Zavry stepped out of the room, walking like nothing was wrong. His expression was calm as he gently rolled down his sleeves, as though everything was fine…. Like he had not just broken a few teeth of a man, His face had returned to its usual still calmness.
He moved down the stairs and walked straight to the back door. Stepping outside, he noticed it was already almost evening the afternoon was coming to an end.
"Only if you had just taken a cab and gone back to his house… You seem to forget this guy is rich, and despite his small apartment, he'd have lots of stock in his fridge. Not only did you suffer by washing plates, now you have to trek too," Rune spoke matter-of-factly as Zavry stepped out of the building. He walked into the busy street where everyone minded their own business, heading straight ahead.
'Rune, how many hours would it take before I reach Leon's apartment?' he asked as he lazily entered a certain building and started climbing the stairs.
"Three hours, five minutes, two seconds," he replied calmly. Zavry remained silent, simply continuing up the stairs. Rune, however, began to wonder why Zavry was taking a different route.
'Bro, where are you going this time? It seems like you don't learn from past mistakes' Rubin spoke, confused.
"Do you know what happens when there are no rules?" Zavry asked quietly as he leapt gently up the empty stairs, which seemed endless.
"No," Rune said, still wondering what the sudden political talk was about.
Zavry nodded. "When there are no rules, there's something called abuse of power," he said calmly. Then added, "And right now, the little freedom I gave you to speak… you're abusing it. Seems like you really want to go back to that nightmare, huh?"
Rune tensed, then spoke.
"Aren't you curious how I even managed to survive such a traumatic dream? All you're good at is casting spells on meto sleep. I know you can't even enter my dreams because you will not survive."
For more than a second, Zavry was silent at Rune's words. Then he spoke calmly, his eyes lazily resting on the staircase as he continued to climb, hands still buried in his pockets.
"How about you give me a little podcast on your dream? What's your nightmare about?" Zavry asked coolly.
Rune fell silent, surprised. He didn't think the day would come when Zavry would ask about his dreams. It was something he never expected.
"Among all, I had a favorite… but that one comes once in a while. At least it was the least scariest of all," Rune said.
Zavry clicked his tongue. "Go straight to the fucking point and stop beating around the bush."
Rune chuckled lightly. "The least scary nightmare I had was…" He paused. Then continued,
"You died."
Zavry's lips curled up into a wide smile.
"What were my last words?"
Rune was silent. He didn't expect that question—this man wasn't even afraid of death.
"You had no last words," Rune replied.
Zavry sneered. "Then that can't be me. I wouldn't just die without taking someone important in this world with me, brother. So go back into that dream and tell me what my last words were—"
Before Rune could understand what Zavry meant, Zavry's lips moved… and Rune fell into a deep sleep.
Zavry finally reached the top of the building. He walked calmly to the edge. A heavy wind blew past his face, sweeping his hair back. His eyes scanned the city as he calculated something in his head.
He moved slowly yet precisely, stepping up onto the stone-smoothened pavement at the edge. One small push could mean a permanent visit to his grave…yet Zavry stood there, hands still in his pants pockets despite the tear he felt inside one.
He moved, then he leapt.
His body flew through the air, hands still in his pockets. He landed softly, gently—on the rooftop of another building. Then he leapt again, flying over the city. Minutes passed as he gave his final leap, and finally, he landed on the rooftop of a building. His lips moved for the first time…he had arrived at Leon's apartment.
He walked toward the edge, reached the door, and opened it. He began walking down the stairs, knowing Leon's apartment was in Block C, Room 201. He walked calmly, the building quiet. A few people passed by with bags, probably from the grocery store or something.
Zavry simply walked in silence. Healready expected the stares that kept landing on him—many people were curious about his long hair why would someone at this time have such hair..not to mention his dirty cloth he would not even be surprised if someone thought him to be a mad man and wandering around the building for food.
He walked toward Block C. All he wanted right now was to enter the room and sleep. He was tired. Today had been long, and before his next mission—which would be tonight, he needed to rest his head for a while.
He finally reached Leon's room. Just as he did, a slow smile curled on his lips. He reached for the doorknob and tried to open the door…
But it wouldn't budge. It was locked.
"Shit."
Zavry cursed internally.
He hadn't taken the password.
And Rune…the one who knew the f**king password was asleep.
