OMAKE TITLE:
"Mentor Attachment?"
It was a bright and sunny day in the Candy Kingdom. The peanut-brittle streets gleamed under the sunlight, filled with candy folk of all kinds—donuts, candy corns, jolly ranchers, cupcakes, marshmallows, lollipops, and Turkish delights. But unlike the sentient sweets from the original Adventure Time, their forms were far more humanoid—still candy, but closer to people than treats.
The air buzzed with life and laughter, the sound of joy as sweet as the air itself. Everyone was busy with their day, working, chatting, and playing in the sugary streets.
At the center of it all stood a massive layered tower, shaped like an enormous wedding cake. The frosting and decorations looked so perfect, you could almost taste them—though they were more for show than flavor.
Atop that towering cake stood the Candy Castle, its roof crowned by huge candy-brown branches draped in soft, pink fluff that looked just like cotton candy clouds. It was both majestic and whimsical—home to the ruler of this land, the sweet yet serious Princess Bonnibel Bubblegum.
The sweet Candy Monarch of the Candy Kingdom — a sentient mix of purple, pink, and magenta bubblegum — was the first true sentient being in all of Ooo to build her own kingdom. She's easily one of the most intelligent creatures to ever exist. I mean, seriously, she's insanely smart compared to anyone else on the continent of Ooo — and nobody could ever deny that.
She's been gathering every bit of knowledge she could find, learning how to harness it for herself across this strange world. She seeks it out, studies it, takes it — every scrap of information left behind by ancient beings like the humans. Through her journeys, she's tasted the salt and bitterness of struggle, the weight of countless challenges she's faced just to understand it all — and claim it as her own. All of it, for one purpose: to create something that would etch her name into history. After all… the Land of Ooo wasn't always like this.
———
For thousands and thousands—no, more of thousands—of years after the Great Mushroom War (the nuclear war) wiped out nearly everything, the world was left shattered and dying. Continents crumbled, oceans swallowed lands, and only a few fragments remained—eventually forming what we now call Ooo, a massive continent surrounded by scattered archipelagos. It wasn't something to laugh about—it was the end of the old world. For the first thousand years after that calamity that let the world filled with emptiness without any living creatures left—nothing lived. It was an The true era of the true century of emptiness. Then, somehow, life began to return—but it wasn't the same.
Strange new forms emerged: mutated creatures, remnants of old-world beings twisted by radiation or magic, and even objects that gained sentience over time. Rocks, candy, clouds—everything started to think, to talk, to live how? Because the world begins to be filled with magic again . And then as centuries passed, some of these beings became self-aware and intelegent enough to build small, primitive civilizations among the ruins of the old world. And after many more thousands of years, from those broken beginnings… the very first kingdom appeared. The Candy Kingdom itself.
Built by the brilliant mind of Princess Bubblegum since her childhood, the Candy Kingdom stood tall—a creation she took immense pride in. It made her the very first royal in all of Ooo. Because of her, every other civilization began to imitate her example, building their own kingdoms. She was part of it all—watching empires rise and crumble, forming diplomatic ties with both ancient realms long gone and the ones that still stand today. Her influence became a thread woven through the long, long history of Ooo's kingdoms. Now she stands above it all, always listening, always observing, gathering every bit of information from the lands she once negotiated with or watched grow behind her sweet smile she has been Observe all of it. Yet even with all her brilliance, she knows she isn't perfect. She's made mistakes—many of them—and deep down, she still wishes she could fix them.
For all her power, for all her brilliance and knowledge—she was afraid. Terrified that everything she built could one day crumble into nothing. That all her hard work, every sleepless night, every invention and decision that kept her kingdom standing tall… could be gone in an instant. She feared that more than anything.
But even deeper than that fear—was the fear of being alone.
She had her baby brother by her side, sure, but he couldn't do much beyond sucking on candy roots and drooling out syrupy juice. It was cute, maybe comforting for a moment… but it didn't ease the loneliness eating away at her.
