Chapter 170 - Chapter 170 Simple Warmth

Dinner was quite sumptuous.

Six dishes and a soup, including Mei Yeqin's least favorite vegetarian dish: stir-fried vegetables.

The rest was fine, looking quite good and delicious.

Jiang Sui sat across from Mei Yeqin and Pei Dai. He ate, watching his obsessive-compulsive aunt accept the food Pei Dai offered her.

It was still vegetables, something the whole family didn't particularly enjoy.

Mei Yeqin frowned slightly, but then ate anyway.

Perhaps because of Jiang Sui's gaze, when Mei Yeqin looked up, Jiang Sui quickly lowered his head.

But then a thought struck Mei Yeqin, and she felt a slight tingle of embarrassment.

Mei Yeqin glanced at Pei Dai, who had been unknowingly serving her food, and winked.

Pei Dai had just placed a piece of fish in Mei Yeqin's bowl and looked at her in confusion. "Qinqin, what's wrong? Do you need a tissue?"

He casually handed her a tissue.

"It's boneless now."

Pei Dai's voice was gentle, and his whole person radiated a soft glow. This was a side of him Jiang Sui hadn't usually seen, a side of him that seemed unique to Mei Yeqin.

Mei Yeqin met Pei Dai's gaze, a slight glance from the tip of her brow at Jiang Sui before she took the tissue and gently wiped the corner of her mouth.

Then Pei Dai continued to serve her food, a small mountain of it.

Jiang Sui, his eyes fixed on his nose, his nose focused on his heart, ate his meal. Mei Yeqin blushed slightly, leaving Pei Dai stunned. Mei Yeqin nudged Pei Dai gently with her elbow.

"I'll eat by myself, and you eat too."

Then she casually placed a piece of meat into Pei Dai's bowl.

But Mei Yeqin didn't like to pick out fish bones, so the piece of meat in Pei Dai's bowl still had bones in it. Pei Dai didn't care, instead smiling a bit foolishly.

The meal had been quite enjoyable, with a touch of warmth.

But as Jiang Sui's phone rang, the young man frowned slightly.

Mei Yeqin, who had been eating, noticed Jiang Sui's frown and looked at him.

"What's wrong?"

Mei Yeqin, who usually didn't like to talk too much, might have changed because of today's warmth, and perhaps this also influenced Jiang Sui. Jiang Sui, who usually didn't like to talk much, actually replied to Mei Yeqin.

"My dad."

Jiang Sui, still debating whether to answer the phone, finally answered it.

Mei Yeqin sighed softly as she watched Jiang Sui go out to answer the phone.

Although Ah Sui disliked Jiang Chenghua, even somewhat loathed him, she knew that Ah Sui still knew deep down that he was his father.

"Qinqin, don't sigh while eating."

Pei Dai's face was gentle, his voice soft as he looked at Mei Yeqin.

"Don't worry. Didn't you say Ah Sui is very capable?"

"So he can handle it."

Just two days ago, Mei Yeqin saw Jiang Chenghua looking angry.

She think it was because of Jiang Sui.

"I know Jiang Sui is very capable, but he's still a child after all, and he values family very much. Jiang Chenghua is actually conflicted."

Besides, Ah Sui...

Mei Yeqin was even a little angry at this moment. Jiang Chenghua, why didn't he call him at any other time? Why did he have to eat? Looking at the half bowl of rice left by Jiang Sui, she understood that when Jiang Sui came back, he would not be able to finish that half bowl of rice.
