PROLOGUE

The year was 2060—the year the world changed forever.

It began with a sound no one could describe—like glass shattering in the

heavens. Then the cracks appeared. They split the sky and tore through the

earth, glowing with an otherworldly light. And from those fractures came them.

The Verdint.

Monstrous things from beyond comprehension, their purpose singular and

absolute: the annihilation of mankind.

The nations of Earth, once locked in petty rivalries, abandoned their

quarrels overnight. Armies merged, borders dissolved, and humanity fought as

one. But even united, our weapons could barely scratch them. The Verdint were

relentless, their advance unyielding.

It might have been the end—

—until they appeared.

They were not quite human anymore. They were faster, stronger, sharper in

mind and body, and wielded abilities that defied science. They were called Law

Bearers, guardians of the very principles that governed existence.

With them came our first taste of hope.

For the first time, humanity pushed back. We won battles. We reclaimed

ground. Yet the Verdint adapted. They grew smarter, more cunning, as though

learning from every defeat.

Five years passed in this grim stalemate.

And then he came.

Melvin McCain. A Law Bearer whose power was so absolute, so awe-inspiring,

that even the Verdint called him God. He led the first true

counteroffensive, driving the creatures back through the cracks. For a moment,

victory felt real.

But victory came with a price. Tens of thousands perished that day… and the

First God fell with them.

Two continents were lost—swallowed in the Verdint's corruption, their lands

twisted and poisoned beyond salvation.

And still, the sacrifice was not enough.

The Verdint returned, stronger than before.

But this time…

this time, humanity is ready
