Chapter 199 - Chapter 199 Chance Encounter

The next morning.

While Mei Yeqin was still asleep, Pei Dai left.

Like his youth, Pei Dai left cautiously, leaving a note for Mei Yeqin on the bedside table.

[Qinqin, I have something to deal with at the bureau. I'll go take care of it first. When you wake up, remember to drink some water and eat breakfast. Call me if you need anything. I've also booked a new hotel for you, location XXX.]

He was exceptionally attentive, and Mei Yeqin knew it.

The man's handwriting was unruly, unlike his own handwriting.

There was a certain tinge of something. Mei Yeqin, so accustomed to her bed, hadn't slept well all night.

After washing her face in the toilet, Mei Yeqin clutched the piece of paper. Perhaps because handwriting was beautiful, she somehow managed to slip Pei Dai's writing into her bag.

She left in her high heels.

She called Jiang Sui in her phone, and the call was answered promptly.

"Ah Sui, I'm in Wuzhen."

She said it bluntly.

Jiang Sui sat on the sofa. He hadn't completely forgotten last night's events. The boy had just showered, his fine hair dripping with water.

He had his head bowed, dressed in his home clothes.

"Yes, I know, Auntie. Pei Dai came to see me last night."

Mei Yeqin was meticulous and had guessed most of it. It seemed the boy hadn't known someone had hypnotized him last night.

"Yes, I was a little worried about you, so I asked him to come find you." Mei Yeqin didn't deny it.

"I know, Auntie. I'm fine. You're in Wuzhen. Where are you?" The boy seemed even more depressed than yesterday, and Mei Yeqin pinched her brows.

Looking around, she said, "I'm at the wonton shop downstairs from your house. What you want eat? I'll bring you something."

It tasted quite good. Perhaps because she hadn't eaten much yesterday, Mei Yeqin ate quite a bit. She hung up only after hearing the boy's response.

Even though she had a lot of reputation and her medical skills weren't bad, when it came to Jiang Sui's situation...

She always felt that her knowledge, her ideas, and everything else were lacking.

Mei Yeqin essentially felt that if she wasn't in need, she would have cured the boy long ago, saving him from suffering like this.

Wiping her lips, Mei Yeqin paid, clutching her steamed buns, and as she turned to leave, she ran into Su Qing walking towards her.

Su Qing hadn't expected to run into Mei Yeqin downstairs at Jiang Sui's house. She was stunned for a moment, then politely greeted, "Doctor Mei."

She was a little embarrassed, carrying her backpack and wearing a down jacket, looking like a child.

However, the shop owner seemed to recognize her and started, "Little girl, what are you eating? What are you bringing for your boyfriend today?"

Su Qing's face flushed.

She waved her hand. "No, no..."

"What no, little girl. You're still shy. I saw that boy secretly holding your hand the other day."

There's always a subtle awkwardness in those green years.

Mei Yeqin looked at the uneasy Su Qing. "Hello, Su Qing. Are you here to buy breakfast for Jiang Sui?"

Su Qing nodded.

Still a little worried about the boy's mood last night, Su Qing decided to visit him today. She hadn't expected to run into Mei Yeqin here. The slight awkwardness was overwhelming.

Mei Yeqin looked at Su Qing's blushing face. "I've already bought it for him. So, come with me."

Su Qing was about to refuse, but for some reason, she nodded and followed Mei Yeqin like a little follower.

She hadn't felt this awkward before. She didn't know what was happening today, but she felt like she wanted to find a hole in the ground and bury herself.

"When I first met you, I knew Ah Sui liked you."

Mei Yeqin's sudden words made Su Qing's face flush even redder.

At that time, she was still covered in bruises. "Thank you for that time, Dr. Mei."

It was the first time she'd encountered such a warm doctor. She didn't ask any questions, didn't look strange, simply inquired if she felt any pain, and applied medicine. For the first time, Su Qing felt respected by an adult.

Perhaps because of the change in her relationship with Jiang Sui, Su Qing hadn't previously reacted to Mei Yeqin with such emotion, but now, she felt the nervousness of meeting a parent.

The girl's rosy face, her eyes, especially clear, their radiant, water-like brilliance, made one want to pity her.

Mei Yeqin had so much to say, but it got stuck in her throat. She wanted to say it, but she didn't know how to begin.

She wanted to speak, but she worried that Jiang Sui would blame her.

Or what if the girl doesn't like Ah Sui that much.

Moral blackmail is something an adult wouldn't even bother to do.

Mei Yeqin's worried expression was evident, but Su Qing, who was half a head shorter than her, didn't notice. The young girl spoke slowly.

"Doctor Mei, I felt something was wrong with Jiang Sui yesterday."

She struggled tremblingly for a long time before finally speaking. Mei Yeqin froze for a moment, a look of astonishment and shock on her face.

Su Qing didn't miss Mei Yeqin's expression, and her worry deepened. She probably didn't know.

She pinched her fingers. "Last night at the milk tea shop, Jiang Sui was trembling all over, his eyes red."

Su Qing's eyes held no fear, no terror, only worry.

"Doctor Mei, I'm very worried about Jiang Sui, so I came to see him early this morning, secretly."

In the past, the young man would definitely cling to her.

But last night, he'd gone to bed as soon as he'd said he'd go, which struck Su Qing as very strange. Furthermore, the young man hadn't mentioned any plans for today.

These signs had Su Qing determined to visit Jiang Sui.

But she hadn't expected to run into Mei Yeqin.

Mei Yeqin listened to Su Qing's words, her expression complex, but she managed to conceal her emotions well.

"Well, what happened yesterday? Tell me in detail later."

Su Qing saw they were almost at Jiang Sui's doorstep, nodded, and said, "Okay."

Mei Yeqin pinched her brow, gathered her belongings, and went in first. Her voice was clear and gentle, "Ah Sui, look, who's here to see you? I ran into Su Qing downstairs."

Her words slowly brought Jiang Sui, who was sitting on the sofa, back from his dazed state. Shocked, he stood up, his thin body trembling. He then spotted a blushing, bewildered young girl behind Mei Yeqin.

Jiang Sui looked at Mei Yeqin, his eyes filled with gratitude.

Mei Yeqin opened her mouth, naturally understanding the young man's expression. She understood her nephew better than anyone else.

He didn't want Su Qing to worry.

"You guys chat first while I go heat up the buns."