That was a problem she thought intelligence could solve—or at least, that's what she told herself. She learned the hard way that it wasn't so simple. When she was just eight years old, she decided to create a family of her own. She took three lumps of bubblegum and gave them sentience—or maybe "forced evolution" would be a better way to put it. From those experiments, three new candy humanoids came to life: Uncle Gumbald, Aunt Lolly, and Cousin Chicle.
At last, she had a family—or at least, people she thought she could call family. But oh, how wrong she was. Little by little, she began to see the cracks in her creation. The family born from her own genius turned out… awful. Twisted in ways she never intended. It was something she wished she'd never had to witness.
A lot happened between her and the family she made—things she'd rather forget. She tried to talk it out, tried to fix it peacefully, but nothing worked. The ones who once swore to love and support her turned against her.
And then came the worst of it—their betrayal. They created something horrifying right under her nose: the formula for Dum Dum Juice. A chemical that could erase sentience itself. The thought of being exposed to it—of losing everything that made her, her—was terrifying beyond words. It was a formula meant to reduce any candy person into a easily controlled creatures, dim-witted being—and it was all planned by her own family, led by Uncle Gumbald himself. The people she created, the ones she wanted to love and be loved by—the one she dream to be her greatest family, had plotted to strip her of everything she was. The pain of that realization cut deeper than anything else. She just wanted a family—someone to care for, someone who would make her feel less alone.
But that dream shattered fast.
When she finally gathered the courage to confront them, things escalated. Harsh words, shouting, betrayal—all spilling out between her and the three she called family, especially Gumbald. They planned to use the Dum Dum Juice on her that very day. But in the cruelest twist of fate, the tables turned. The child that they had planned to subdue—the one who created them—defeated them instead. And in the end, they became the very thing they intended to make Bonnie into: mindless, simple candy people.
From that day on, something inside her died. Something she once treasured—something that used to make her happy—was just… gone. So she did what she thought she had to do: she turned back to science. Using the same kind of ingredients, she began creating new candy people—her own subjects. Hypocritical, wasn't it? She knew it, but she didn't care. She just wanted to fill the hole left inside her, the one carved out by betrayal and loneliness. Years of years passed as she start created her own place of land she created for her and the newly candy humannoid creatures she had been makes for past decades, and her kingdom grew. She built a thriving empire filled with loyal citizens who adored her. Yet… that feeling she once had—the warmth, the genuine joy—it never came back. No matter how hard she tried to recreate it, to fill the emptiness inside, she couldn't even remember what that feeling truly was anymore.
She still felt empty—numb, even. Nothing seemed to matter anymore. Not until she met someone she truly thought of as a friend in her earlies days of her development of her kingdom. For the first time in ages, she allowed herself to believe in that feeling again, to accept it. And for a brief moment, she felt something warm flicker inside her chest… something almost familiar. But it didn't last. That friend betrayed her—stole from her something she had planned to give as a gift. And just like that, another part of her was gone. It broke her in a way she couldn't describe. Yet still… she stood tall. She didn't fall.
But that wouldn't be the last time she lost something. Trying to escape the hollow, restless feeling that had haunted her for decades, she set out on a journey again—something she hadn't done in so long. She hoped that maybe, just maybe, traveling across Ooo would keep her mind off the emptiness gnawing inside her. After years of ruling and perfecting her kingdom, she finally left it behind for a while, wandering through strange lands once more. And somewhere deep in the some part of ooo… she met someone.
Marceline, the Vampire Queen— an wild, untamed women—Someone she never expected to meet, let alone fall in love with. A half-demon, half-vampire woman who turned her world upside down. With Marceline, she felt something she thought was gone forever—the warmth, the spark, the feeling she'd been longing for all this time. The same feeling that had died inside her long ago… it was back. The two of them were wild together—reckless, passionate, unpredictable. They did things she'd never imagine doing before, and for once, she didn't care. She hadn't felt that happy in so, so long. And for the first time in what felt like forever, she was glad—truly glad—to be alive.
