Chapter 40 - Great News, Thumbs Up for the Ten Rings

"Stark got kidnapped?"

"That fast?"

Zhou Cheng, as a transmigrator who already knew the plot, was much calmer than the others.

He was only a little surprised, that was all.

He did remember that in the story, Tony Stark was kidnapped after the Apex Award ceremony.

But he really didn't expect it to happen the very next day!

If that was the case, he'd have to speed up the process of selling his house.

After all, the entire ordeal of Tony Stark's kidnapping and rescue only took two or three months.

Compared to something like selling a house, two or three months felt a bit rushed.

Of course, if Zhou Cheng was eager to sell, it shouldn't be a problem.

It's just that the price might need some adjustment.

"Oh well."

"What can you do when you're in a hurry?"

What else could Zhou Cheng do?

He could only quickly contact a real estate agent.

He told them that he needed the money urgently and requested they sell the house within two months.

Real estate agents like Zhou Cheng see a lot of clients, so the agent naturally agreed without any hesitation.

What happened next? Zhou Cheng, in a great mood, comfortably lay on the sofa.

Out of habit, he recorded his pleasant mood in his diary.

Afghanistan.

Ten Rings secret base.

"We've met once, at a technology conference in Bern."

"I don't remember."

"Of course, if I were that drunk, I wouldn't even be able to stand, let alone give a speech about integrated circuits."

Tony Stark sat on a pile of junk, getting to know his "roommate," Yisen.

"Where are we?"

Tony Stark began to ask Yisen for this incredibly crucial piece of information.

He already knew who had kidnapped him.

But where he had been kidnapped to was still a mystery.

Bang!

Yisen was about to say something when a loud sound suddenly came from the large iron door.

Someone from outside had unlocked the iron gate.

Those guys, they were here!

"Get up!"

"Hurry, get up!"

"Follow me, put your hands up!"

Yisen's expression immediately changed, and he started urgently whispering to Tony Stark.

With Tony Stark's intelligence, he naturally immediately guessed who was coming.

So, he cooperated with Yisen and also raised his hands.

Bang!

Sure enough.

The next moment, the large iron gate was pushed open.

A group of terrorists, swaggering in with submachine guns and semi-automatic rifles, strode inside.

They were spouting words that Tony Stark couldn't understand at all.

Fortunately, Yisen, who was by his side, was proficient in many languages.

He translated everything the terrorists said for Tony Stark to hear.

The initial comments were just meaningless insults, which Tony Stark ignored.

It was when the bearded man in front of him made a real demand that Tony Stark took notice.

"He wants you to build missiles for him."

"It's the Jericho Missile, the one you demonstrated."

Yisen translated for Tony Stark, taking the photo of the Jericho Missile from the bearded man and handing it over for Tony to see.

In the original movie, Tony Stark would have firmly refused. He wouldn't want such a powerful weapon falling into the hands of a bunch of scum; the potential harm was unimaginable.

Moreover, Tony Stark knew that even if he built the missile for them, they wouldn't let him go.

But now?

"This is my chance!"

"The raw materials are right here!"

Tony Stark appeared unfazed on the surface, but a surge of excitement immediately coursed through him.

He'd been racking his brain, wondering how the other version of himself in that other world had managed to get the raw materials and craft the armor right under the enemy's noses.

Turns out, there was an opportunity like this.

It was practically a godsend! However… A question inevitably popped into Tony Stark's mind.

Were the Ten Rings' members out of their minds?

They went through all the trouble of kidnapping him, even wiping out an entire army unit.

All this earth-shattering effort, just for a Jericho Missile?

Were these guys planning to start a world war or something?

Did it absolutely have to be a Jericho Missile?

There are many ways to get a Jericho Missile. Why would they resort to kidnapping him to build one?

Only someone with a serious mental deficiency would come up with such a terrible idea.

So, are all these people from the Ten Rings complete idiots?

Bang!

As these thoughts flashed through his mind, Yisen gently nudged Tony Stark's shoulder.

Tony Stark snapped back to reality.

He found that all the members of the Ten Rings were staring directly at him, waiting for his answer.

"Do I have a choice?"

Tony Stark had no choice but to agree, with a helpless expression.

"A wise choice!"

The big bearded man immediately laughed. "Once you've built the missile, I'll let you leave."

"Now, collect your thoughts and give us a list later."

"We'll prepare everything you need!"

After saying this, the big bearded man left with his men.

"Are you really going to build them a Jericho Missile?"

Yisen pushed up his glasses, looking at Tony Stark with a complicated expression.

He understood Tony Stark's decision, but at the same time, he didn't want him to do it.

"Like I said, I have no choice."

Tony Stark shrugged, not telling Yisen the truth.

He and Yisen weren't familiar with each other yet, and he didn't trust Yisen that much.

Yisen wanted to say something more to Tony Stark, but Tony Stark didn't want to pay attention to him anymore.

Because he had already glimpsed the notebook he'd opened beginning to update.

[Great news, great news!] [Today is a really good day, no wonder magpies were chirping this morning.] [After waiting for so long, finally, at last, Stark is kidnapped.] [Hahaha, brothers of the Ten Rings, I give you a thumbs up, good job!]

Even just reading these words, Tony Stark could clearly feel how happy Zhou Cheng was on the other end of the diary.

As if his kidnapping was something incredibly satisfying and joyous.

Even though this wasn't the first time Tony Stark had seen this tone from Zhou Cheng, his face still darkened as usual.

"This bastard!"

His lips twitched, and Tony Stark couldn't help but curse under his breath.

Seeing some book friends discussing it earlier, the diary clearly spoiled Stark's kidnapping, but it couldn't be avoided in the end.

This was explained earlier. Stark knew he would be kidnapped by the Ten Rings and conducted a full investigation.

But the problem was, the Ten Rings hadn't planned to kidnap Stark at all. They were only hired by Obadiah to kill someone, and they didn't even know who the target was until after the attack, when they realized they were supposed to kill Stark. Only then did they decide to save him, unilaterally changing the assassination mission into a kidnapping.

In this situation, Tony Stark wouldn't be able to find any clues about the kidnapping. This entire event hadn't been planned by anyone.

Preventing or avoiding it wasn't even an option.
