Chapter 2 - Limits of Infinity

Jason froze, suddenly drawn to the strange sensation pulsing beneath his skin. He lifted a hand, fingertips tingling as he focused inward, squinting through the haze of his thoughts. And then he saw it—an immense, roaring ocean of cursed energy, swirling and churning inside him like a storm that refused to calm.

His breath hitched. He'd never seen cursed energy before—not really. Not like this. There was no one to compare it to. No standard, no baseline. Just raw, overwhelming power, stacked higher than anything he could've imagined.

His pulse thundered in his ears. "How the hell…?" Jason whispered, voice barely steady. It wasn't just a lot. It was stupidly huge. Like holding a volcano inside a glass jar, ready to explode at any moment.

He swallowed hard, heart pounding. Too much energy, no control to match it. The cursed energy inside him wasn't just flowing—it was a storm ready to break free. His body shook under the pressure, his mind drowning in power he hadn't yet learned to command. Still, a crooked smile tugged at his lips, sarcasm sneaking through the tension. "Well, at least I've got one thing going for me," he muttered.

Dropping to the floor, legs crossed, every muscle ached from the strain of maintaining focus. This was no effortless gift. He clenched his fists and pushed his cursed energy to fold space, creating that impossible gap Gojo wielded. The air before him shimmered faintly—an invisible veil, a sliver of endless space separating him from the world. This was Infinity. Not a shield in the traditional sense, but a barrier of infinite distance that stopped anything before it could touch him.

The effect flickered, fragile like a candle in a storm. His breath hitched as he fought to keep it alive, his Six Eyes working overtime to track every tiny shift and fold in the warped space. The flood of spatial data threatened to drown him, testing the limits of his concentration. Muscles locked, sweat trickled down his face. Holding Infinity felt like scaling a steep cliff, every second a battle against collapse.

Ten seconds passed, then twenty. His breathing grew shallow, heart pounding louder with every tick of the clock. Thirty seconds in, and the mental strain pressed down like a weight, the flood of information threatening to overwhelm his senses. Forty seconds. His vision blurred, but he forced his focus sharper, willing the space to stay open. At forty-five seconds, the fragile barrier began to waver, edges flickering like static on an old TV.

His arms shook. Sweat stung his eyes, but he pushed harder.

Fifty seconds.

And just like that, Infinity snapped shut. The invisible fortress vanished, and reality slammed back in—sharp, relentless, and unforgiving. Jason collapsed against the wall, lungs burning, muscles trembling. Fifty seconds was the hard cap without Reverse Cursed Technique to refill his energy . No matter how much raw power he carried, his body wasn't built to sustain it yet.

He wiped the sweat from his brow and let out a breath that was half laugh, half groan. "Yeah, not exactly the 'unstoppable god' I was hoping to be." His voice was rough, but there was no bitterness—just that familiar mix of frustration and stubborn determination. This was the kind of grind nobody warned him about. Holding Infinity was like trying to keep a dozen wild cats from scattering everywhere, except these cats were made of space itself.

Jason flexed his fingers and gave the invisible barrier one last push, feeling the edges ripple beneath his skin before letting it go. His body slumped back against the wall, muscles screaming for rest and his lungs begging for air. Then, out of nowhere, a loud, angry growl echoed from his stomach.

"Great," he muttered, hand rubbing his midsection. "Now I'm starving."

The weird new world could wait for a minute. Right now, food was top priority. Whatever passed for a decent meal around here had better be good—or he was going to be crankier than usual.

He pushed himself up, wincing at the ache in his arms, and glanced toward the door. Infinity training could wait. For now, it was time to find out what this place had on the menu.