But it seemed she had spoken too soon.
After a while, reality hit her. She couldn't keep living like that—reckless, free, unbound life she has been do quite sometimes right now with her girlfriend. But she now realize She couldn't do it no more—She was a princess, a ruler, the monarch of a kingdom for Glob's sake. Her duty had to come first—before anything else, even before the woman she loved. Their relationship eventually fell apart after an accident in the Glass Kingdom, where stress and responsibility finally caught up to her. That's where it ended.
And just like that, she lost again—for the third time. The warmth, the love, the piece of her that once came back to life… died all over again. So she did the only thing she knew how to do—bury herself in her work. She threw everything into her kingdom, her people, her inventions. If she couldn't bring that feeling back, then at least she could keep her kingdom and people in Ooo still standing.
....
———
After centuries of carrying that hollow feeling in her chest, she finally let her guard down—and that was the biggest mistake she'd ever make. Disaster struck. A band of ruthless bandits stormed the Candy Kingdom, capturing her people and killing some of them without mercy. She fought back—of course she did—but even with all her strength and brilliance, she couldn't stop everything. Their leader managed to capture her Despite all the resistance she gave to the bandit, she still couldn't win. In that moment, she couldn't help but regret one of her earlier decisions—disbanding the Gumball Guards because they were too violent. If only she'd kept them… maybe things would've been different.
She even caught herself wishing Billy was still around to help, but he'd long since retired, and she had no idea where he'd gone. For the first time in ages, Princess Bubblegum felt truly powerless.
(Author:take that old hag!)
As her hair was yanked upward by the bandit leader—a giant, broad-shouldered mutant with long tusks hanging from his jaw, one of them broken from her earlier attack—a miracle happened.
She was saved.
By a stranger… no, a kid—and his yellow dog. The dog wasn't ordinary; it could stretch, shapeshift, and grow to massive sizes at will. Bubblegum watched in shock as the two fought against Santos, the bandit leader. Their teamwork was rough, wild, but strangely effective.
And then… she saw it happen.
The child—no older than five—defeated Santos. Her pink eyes widened, a mix of awe and horror washing over her face as she watched the boy lift a spiked club—weapon that bandits leader brough and slam it into the mutant's face multiple Times,i lost count. Flesh tore, bone cracked—and yet, the boy left Santos alive, his face ruined beyond recognition. For the first time in centuries… Princess Bubblegum didn't know what to say.
Yet despite the mess of emotions swirling inside her—horror, worry, and the sting of seeing her laboratory in ruins—she still felt a strange sense of relief. Why? She didn't even know herself… not until that moment. When the fight was over, the child helped his dog stand and then walked toward her. He stopped right in front of her, looked her straight in the eyes, and stretched out his small hand.
"Are you okay, Princess?" the boy asked.
His voice was soft, kind. She stared at him—this bizarre little stranger with bright blue eyes and a warm smile. She didn't know who he was or where he came from, but one thing was certain. He saved her. He saved her kingdom. And somehow… that was enough.
...
———
As time went on, she got to know the child—Finn, he said his name was—and his magical yellow dog, Jake, who could shapeshift at will. To her surprise, the two weren't just wanderers; they were the sons of the well-known problem-solving dog couple, Joshua and Margaret. Well… Jake was their real son. Finn wasn't a dog—he was human, adopted into their family. But still, the bond between the two was closer than blood. They were brothers in every sense that mattered.
Although everything eventually returned to normal, Princess Bubblegum found herself witnessing something all too familiar—the rise of a new hero of Ooo, the first since Billy. It was the same story repeating itself again and again, a cycle she'd watched play out countless times through the ages. History looping like a scratched record.
A "hero"? Please. She didn't buy into that crap. To her, heroes were just employees—people who did their jobs as protectors and errand boys in the chaotic land of Ooo. She'd seen enough of them to know their worth and their limits. Still, she understood how vital heroes were to the fragile balance of this world.
