In a cramped place, the eldest son of the current president of the United States was lying down, watching the news while eating a snack.
Television:
"Today we are here to hear what our president has to say," the journalist said.
"After a decade working on this, we have finally discovered a cure for cancer through antibiotics," the president began to speak. "We are building new schools and new orphanages. We will deliver uniforms and school supplies to every child. I will do everything to take care of everyone."
"Dad!?" said Takashi, wiping his hands on his pants. "Taking care of kids, huh? You didn't even take care of me when I was a kid!"
Then the alarm went off.
At school, for many it was just another boring day with extremely difficult subjects, but for Takashi it was a great day to study and maybe write a book.
Then Goro, the bully, showed up and grabbed the old notebook where Takashi was writing.
"Decided to become a writer???" mocked Goro. "Once upon a time there was a magical place and a princess who ran desperately?!"
"He thinks he can do it!" laughed Hiro. "Because that was awful."
Takashi knew the teacher was just pretending not to see all this. Takashi knew it was a lie; the teacher just wanted some entertainment.
Takashi then grabbed Goro's arm tightly and said, "Give me back my notebook."
"ENOUGH, EVERYONE TO YOUR PLACES!!" shouted the teacher.
"Better watch yourself, or I'll lose my patience," Goro whispered.
After all that, the dull recess started. Takashi was in the cafeteria. The food was cold and tasteless. His friend soon arrived and sat next to him.
"You're looking at her, huh?!" asked Tetsu.
"Today she's alone," Takashi said. "Have you ever thought recess is just a waste of time?!"
"How ridiculous," said Tetsu. "MILENA, COME HERE!" he shouted.
"What are you doing?!"
"I'm inviting the girl out."
She approached and sat next to Takashi, making his heart race.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Tetsu and this is my friend Takashi," he said calmly.
"I know who he is," she said pointing at Takashi. "This sounds kind of weird, but I've been researching about you."
"I don't think so, this guy here stares at you every day without a break," he laughed.
Takashi looked into his eyes with a threatening glance, as if saying: "If you keep this up, I'll make sure to shut you up in a way even pigs won't want to see."
Nervous, Tetsu said, "I mean, not like a stalker, it's just that you're very beautiful."
"Thank you, you're sweet," she said, "even though many people tell me that."
"Of course they do: your beautiful body, blue eyes, and straight white hair," Takashi whispered loudly.
"Oh, how lovely, you notice everything," said Tetsu.
He laughed, and Takashi got angry.
"Tetsu, let me tell you," Takashi began, "Goro told me not to test his patience."
"Goro?" asked Milena. "But he was so nice to me."
"Surely he had ulterior motives," said Tetsu. "Takashi, I think he's tired of teasing you and is going to strangle you; for him it'll be good since he wants to run away from his family."
"Strangle someone? Depending on how many people, he could get up to 12 years in prison," Milena thought.
They were stunned.
"I studied!" she said.
Classes quickly ended. Tetsu had already left; only Takashi and Milena remained.
"Who are you waiting for?" she asked him.
"I'm waiting for my old man," he replied.
"Is that how you talk about your father?"
"If he was one," he thought.
"My dad will be here soon. Who's picking you up today?" asked Takashi.
"My mom was going to pick me up, but she sent me a message saying she won't be able to leave work soon."
"If you want, you can come with me and my dad, Milena."
Then his father arrived and they gave her a ride to...
"Thank you, Takashi, and Mr. President."
She entered the house, and the car started moving.
"What's this story about bringing students into my car?"
"I just made a friend. Isn't that what you wanted?"
"Yes, I wanted you to make friends, but I didn't want you to invite one into my car," he said to Takashi. "You're a disappointment."
"I wouldn't be a disappointment if you did your job as a father, right? You were so focused on becoming president and didn't pay attention to mom who was sick, and because she was sick she couldn't do what you wanted, and you ended up with your secretary, who's now my stepmother, and maybe..." he paused, "maybe mom was alive and I wasn't stuck with you."
"Get out of the car."
He obeyed.
Then a downpour fell from the sky.
"NOW NOTHING ELSE IS MISSING!"
The next day wasn't as bad as he thought. His story had promised 20,000 views, the bullies were absent, and no one was teasing him. For years, that was the best day of his life.
During recess, he was sitting with his friend Tetsu and Milena when the school plunged into chaos. Screams echoed through the hallways and alarms began to sound. Then the three started running to the exit door, but...
"Who is the person closing the emergency exit door?" Tetsu asked, irritated and distressed.
"Me," said a familiar voice.
"Goro?" asked Takashi.
"That's me." Then he launched a brutal attack, targeting the knees of the two, knocking them down with muffled cries of pain. "A stranger, a nerd, and a beautiful woman who should be my wife."
"I belong to no one," Milena said.
Then he hit Milena and Tetsu.
"You don't have to do this," Takashi said. "This won't set you free."
"Twelve years are enough for me," he said.
Newspaper — next day
"Unfortunately, yesterday afternoon there was a tragic event at the school. My son died; with him were Milena Lisa, Tetsu Dito, Kiko Rito, Marta Rosa, and two staff members. The culprits are already on trial," said the president. "Rest in peace."
