As I make my way over there I bump into someone. Serena.
"Oh your highness, I didnt see you there." She said looking up at me like she accidentally bumped into me.
I nodded and went to walk around her but she side stepped me and then fell into my arms.
"Oh my, I believe my garments maybe to tight, they nearly made me faint. Its a good thing you were here to catch me."
"Umhum" I reply while setting her down on the couch near the staircase. "Catch your breathe here." And then she grabs my hand.
"Won't you stay to make sure I fair well?"
"No, Serena, I see what you are trying to do and if you continue this nonsense and obstruct my path again I will cut funds with your father's pack and black list his company. I've had a good relationship with your father for many years, do not ripple that with your stupid shit." I ripped my hand from her and continued my path to my mate. How dare she try to manipulate me, as if I was an idiot. I will probably hear something from her father. In all honesty her father is a good strategist and an asset too. Although if his daughter kept stepping in the way, I will have to teach them a lesson.
I kept walking but the smell was becoming faint, I started jogging a little. Frantically
"Where is our mate?"Onix asked.
I get outside where the mix of flowers blends in with the honeysuckle smell. Their is a gazebo off in the distance near the pond. There I see a silhouette and my heart stops. She's right there, Im going to finally meet my mate. As if in a trance I walk slowly behind her while she is over looking the pond under the gazebo. She has a striking red dress on and dark curls that I would love to brush my fingers through. I step on the gazebo wood it creaks and she turns around fast. The first thing I notice is her striking green eyes. I was so mesmerized in her eyes that I didnt see the knife she was holding. In a split second she had me to the ground. She raised the knife right above my heart. I roll from under her just time before she brings the knife down right where my heart was moments ago. She gets up and kicks me in the stomach. God this woman was fast. Also does she not know that I am her mate.
I hold up my hands "I mean you no harm" I say in a crouching position.
"Good then this will be easy" she says. God her voice was beautiful. Why did she have to be homicidal. Her speed and precision was unbending as well as admirable. Most of my warriors weren't able to put me down no matter how hard they kicked me in the stomach.
She was calmly walking towards me and the look in her eye I could tell she did not recognize me as her mate. She ment to kill me, and I had no idea why. I jump up and grab her arm, I felt tingles shoot up my arm. She looks at me and I can tell she felt them too. She grabs another knife from her thigh and slices my arm. I grab both arms and hold them above her head.
"Its not that easy to take down the lycan king, love." I wanted to kiss her so badly. She was so close I could feel her breathe on my lips. Her only response was kneeing me in the balls.
Fucking hell that shit hurt.
I didnt hesitate for even a second because she would have taken advantage of any weakness she could and I wouldn't give her any.
I turn her around, twisting her wrist so hard she ends up dropping the knives and I put my arm around her neck in a chocking position. I only needed to block her airways enough to render her unconscious. This little mate of mine was resourceful and I had to get to the bottom of this whole situation.
I put just enough pressure to cause her to become unconscious. It was upsetting I had to resort to this but I had no other options.
When I knew she was sleeping I slowing let go. I just watched the rise and fall of her chest for a little while. And then positioned her in a cradling position. I looked down at her, she looked so beautiful when she wasn't trying to kill me. I just couldn't understand why she didnt feel the bond, or did she? Was she not happy about having a mate? Or did she get frightened that I walked up behind her without warning? Why was she so heavily armed?
"Meet me in medic with cuffs and tell no one." I tell Tatum my Beta.
I slowly walk back to the castle with her in my arms. The moon light bouncing off the water illuminates one side of her face. How could someone so small be so dangerous. I laugh to myself. Im sure the moon goddess is laughing at this encounter right now.
"You probably scared her"Onix says to me in my head,"you did sneak up on her"
"But if that was the case why was she so heavily armed and why did she say "good this will be easy"? It just didnt make sense to me. I couldn't even tell what she was. I open her mouth. No sharp teeth so not lycan or vampire, to fast to be human.
Well, I didnt have the answers but when she wakes up she will have to come clean with her intentions and also why she didnt immediately feel the bond snap in place. Maybe I should go talk to a seer or an oracle. She probably won't be up for a few hours. I finally make it to the infirmary. The nurse on duty walked up to me from behind the desk and said "Your highness, this way. Do you know whats wrong with her?" She motions to a room just a few paces away. I lay her down on a white hospital bed and brush her hair out of her face.
"Yes, I choked her unconscious. She should be fine, keep an eye on her vitals and make sure no one except me, Beta Tatum, yourself or the doctor comes in or out of this room, you are to keep her supervised. Do not listen to a word she says and under no circumstances should she be unsupervised or released without me being here. Something happens to her then you will be held responsible, do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, you're highness" she says but there is a slight rattle to her response.
"Good"