And so, she played her part. Quietly, efficiently. She provided new hero candidates to the Mannish Man of Mount Cragdor—without him ever knowing her true motives.
That was the kind of ruler Princess Bubblegum had become after centuries of pain and regret—shaped by her own mistakes and the three times the thing inside her had died. Heartless when she needed to be. Cold enough to play the long game of manipulation if it meant protecting her kingdom… or herself. She had mastered the art of smiling while hiding her true intentions, wearing that same sweet, fake expression that fooled everyone around her.
That was what she always did. What she always would do.But this time… it was different.
Something about that day—about them, especially that child, Finn—shook her in a way she hadn't felt in ages. Her emotions tangled and twisted, confusing even to herself. For the first time in centuries, Princess Bubblegum wasn't sure what she was feeling anymore.
Let's say—after being saved by the boy and his dog that day, she just couldn't get them out of her mind. Quietly, without anyone knowing, she began watching them from afar—especially the boy, Finn. There was something about him she couldn't shake off, something that didn't fit the world she knew so well.
And then, it hit her....Finn wasn't a mutant, nor a sentient creature born from magic, nor one of the strange beings that filled the Land of Ooo.
He was human.
A real, living human—an ancient species from the long-lost world that had perished thousands of years ago. The very same beings whose remnants and knowledge she'd spent centuries studying. To see one standing before her, breathing, moving, living… it was almost impossible to believe.
"i may be the last of my kind,i don't know."
That's what came out of his small mouth the first time they really talked—right after he and his dog brother saved her during that accident. His voice carried no awareness of his own state; he had no idea how heavy those words actually were. With that small, innocent smile, he looked up at her—completely unaware of the weight behind what he said. Those words hit her harder than she expected. She felt… pity, yeah, but also something else—something that made her weirdly relate to the boy.
Why? She didn't know. She never did. Even though she kept wondering about it herself—it just felt… familiar somehow, like she could relate to Finn. But she wasn't sure why. Maybe that's why she started watching him more closely, seeing how he grew. Funny enough, she ended up becoming his teacher—his mentor. This kid who'd one day become a hero actually valued knowledge more than anything. It was kinda hard not to admire that.
And studying him up close as his mentor? She was honestly excited about it. Studying the last human in existence—it had been ages since she felt that kind of thrill.
Although she still had that same mindset—like Princess Bubblegum always did—cold, heartless, and hiding behind her sweet fake smile. She'd been like that ever since she started focusing on her kingdom. Deep down, she planned to use the boy—Finn—once he grew older and became a hero. To keep balance in Ooo by watching his every move, just like she did with the heroes before him. She was already planning several steps ahead, ready to nurture Finn until he'd kneel before her one day—if he ever decided to swear his loyalty to her.
Or if Finn ever started to have a crush on her, she could use that too—make him do whatever she wanted. She knew very well how male creatures worked. Even though Finn was human, she already understood enough about boys and men—yet even if her knowledge came from old human literature and wasn't always accurate,The human boy is still a bit of a mystery to her after all.
She swore to herself she'd see him as nothing more than a tool for her own gain, something to use to keep her kingdom safe. After all, she knew how useless her Banana Guards were. If he ever became unneeded, she'd discard him like any other failed project—banned him or didn't want to see him anymore. Even if she had to use words like "friend" to keep him close, it would be nothing but a lie for Finn.
But… somehow, that didn't happen.
———
Why? Oh, she didn't see it coming. As she became his mentor—teaching him about knowledge and science—she was surprised by how quickly Finn understood things, even though he wasn't even ten years old yet. That spark inside him… it stirred something within her, though she couldn't quite tell what it was.
She kept giving Finn harder and harder subjects, trying to observe how the young human would handle them. To her surprise, the boy actually enjoyed the challenge, she see how human intelegent works and it fascinating to her to studies as she become his mentor up close.
