Ivy's POV
"Because!" Chelsea snarled, rising to her full height to confront her parents with blazing eyes. "You were both pathetically weak. I deserved to be ranked. I pushed myself beyond limits to grow stronger, only to find myself trapped in mediocrity because of you." Her face twisted with disgust as she spat the words.
Her parents physically recoiled from the venom in her voice. "We loved you," Kitty whispered, her words trembling in the air between them.
"What's so terrible about being unranked?" someone shouted from the crowd.
"Yeah, what's wrong with that?" Another voice joined in, and soon the entire pack erupted in defensive outrage.
"Everything!" Chelsea whirled to face the crowd, standing defiantly. "You're all weak. Insignificant. Impoverished. Pitiful wolves content with your meaningless existence. I deserve to be luna. I deserve to lead. I deserve—" She stamped her foot like a petulant child.
