Chapter 11 - chapter 11: A FIVE MILLION DOLLAR MANSION! TOMSON RIVIERA!

The guards watched as the owner of the penthouse at the prestigious One Hyde Park stepped out of the taxi—a young man. The security guard's expression shifted from surprise to shock and finally to disbelief.

"The new owner! So this is the guy who bought the most luxurious unit at One Hyde Park!"

Despite One Hyde Park's fame, less than a third of the units had been sold. Why? One word: expensive! also, those who could afford it often opted for villas instead. Who would buy a large apartment?

The young man before him was undeniably handsome, but his attire was quite ordinary. The security guard initially assumed Charles was visiting friends or family. Who would have thought he could drop $5 million just like that? Truly, you can't judge a book by its cover!

"Hello, hello! Mr. Matthews, I apologize for the oversight, let me take your information and issue your access pass!" The security guard was now extremely respectful.

"Thank you very much!"

The guard then proceeded to register Charles Matthews into the system. While waiting, Charles felt a bit bored and glanced outside, noticing the taxi driver hadn't left yet, he wondered why the driver wasn't off to find more work.

At that moment, the driver happened to look his way, thinking the driver was greeting him, Charles gave a slight smile in return.

Just then, the security guard finished his work, "Mr. Matthews, sorry for the wait, you're all set now and you can come and go freely!"

"Great, thanks. Oh, by the way, there will be a delivery truck coming soon with some stuff for me, could you let them through?" Charles remembered the clothes he had ordered and mentioned it to the guard.

"Sure thing, I'll notify them for you, Mr. Matthews!" With that, Charles walked inside.

Watching Charles walk away, the security guard couldn't help but feel a bit envious, "I wonder which family he's from, he's really something special!" even though he worked there and could come and go as he pleased, nothing inside belonged to him.

As Charles entered the luxurious estate, he was greeted by the breathtaking layout and the top-tier gardens that seemed to blend seamlessly with nature. He was thoroughly impressed; even the grand mansion from his hometown couldn't compare to this place.

After wandering around for a while, thoroughly enjoying himself, Charles made his way into the Hall. The grand and majestic reception area was a place every resident passed through when returning home. The glass dome ceiling offered an unobstructed view of the blue sky and white clouds.

Inside the Hall, two rows of elegantly dressed women in professional outfits stood by the doors. At the front was Eric Collins, the property manager of the estate. He was anxiously waiting, having heard from the security guard that the mysterious owner of the top-floor penthouse was about to arrive.

They had no information about this mysterious buyer, but that didn't stop them from wanting to make a good impression. He kept glancing at the entrance, curious about the young man the security guard had described as extremely handsome.

Just then, Charles walked in and the sight startled him. "Whoa! What's going on?" Clearly, he had no idea about the commotion he had caused.

Eric, upon seeing the handsome and unfamiliar young man enter, felt a jolt of excitement. "He's here!" he quickly moved to greet him.

"Mr. Matthews, welcome to One Hyde Park Residences," he said warmly.

The line of beautiful receptionists echoed in unison, "Welcome, Mr. Matthews, to One Hyde Park Residences."

The enthusiastic service made Charles realize that all this was for him. "This feels pretty awesome!" he thought, keeping a calm exterior while feeling quite pleased inside.

It seemed that the mysterious system had already smoothed everything over for him.

"Thank you!" he nodded politely, though his heart was secretly thrilled.

The Residences consisted of four buildings, building A and building C were for sale, while building B and building D were available for rent.

Anyone living here had to be someone important, as ordinary folks couldn't afford it. Celebrities, business moguls, heirs of wealthy families and top-tier billionaires—all connected and influential.

The property manager Collins wore a proud expression as he said, "It's our honor to serve Mr. Matthews!" he then handed over a business card with both hands.

At this exclusive residence, every owner received personal concierge services, available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Charles tucked the card away and was personally escorted by the property manager.

Just then, the elevator of Building C opened and a stunning woman stepped out, her heels clicking on the floor. Her eyes widened in surprise at the scene in the hall, her alluring lips slightly parted. The last time she saw such a scene was when the developers of this luxury residence visited.

"Miss William!"

A team leader noticed owner Jessica William emerging and quickly greeted her.

"Sis Rachel, what's going on here?" Jessica asked, puzzled. "Our building's penthouse was just sold for the full price today—five billion! Manager Collins just left with the owner, you see, he's both handsome and young. I wonder which family he belongs to!" Sis Rachel said enviously, pointing at Charles' departing figure.

"The penthouse duplex?" Jessica was taken aback.

Even though her family was wealthy, coming up with five billion in cash was a bit of a stretch.

It's common to have exes these days, but someone who can casually drop five billion is incredibly rare.

And for a penthouse? If it were a mansion, maybe, but a penthouse? that just shows serious financial muscle.

It's like asking a millionaire to buy an $800,000 car; they'd likely hesitate.

Jessica glanced at Charles' retreating figure, just in time to see him turn and enter the elevator, her eyebrows knitting together.

"Hmm..." A familiar feeling washed over her.

She felt like she knew this person, yet he seemed completely unfamiliar.

In a city like this, the social circles aren't that large.