Hers too… she enjoyed it? She really did—teaching him everything she knew (well, not everything), and the kid actually responded well. Sure, there were times he messed up or didn't get something right away—bit slow, but he always caught on eventually. Watching him learn under her guidance… it made the Candy Monarch smile wide. She hadn't felt this kind of excitement, fun, and joy in a long time.
Oh, she was pleased by it—seeing a creature in Ooo actually want to learn. Most creatures she knew—mutant humanoids, sentient animals, talking fruits, even living garbage—were intelligent, sure, but never on her level. Yet here she was, teaching a human—an extinct species—and she was surprised at how quickly he could grasp it all.
Oh, how fun she had teaching that boy through the years—all sorts of subjects, every little thing she could think of. She was happy, really happy... But weirdly, she started to feel something she hadn't in ages. Something that had died in her long ago—three times, to be exact. Somehow, by spending her time with this kid, nurturing him, it flickered back to life. She taught him a lot, sure… but it seemed the kid—Finn—ended up teaching her too. How to feel joy again. Real joy, not the fake kind she'd worn for centuries.
She smiled… not the fake kind, not forced—a real one. Every time she saw him coming to the Candy Kingdom, whether it was for his studies or just groceries with his yellow dog brother, she'd forget her work for a bit. She'd go to them, just to chat or to teach Finn something new—anything she could turn into a lesson. And again, she found herself having fun… real, simple fun, like she used to long ago. Oh, how delightful she thought it was… watching the boy learn and grow under her guidance. But then came the time when that delight turned bittersweet. Around the age of nine, Finn—the human—stopped being her student. Why? Because she had already taught him everything she could. There was nothing left for her to teach; he'd absorbed it all like a sponge.
It was strange, really. For three years she had been his mentor, ever since she first saw him through the glass windows of her Candy Kingdom classroom—a tiny seven-year-old human sitting among candy citizens, eager and bright. She had been watching him long before he ever knew it. But now… she couldn't spend hours with him like she used to back when she was his teacher. Finn didn't come by the Candy Kingdom as often anymore, and that made her feel—lonely. The same old loneliness that had haunted her for centuries crept back in. Even surrounded by her candy citizens, she still felt empty inside.
That's why, every time Finn did come by—even if just for a short visit—she'd drop whatever she was doing to see him. Even a small chat was enough. Enough to light her up again, to make her feel warm inside… even if she'd never admit it out loud. She didn't realize it at first, but over the years—after all the days spent teaching him, guiding him, watching him grow—she'd started to form an attachment to the young hero. Somewhere along the way, he stopped being just a tool or a project to her.
She no longer saw him as an item to use, but as a living being… a person. Someone who'd gotten closer to her than she ever expected.
And that scared her—because deep down, she knew she couldn't let him go. This attachment she felt—it was heavy. After decades of loss, betrayal, heartbreak, and endless loneliness, even surrounded by her candy subjects showering her with love, she still felt empty inside. That hollowness never really went away. But then that human boy came into her life… and somehow, he brought the light back—that thing. That's why she couldn't let it end—she just couldn't. Once she realized what she truly felt, she made sure to always keep up with any news about Finn: his adventures, his heroic stunts, everything. She wanted to know it all.
And so, she ordered one of her most trusted agents—besides Peppermint Butler—to secretly keep an eye on the tree fort where the boy lived with his dog brother. She used to have Peppermint Butler monitor them just out of curiosity—wanting to know more about the strange boy and his magic dog who'd saved her kingdom that day. But now... it was different. The reason had changed.
Now she did it just to keep an eye on him—her beloved pupil.
Unhealthy? Yeah, she knew it. She realized how wrong it sounded, how obsessive it might look from the outside. But she didn't care. She couldn't. She'd already lost that "Light" inside her three times before… and she refused to let it die again. Not this time. Even if it meant gambling everything.

———————————————————
"Hmmm… it all looks good," said a soft, graceful voice—calm yet carrying a kind of authority that only came with age and intellect. The voice belonged to none other than the ruler of the Candy Kingdom herself—Princess Bubblegum.
