Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 - The one at the end of the road

The rain had stopped. As it calmed down, a voice broke through the silence.

"Adam, Tsara. You guys did it! You beat Tapio."

It was Indra, who was astonished by his friend's feats.

He then proceeded to help them get into Caravela.

In the end, what is nature. A terrifyingly destructive force? A group of orderly cycles?

 No.

Nature is nature and, for as much as we try to break it down and simplify it, we will probably never completely understand it.

Realistically, I can only call nature a box of mysteries. There are all kinds of diverse habitats, flora and fauna.

There are probably hundreds of thousands of way to describe nature, but there is only so much one can say.

Hence, I think it is for the best that we let nature be nature, and for us to just live alongside it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

On different place, one outside of spacetime, there was a meeting about to take place. There were five concepts sitting in their respective sits on the table.

The first concept to arrive was the concept of light, a four winged dragon with prism like scales.

Then came the concept of matter, know for always being all over the place, he is a big head with tiny feet and two other little heads going around it.

Next were the concepts of good and evil. One had gorgeous white angelic wings, and the other devilish wings and a pointy tail.

After them, the concept of darkness arrived, quiet as ever. No one knows his appearance because of the everlasting dark fog surrounding him.

Next arrived the concept of anti-matter, all but his eyes were covered with the darkness emanating from the darkness concept. Even still, anyone would be able to tell he didn't want to be there.

Afterward, the concept of gravity got there. His form was even harder to make out, as the constant Gravity pulling light distorted how he looked.

The Next concept to arrive was the concept of energy, who had a childlike feel to him, through his appearance was closer to a kid's first drawing.

Second to last arrived the concept of space, a space coloured worm that had a hole from its mouth till its rear. It then asked in an annoyed tone.

"Does anyone know where time is? The meeting is meant to start soon."

"No. But start with the meeting already. I can't withstand this much boredom any longer!"

 A kind voice then said.

"C'mon energy, can't you wait just one or two more minutes?"

"Alright, i got it already! I'll do it because you asked. If it weren't your morality as the concept of good, I would not stop."

"Either way, energy seems to be correct, maybe we should start the meeting without him."

 Said the concept of space.

And so they were about to start the meeting when a clock like figure entered the hall running.

 "Am I late?"

"Yes time, you are late again. Seriously, how can you have dominion over time and still be late every time?"

"Sorry, I tried my best to get here on time..."

The clock arms that shaped time's mustache were pointing down, as he got sad.

"Anyway, now that everyone is here, as both life and death are busy, let's get to the main topic of this meeting. We'll have to talk about a certain concept."

-----------------------------------------------------------------

The area was gloomy, filled with the fog that happens in horror movies to make a scene scarier. The air felt like decease, age, and above all, death.

In this decrepit environment, besides the dead silence these woods once held, there could only be heard the sharp sound of steel clashing.

 Clank

Adam parried a scythe strike with his longsword. His opponent was not to be underestimated, and kept pressuring him to the point that all Adam could do was parry.

All his allies were occupied as well, and in dire need of some rest, hence, the only ally he had near was the concept of medicine, simply known as Ludwig[1]. Ludwig was currently battling the concept of disease, known as Pestilence[2]. Therefore, no available allies to Adam other than Tsara, who was already helping him as the long-sword he was holding.

 Clank

The scythe and the longsword collided again. Adam created a spear of water and threw it at his opponent, who merely used his vantablack[3] cloak to shield himself.

In the fog, the appearance of the enemy Adam was facing was very hard to make out, but there were some glowing details on the face of the concept, almost like drawings. They had many different colours, but it would be obvious to anyone they didn't give off any sort of happiness.

The scythe too, was interesting. It was simple, without many intricate details, but the ominous sense of death it gave of was undeniable. If there was any weapon to feel like it held a hefty amount of blood on it, it was the blade of this scythe.

The scythe was swung again, this time at where should've been Adam's blind spot. Fortunately for Adam, the scythe gave off such a powerful feeling that not even the fog could mask its whereabouts. It was blocked.

And yet again, a "Clank" was heard.

"Why do you resist, child? Why do you reject my blessing? How come you resist yourself an ending?"

Asked the concept in a rasp voice, it felt like something was being scratched. Even then, the voice was still clad with a certain amount of class, respect for his adversary.

"Why, you ask. For as frail as a human is, I have been fighting against the world to survive. With the help of my allies, I have managed to progress toward something greater. I am not one who would give up upon facing you, John Doe."

"So you do know of my name... Your answer is... satisfactory. Just know, Adam... Everything reaches its end at some point, and when that happens, it will be I, John Doe[4], The concept of Death, who will embrace your memory.
