Alessia sat beside her mom's hospital bed, holding her hand gently. Despite the machines beeping around her, her mom's face looked peaceful, though still unconscious. Alessia's heart swelled with love and concern as she began to talk to her mom.
"Mom, I'm here," Alessia said softly. "I know you're not awake yet, but I want you to know what's been going on. I got married, Mom. His name is Marco, and... it's a long story. Let's just say it's been a wild ride."
Alessia paused, collecting her thoughts. She glanced around the hospital room, making sure they were alone, before continuing.
"He's been... different, Mom. I mean, we didn't exactly get off on the right foot, but he's been kind to me. And I think... I think I might be starting to like him. Maybe more than like him."
Alessia's voice dropped to a whisper as she leaned in closer to her mom.
"I don't know what the future holds, Mom. But I want you to get better, so you can meet him and tell me what you think. I need your advice, your guidance. I feel lost without you."
As Alessia spoke, tears pricked at the corners of her eyes. She wiped them away, trying to stay strong for her mom's sake.
Alessia stepped out of the hospital room and made her way to the doctor's office, eager to get an update on her mom's condition. She knocked on the door, and after a brief moment, the doctor called out, "Come in."
Alessia entered the office, and the doctor greeted her with a sympathetic smile. "Alessia, I know you're anxious to know about your mom's progress. Unfortunately, there's not much improvement to report yet," the doctor said gently.
Alessia's face fell, but she composed herself quickly. "Is there anything we can do to help her recover faster? Any treatment or therapy that might help?" she asked, her voice filled with concern.
The doctor nodded understandingly. "We're doing everything we can, Alessia. I'll talk to the team about exploring other options, but for now, let's focus on keeping her comfortable and stable."
Alessia nodded, determination etched on her face. "Thank you, Doctor. Please, do everything possible for my mom. I'll do whatever it takes to help her get better."
With a sense of resolve, Alessia left the hospital and headed out to run some errands, including picking up groceries for dinner. She wanted to make something special for Marco when he got home.
As Marco walked in the door, Alessia greeted him with a warm smile. "Hey, welcome home. Dinner's ready. Why don't you go freshen up, and we can eat together?" she said, her eyes sparkling with a hint of coziness.
Marco raised an eyebrow, seemingly pleased with the prospect of a home-cooked meal. "Sounds great. I'll be right back," he said, heading towards the stairs.
Alessia watched him go, feeling a sense of comfort in their little routine. She busied herself setting the table, her mind wandering to her mom's condition and the doctor's words. But for now, she pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the present moment, enjoying the quiet intimacy of sharing a meal with Marco.
As Marco came back downstairs, freshly showered and dressed in comfortable clothes, Alessia couldn't help but notice the way he smiled at her. It was a small, gentle smile, but it made her heart skip a beat.
"Let's eat," she said, gesturing to the table. "I made your favorite."
