I looked up from my coffee to find Elena Blackwood standing in our kitchen doorway at seven in the morning, holding what appeared to be a three-inch-thick wedding planning binder.
"Good morning to you too," I said cautiously. "What am I saying no to?"
"The ridiculous idea that you can plan a wedding of this magnitude in three weeks." She dropped the binder on our kitchen table with a thud that made the sugar bowl jump. "Do you have any idea what you've gotten yourselves into?"
Kai emerged from the bedroom, hair still messy from sleep, pulling on a t-shirt. "Mom? How did you even... we just got engaged yesterday."
