin of exquisite design.

"Bow down, the ceremony will now commence."

It was a ceremony to communicate with the dead.

Terrified and out of her wits, the child extended her hand to touch a well preserved corpse from centuries ago.

Trembling, with the slightest touch of her finger, her whole system seemed to disintegrate.

"Azrael..."

A soft whisper called out to her.

She slowly lifted her head with a pained expression. Every little movement made her feel as if her heart would explode in an instant.

"AZRAEL!"

A distorted screech called out to her while the phantoms began weeping eerily. An incomprehensible raving soon entered her ears, driving her into madness.

The eye of an evil Goddess locked its eyes with the helpless child, staring onto her soul. It was as if her whole existence were being fragmented and torn apart.

pant... huff...

The child who could no longer withstand the pressure collapsed, turning into a cold corpse.
