The wind carried stories, secrets, and faint scents over the Northern Kingdom, twisting through the spires of the castle and spilling into every courtyard, alley, and chamber. Niko leaned against the stone balcony, letting the night air thread through her dark hair as she closed her eyes. She did not need to see to know what was happening; the currents of the wind, the tremors in the air, the faint vibrations in the earth all spoke to her.

"The winds are very chatty tonight," she murmured to no one in particular, lips curving into a small, knowing smile.
