Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: A Very Unlucky Day

The day was like any other, except for one small thing…

Jack was extremely unlucky.

Jack was on her way home from work when her mother called asking her to get groceries. At the store, while she was checking out, a robber suddenly came in brandishing a gun. In his other hand he held bag.

"EVERYBODY PUT YOUR HANDS UP. THIS IS A ROBBERY." The Robber yelled making his way to the cashier

"Put the money in the bag!" He yelled at the cashier.

The cashier trembled as he took the money from the cash register. Jack felt bad for the poor guy but she wasn't going to get in the middle of this. The Robber wasn't going to hurt anyone if they just gave him money.

And Then he noticed her staring and said " what are you looking at? huh."

"Nothing." Shit, he noticed her.

For some reason he seemed pissed at her response. "Hey if you've got nothing better to do gimmie your money."

NOOOOO! Fuck she just had to stare didn't she. Jack grabbed her bag and looked for her wallet and took out all the cash she had, $5.21.

" Is that all you have?" The Robber asked in a pitying tone he seemed to have calmed down from the earlier aggravation.

"Yeah" Jack agreed.

"Even I have more than that" said the cashier. looking over the register to peer at them.

Both her and Robber turned to look at him. The cashier immediately trembled and went back to putting money in the bag.

"You should get a better job" commented the Robber.

"I have a good enough job, college just costs a lot." She argued.

"I'm a college student and I still have more than that" said the cashier.

Again they both looked at him. " fine, fine, I'll shut up" he said.

"He's right you should still have more money than that." Said the Robber in a very pointed manner

"I just spent it all on a cosplay supplies" Jack said looking away guilty.

Both the cashier and Robber looked at her with a judgy look. Who are they to judge anyways. It's not like people still carry cash anyways.

The Robber just shook his head and took the money in the bag and said "Thanks for the cash". Then he left. Jack and the cashier were left staring after him. At least they were safe now.

On her way home jack was left in thought. Maybe I should quit college. It would allow me to work more and I wouldn't be spending it on school so double plus. I could also do more cosplays. It's not like I knew what I wanted to do in college anyway I was undeclared and it was almost the end of my second year.

Jack was just so occupied in thought when she arrived home. Because of her distraction she failed to remember drag her foot a little higher to make it over the doorway ledge.

Jack's life ended in a very undramatic way. She ended up bumping her head against a small side table when she fell.

Today was the kind of day that would cause Jack's death, wasn't it. She contemplated whether her Mom or Eric would feel sad if I left and how much she still wanted to finish her Telemachus cosplay.

She just lay there bleeding out until it all finally went dark.