She'd usually have met any young man with that kind of cash, but Charles didn't fit the bill.

Yet, there was something familiar about him, like she'd seen him before but couldn't quite place it.

"Hey, Sis Rachel, do you know what his name is?" she asked her companion.

"His last name is Matthews, Charles Matthews!" Sis Rachel replied simply, as it wasn't a secret.

"Charles Matthews—" Jessica's eyes lit up as she finally realized why the name sounded so familiar.

Charles was a student in the Business Management department at Huahai University, just like her. During a business negotiation event, he had made it to the finals.

Jessica, on the other hand, had shown a knack for business from a young age, by her freshman year, she was already gaining experience in her own company, known for her decisive, unconventional and imaginative approach. The school had even invited her to be a judge for the event.

It was amusing to think back; she had heard about Charles back then—a campus celebrity. When he saw her, he was bold and eager to make an impression, trying to catch her attention, his performance was indeed refreshing.

She had admired him at the time, though not in a romantic way, after all, she had already stepped out of the university's ivory tower and into the real world.

However, her busy schedule led her to gradually forget about him, later, when she thought about recruiting him, he had already graduated and they lost contact. She regretted it for a while.

She never expected to run into him here. "What's up? Miss William, do you know Mr. Matthews?" someone asked.

"Yes!" Jessica nodded.

"No wonder!" Sis Rachel said, understanding dawning on her face.

She knew who Jessica was—the heir of the William Group. With her connections, it was no wonder she could afford a mansion worth five million.

"By the way, is Miss William going out for...?"

"There's a dinner meeting tonight," Jessica replied, a brief, wry smile flickering across her face, which Sis Rachel didn't notice.

"I see! then I won't disturb Miss William any longer!" Sis Rachel said, looking at Jessica with admiration, to her, Jessica seemed to live the life every woman dreamed of.

"Alright," Jessica nodded, not offering any further explanation as she headed out.

"Ding!" The elevator reached the top floor.

"Mr. Matthews, we're here," the property manager announced.

"Okay," Charles replied, With Eric's help, he set up the three-layer security system using palm and eye recognition before finally seeing his luxurious home.

The front door was made of expensive wood, adorned with intricate handmade decorations and a masterfully carved dragon and phoenix design, exuding grandeur and elegance.

There were many ways to unlock the door, so there was no need for the property manager's assistance here. When Charles acquired this mansion, the built-in AI system immediately recorded his iris and fingerprints. Of course, for the owner's security, the door could also be unlocked with a key code.

Charles opened the front door.

The massive 215-square-foot foyer was enough to make anyone envious, even the property manager, who was stepping inside for the first time, couldn't help but stare in awe.

"Alright, Mr. Matthews, if you need anything, just give me a call, I'll be heading out now," the manager said, despite his reluctance to leave such a magnificent place.

"Okay," Charles nodded.

Watching Eric take the elevator down, Charles finally moved forward.

As he entered the suite, the enormous living room came into view.

The decor was a blend of simple luxury, with a strong modern style.

Classic black-and-white sofas paired with various top-tier custom furniture pieces perfectly complemented the interior design.

"Beautiful!"

Even someone as worldly as Charles was slightly taken aback by the elegance.

He then proceeded to inspect all the rooms.

One word echoed in his mind: spacious!

The top-floor duplex mansion at One Hyde Park was a large flat, split into two levels: 6,460 square feet on the lower level and 4,305 square feet on the upper level, totaling over 10,765 square feet. The place had everything: a master bedroom, study, conference room, private pool, home theater, gym, wine cellar and guest rooms. Most importantly, it was located in the heart of Huahai City and it was the tallest building in the area.

Charles could enjoy a 360-degree view of Huahai, taking in all the sights of the bustling metropolis, it was said to be the best spot for viewing the city's nightscape.

He then went to the master bedroom, placing two property deeds and another watch from his backpack into the safe.

After a short rest, he received a call from the Armani delivery team, he remembered he had bought a lot of clothes that morning and quickly went down to have them help bring everything up, as it would have taken him several trips otherwise.

Seeing the delivery guys looking a bit stiff, Charles smiled warmly, "Thanks, guys! Feel free to look around!"

The two Armani delivery men were taken aback by his words, then looked at Charles gratefully, they had seen luxury before, delivering to many wealthy homes, but they had never seen a place as lavishly decorated as this, even the villas couldn't compare.

With Charles's permission, they took their time admiring the place. After half an hour, they left satisfied, bidding Charles farewell, they now had plenty of stories to boast about back at work, sure to make their colleagues envious.

Meanwhile, Charles headed to the neighborhood supermarket to stock up on household essentials.

It wasn't until evening that Charles finally settled onto the balcony sofa, taking in the night view of Huahai City. The city was ablaze with lights, towering skyscrapers standing like a giant steel beast.

As he gazed down at the wealth flowing through the Huangpu River, with neon lights flickering in a myriad of colors, the evening breeze brushed against him. Charles allowed his mind to completely relax, letting go of all the hardships of the past year, replaced by a surge of bold ambition.

At this moment, the entire city of Huahai felt like it was at his feet.

After about ten minutes, Charles's phone suddenly rang.
