Ivy's POV
Grant's face twisted with confusion as he tried to process what I had just revealed. "So wait. You're saying your mother agreed to marry Faith just to raise Jade? But when did he renegotiate and why?"
I rolled my eyes in frustration. "After living together for a few years, he developed feelings for her. He fell in love with my mother. His mate had passed away and his bond had faded naturally. But my mother's situation was entirely different—her mate was still very much alive."
"Her bond never faded..." Fiona whispered, her voice trailing off as the implications of my statement sank in.
I nodded solemnly. "My mother could never let go of her connection to my father. She never developed romantic feelings for Faith—she was perfectly content with their friendship. But when Faith suggested they become a real couple—"
"He used the threat of divorce to coerce her into it," Fiona interjected, leaning forward with intensity.
"Exactly," I confirmed, meeting her eyes.