She stood inside a massive lab chamber, the air filled with the faint hum of machines and the sweet smell of sugar and chemicals mixed together. Her pink, candy-like skin gleamed under the sterile white lights as she scribbled something onto her clipboard with practiced precision. In front of her, a large capsule stood upright, tubes and wires connected all around it—some bubbling, some sparking faintly with static energy. PB tilted her head slightly, eyes narrowing in curiosity.
"Hmmm… well, that finishes test three and eight," she muttered, tapping the pen against the board. "Just need to make sure it's stable—wouldn't want any bad biscuits happening around here, are we? Heheheh"She chuckled quietly at her own joke, a small, almost childish laugh escaping her lips before she went back to humming a tune under her breath—completely absorbed in her new invention.
Her new invention didn't quite clear what it is, because the campsul itself look didn't clear much because the glow liquid chemical and sugar inside it didn't Made it quite visible and because the room—lab Chamber (new lab Chamber she been build.) itself very dark even though were in ontop room of her castle."hmmm the color already went great also, seem didn't had same poison effect like before,i hope so.."said the sugary princess as she write down every detail of it.
Her new invention wasn't entirely clear yet—not even to the naked eye. The capsule itself was hard to see through, filled with a glowing, swirling mix of chemical and sugar compounds that made the inside almost opaque. The dim lighting of the lab didn't help either. It was one of her newer chambers—freshly built at the very top of her castle—but she preferred it dark. The glow of her machines looked prettier that way.
"Hmmm… the color's coming out nicely this time," she murmured, her eyes flicking across her clipboard. "And no poison reaction like before—hopefully." She jotted down more notes with a soft hum, a little smile tugging her lips.
Just as she leaned closer to the capsule, the candy door behind her creaked open. A polite voice broke through the hum of machinery.
"Excuse me, Your Highness—Princess Bubblegum."
She turned her head slightly. Standing by the entrance was a short candy person—4'8", with glossy red hair neatly slicked back with a white streak running through it. His pale candy-white skin shimmered faintly under the light, red lines tracing like veins down his neck. Dressed sharply in a crisp blue butler's suit, complete with a red bow tie and polished shoes, he bowed low with practiced grace.
"What is it, Peppermint Butler?" she asked without taking her eyes off the capsule.
The butler raised his head slightly, his tone still calm and formal. "I'm here to report something, Princess. You've received a call… from the Mannish Man."Her hand froze mid-note, the tip of her pen pressing slightly into the paper. "…The Mannish Man, huh?" she said quietly, finally turning her gaze toward him, her candy-pink eyes narrowing with faint curiosity.
She wondered what her long-time work partner, the Mannish Man, could possibly want this time. The minotaur had been the guardian of the Enchiridion for centuries—brave, loud, overly cheerful, and always ready to test any hero who dared to climb Mount Cragdor. She'd known him and the Key-per for ages, ever since before the Candy Kingdom had even settled into order.
So, for him to be the one calling her first? That was… rare. Almost suspicious. Usually, it was her who reached out—sending him word of a new hero candidate who might be worthy of holding the Enchiridion.
"Hmmm… that's interesting," she muttered under her breath, turning slightly toward Peppermint Butler. "Mannish never calls first unless it's something big. Either about a new hero… or something worse. He never contacts me first otherwise."She crossed her arms, her tone sharp but curious. "Well then, speak, Peppermint Butler. What did he say?"
The little butler nodded, his candy eyes blinking once before he straightened his posture.
"He says he wants to know about Master Finn's plan to get the Enchiridion, Princess—the one you both discussed before."
Her expression didn't change much at first—still calm, still composed—but the corner of her lips twitched in mild surprise."That plan, huh?" she muttered softly. Then she sighed, a small, tired smile forming. "sigh..Heh… that old pal, seems that goofy bull still doesn't know patience. I told him I'd let Finn know about the Enchiridion when he turns twelve. Not now."She chuckled quietly, shaking her head at Mannish Man's typical impatience. "Always too eager to test the next hero… never could wait a few years."
