Chapter 18 - CH:18 : System Update

The sun was already dipping below the horizon by the time they got back. The sky was painted in streaks of gold and crimson, and a soft breeze rustled through the trees.

Neither of them spoke much on the walk home, yet the silence was far from awkward. Sandra walked a little closer than before, her shoulder brushing against his now and then, and each touch made her heart flutter. Every so often, she would steal a glance at Leon, only to look away quickly when their eyes met, a shy smile tugging at her lips.

Leon noticed her stolen glances but didn't react. His thoughts were elsewhere — fixed on the red, blinking notification pulsing on the corner of his system panel.

[System Alert: Update Pending]

It had been blinking continuously since that afternoon. The system was already powerful — but it was a little dull. A crooked smile tugged at his lips as he wondered what new features the update might bring. Hopefully, this time, it would lean a little more toward the perverted side.

Finally they reached Sandra's house which was near Melina's. She sheepishly looked at him, not able to hold eye contact.

"This is my house." she said in a low voice.

Sandra's voice was so soft Leon almost missed it over the hum of the evening insects. She stood at the small wooden gate, her hand resting on the latch, eyes lowered as though the packed dirt beneath their feet had suddenly become fascinating.

Leon followed her gaze briefly before returning his eyes to her. "I see," he said gently.

"Can we… do that again?" she asked, her voice trembling ever so slightly, fear and hope tangled together in the quiet question.

A gentle smile tugged at his lips as he looked at her. "Of course aunt, you are my slave remember—"

Her face turned crimson with shame; his words were a quiet reminder of just how vulnerable she was when it came to him.

"Come by tomorrow," he said in a firm, commanding tone. "I have an assignment for you."

"Okay." she answered hurriedly as she pushed the wooden gate.

"Aren't you forgetting something, aunt?" he asked with amusement, as he pulled her closer and kissed her cherry lips.

With a swift motion, she opened the gate and strode forward, her pace edged with the urgency of escape.

As he watched her disappear into her hut, the corners of his mouth lifted gently, a small but certain sense of accomplishment settling in his chest.

He turned and began walking toward Melina's hut, his steps slow and deliberate, his mind deep in thought.

That persistent blinking notification floated at the edge of his vision once more, impossible to ignore.

[System Alert: Update Pending]

It pulsed steadily, almost impatiently now, as if the system itself were urging him to act — but he decided to leave it alone until he was safely inside the house.

With that resolve firm in his mind, he quickened his pace toward Melina's hut, the red glow of the system lingering at the edge of his vision like a heartbeat he couldn't ignore.

He opened the door and stepped inside. Melina and Kara were seated by the fire, the warm glow dancing across their faces as something simmered gently in the pot before them.

"How was the well?" Melina asked with a small smile, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.

"It was fine," Leon said, shrugging slightly, a small smile tugging at his lips as he remembered what had happened with Sandra.

"I'm tired. I'm going to lie down for a bit," he added with a grin, turning toward the room where he had woken up earlier.

Leon sank onto the straw-strewn bed, the warmth of the fire from the other room fading behind him. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting his muscles loosen and the day's fatigue settle into his bones.

He rubbed his hands together, a thrill of anticipation coursing through him. The red, blinking notification lingered at the edge of his thoughts, a constant reminder that something new — something powerful — was waiting. What would the update bring? New abilities? Hidden features? Perhaps even… something entirely unpredictable.

Leon took a deep breath. The red light pulsed steadily, as if counting down the moments until he acted.

'Now', he thought, steeling himself. With a decisive press, he confirmed the update.

For a heartbeat, nothing happened — then the panel flickered, lights dancing across the surface as the system hummed to life.

[System Update v2.0 Ready to Install]

[Warning: Installation may cause temporary loss of consciousness.]

[Proceed? Y/N]

Without hesitation, he pressed Yes again.

The moment he confirmed, a sudden warmth spread through his body, starting from the core and radiating outward like molten fire. His vision blurred for an instant, and the world around him seemed to tilt and shimmer.

Numbers, symbols, and unfamiliar diagrams flashed across his mind's eye, overwhelming his senses. For a brief second, he felt weightless, as if reality itself had loosened its grip.

Then, just as quickly, it stabilized. The hum in the system panel settled into a steady rhythm, and a subtle tingling ran through his limbs — an electric sense of potential, like every fiber of his being had been awakened.

Before he could fully comprehend the change, a wave of dizziness swept over him. The tingling in his limbs intensified, his vision narrowing until the edges of the room blurred.

A sudden heaviness pulled at him, and his knees buckled slightly. The last thing he felt was the steady hum of the system panel vibrating through his body.

Darkness enveloped him, yet even in the void, his mind remained tethered to the system. Streams of data raced past him, lights and codes forming patterns that defied logic.

Leon's eyelids fluttered open, the faint glow of the fire from the other room spilling across the hut. He blinked several times, trying to focus, but the world already felt sharper — edges crisper, sounds richer, even the faint scent of herbs in the air seemed amplified.

A tingling ran through his limbs, subtle but undeniable, as if his body was aware of its own potential in a way it hadn't been before. He flexed his fingers experimentally and felt a surge of coordination and control ripple up his arms. Every movement was smoother, faster, more precise.

Before Leon could even begin experimenting on the new features, the door creaked open.

"Dinner's ready," Melina called softly, stepping inside the room. Her warm smile carried the familiar domestic calm, though a hint of curiosity lingered in her eyes as she glanced at him.

He followed her from behind, and that's when it hit him — he hadn't eaten much since waking up, yet he didn't feel hungry at all. Why am I not hungry? he wondered, a flicker of curiosity crossing his mind.

[Your body now uses Lust Energy Points (L.E.P) to sustain itself; you do not require food.]

The system's words echoed directly in his mind, clear and calm, as if answering his unspoken question. Leon paused for a moment, letting the information sink in, a small grin tugging at his lips. So that's new…
