The security offices beneath the main Command Post hummed with the steady, reassuring energy of a Kingdom at peace. Yet, for all the stability, I felt a deep, low thrum of restless energy, the call of home. I sat at my desk, reviewing the latest security briefs concerning Elara's containment and advisory protocols at Roanridge. My business, BlackThorne Security, was still technically headquartered there, running the deep-shadow operations that the Crown preferred to keep off the books. But for the last eight months, since Elias's pregnancy had grounded us all closer to Alaric and the Northern Castle, Roanridge had felt impossibly far away.