Peppermint Butler, still standing neatly, adjusted his collar before continuing in his usual calm tone had bit sweats run down his candy cheeks."Well, that's the thing, Princess Bubblegum," he said. "It seems young Master Finn… already found out about the Enchiridion. And—" he hesitated for just a second "—he already got it. Mannish Man himself confirmed it."
For a moment, silence filled the lab. The faint bubbling of the glowing capsule behind her was the only sound.
Then—
"HE WHAT?!" Princess Bubblegum's voice echoed through the chamber, louder than any explosion her experiments had ever made. Her eyes went wide, her clipboard slipping from her hand and clattering to the floor.Peppermint Butler flinched slightly but didn't move, knowing better than to interrupt her shock.
Princess Bubblegum's shock wasn't just surprise—it was straight-up panic. Why? Because this wasn't supposed to happen.Yeah, she did plan to send Finn for the Enchiridion someday—to fulfill his so-called "Hero" role like the ones before him. But she had delayed it on purpose. Finn was originally supposed to get it when he turned nine, but she quietly pushed that plan to when he'd be twelve instead.
Why? Simple—because she got attached.
She wanted more time with him. More time to watch him grow, to study him, to keep him close and under her radar. So he wouldn't get himself killed doing something stupid—even though, yeah, she knew Finn always did that kind of thing anyway. Still, those were "safe" kinds of danger to her. He'd get hurt, sure, but never badly. But once he got that book—once he officially became a "Hero"—everything would change. He'd be out there, way beyond her control. And that scared her more than she wanted to admit.
She didn't even know what was inside the Enchiridion. She'd never opened it herself—wasn't even allowed to by mannish man.All she knew was that once Finn got his hands on it, he'd start walking a path she couldn't follow not keep watch of him no more. And she wasn't ready to let that happen.
So when Peppermint Butler told her that Finn had already gone to Mount Cragdor and somehow got the Enchiridion, her mind just—blanked. For a solid second, she couldn't even process it before her brain went straight into chaos.
"HOW?! HOW COULD FINN KNOW ABOUT THIS?!" she yelled, gripping her pink hair with both hands. "That information was sealed! No one in Ooo knows about the Enchiridion's location except me,you and Mannish Man!"
Her voice cracked a little—not from fear, but from pure disbelief. The air in the lab went still; even the machines seemed to go silent, the hum fading like they knew better than to make a sound.
Her thoughts spun out of control.Who could've told him?Only one name came to mind—someone old enough, reckless enough to know that kind of secret beside her. Someone with that untamed personality that always gave her a headache.
But she quickly scowled and shook her head.
"No… she wouldn't," Bubblegum muttered to herself. "That girl never gets involved unless it benefits her."Still… the thought lingered. And she hated that it did."Peppermint Butler!" she snapped, turning sharply. "Prepare the royal candy chariot—I'm going to find that kid and give him a proper scolding!"
As the butler excused himself to prepare the royal candy chariot for the princess, she got ready to head toward the Tree Fort in the Grasslands — home of Finn the Human and his stretchy yellow pit bull, Jake the Dog.
"This kid's really something. I'm gonna ask him a lot of questions about this! Wait there, young man — you're in big trouble, Finn!" said Princess Bubblegum as she tossed her white lab coat aside and rushed out of her lab chamber, locking the candy door behind her.
By the time she arrived at the willow Tree Fort, she saw Finn sitting with one leg bandaged with PB&J on his hands — he'd sprained it after kicking the giant pink ogre's belly at Mount Cragdor two days ago. The sight made her both worried and ready to scold him. Since then, she often came by to check on the young hero whenever she could (though, truthfully, she just wanted to see him).
Even when she found out he already had the Enchiridion, she didn't allow by him to peek at the book — not even after asking nicely. Instead, she kept her focus on looking after Finn… especially that injured leg.
