Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 Jiang Sui Has Taken Leave

Su Qing forgot about that night, and indeed many other things, in her busy studies.

Perhaps it was because the people behind her hadn't been to class in a long time, not even coming to school for the midterm exam. It had been a week, maybe, but it didn't seem like a long time.

She had heard from Liu Ranran that Jiang Sui had taken leave and returned to Jiangcheng because of some family issues.

Su Qing's mind was completely focused on her studies. On the midterm exam, her score was firmly in the top 50 for her grade, which was still a long way from her expectations.

To foster a better learning atmosphere, the classoom teacher reshuffled their seats. Su Qing now had a new deskmate, a boy who served as the class study committee member. He was meticulous, wearing black half-framed glasses and was a humorous academic. His name was Zhang Yihan.

"Su Qing, your English grades are incredible! I'm so envy."

Holding the just-handed English test paper and looking at Su Qing's perfect essay, he sighed, "If you were better at math and physics, your grades would definitely be way ahead of mine."

Perhaps girls are inherently deficient in math and physic, and Su Qing is no exception. It's not that she's particularly biased, but compared to her near-perfect scores in English and biochemistry, her math and physics scores are only just above the passing line.

Su Qing put away her test paper and smiled faintly. "I'm envious too. You got a perfect score in physics, so you can participate in the physics competition."

The physics competition offers more bonus points than English, and the prize money is higher, but her physics is so weak that she can't even register. She can only focus on perfecting her English first, until she's perfect.

"It doesn't matter, it doesn't matter. When the competition comes, we'll be in Jiangcheng anyway, so we'll go together."

Jiangcheng...

Su Qing's fingers, holding her pen, paused, and she nodded slightly. She was known for her quiet, soft voice, and her frame was thin and delicate. Her school uniform completely enveloped her.

If the girl hadn't looked up, hadn't scrutinized her features, her beauty would have been lost in the crowd, like a pearl covered in dust, unnoticed.

But she was truly beautiful, with a temperament as gentle as a chrysanthemum, a gorgeous face, and eyes as clear as water.

Looking at Su Qing, who was bent over her paper, Zhang Yihan said, "Su Qing, if you have any questions about physics or math, your deskmate can help you out!"

He adjusted his glasses on his nose, took a book in one hand, and began flipping through it, sitting upright.

"Thank you." Her voice was soft and clear, distant yet polite. The girl didn't even look up, just kept working on her homework. Then she pulled headphones from her bag and prepared to listen to a pre-recorded English text.

The phone was an old-fashioned model, one for the elderly, limited to making and receiving calls, and it had a headphone jack.

She hadn't originally wanted to buy a phone, but since she was about to compete in the Jiangcheng English Competition, she bought one anyway. She'd have to buy one sooner or later anyway.

Although the school explicitly prohibited cell phones, they knew they couldn't enforce it, so they turned a blind eye. As long as it wasn't excessive, it was still acceptable.

Just as she put on her headphones, she heard a ding.

It was a text message.

Su Qing pulled out her phone, assuming it was Su Rao telling her to drink more water or something like that.

[Come back today, let's have dinner together tomorrow.]

?

A strange message.

Su Qing glanced at it and unrolled her English paper without paying any attention.
