Chapter 2 - 1

Her heart began to pound against her chest, her hands trembling, she tugged at the collar of her dress.

She mentally encouraged herself 'This is not the first time you've interviewed someone' she thought trying to trick her mind.

'But the anxiety is still there' her consciousness whispered.

She forcefully snapped herself out of her stream of thoughts, she inhaled, the cool December air filling her lungs. She walked forward, posture straight and with the air of confidence.

She lifted her hand to knock but halted when the door freaks open, vibrant purple eyes peeked out of the crack.

She stared at the eyes, it felt magical witnessing the peculiar eyes, then it blinked.

"Who are you?" A feminine voice, of course what did she thought it was.

Ignoring the malice laced tone, she smiled "Hello ma'am, I am from the company of Addolorata" she considered what she would say next "My name is Idalia, I called you the other night!"

The woman's eyes widened, the door closed abruptly, metal can be heard on the other side then the door suddenly opened.

"Well my apologies girl! I thought you were here for other reasons!" She plastered the most enchanting smile on her "Come in!" She ushered her in.

Her nerves was rattled, her confident facade dropped, she roamed her eyes inside the house.

It was a small house, but good enough for two people, a staircase welcomed the front door, purple potted flowers littered inside the house. Lots of things hanged up the ceiling: crystals tied to rope, dream catchers, more plants.

There was no space to breathe inside "Marnie! We have a visitor, come down!" The woman screeched.

She cleared her throat and the woman looked at her, eyes sharp "You can sit down over there girl" The woman pointed at the couch "Make yourself comfortable"

The woman went to what she assumes as the kitchen, she sat down and smoothed her dress flicking an imaginary piece of lint. She took a deep breath, her lungs seemed not to fill with air.

She paused when the clink of glas can be heard, the woman sat in front of her, a Cheshire smile graced her faced.

The lady's eyes seems to gleam with something, she can't seem to get an idea of what is it, or maybe it was just a trick of light.

"Miss Lottie, I am here to conduct an interview–" The woman squealed and clapped her hands "Yes! Yes! You want to know about my life?" The older woman grinned so hard that Idalia's own muscle cheeks twitch.

Lottie-seemingly remembering her dignity-cleared her throat "Now what do you want to know about girl?"

She pursed her lips "I apologize Miss Lottie but I am not here for you actually" she mentally slapped herself

"What I mean is I'm here to interview you about your sister" she adjusted her posture against the harsh gaze of the woman.

Idalia felt like she was getting skinned alive by the woman's stare no glare.

"Marnie!" Lottie screamed wanting to storm off but Idalia held her hand, she reluctantly sat back down.

A door closed somewhere upstairs "It's seven am in the morning Lottie, why do you keep shouting?" The woman called Marnie huffed

"Oh, hush! Sir down, this girl wants to interview you" Lottie's tone is laced with bitterness and the other older woman's eyes landed on her.

She felt electricity travel from the tips of her fingers to her brain, the womans eyes was so bright.

"Your not here for me either are you?" She asked with, Idalia was taken aback but recovered "Why yes Miss Marnie, I'm here about your other sister"

An oppressing silence filled the room, but Idalia didn't know if it. She thought it was just the silence of two sisters mourning their sister.

"I can't help you with what your looking for" Marnie walked out of the room and went back upstairs.

She looked at the other woman pleadingly, Lottie stood up and scowled at her "Please leave Miss Idalia" She pointed at the door

"Wait!" She was pushed out by the older woman, the door unceremoniously closed right her face, hitting her nose.

She knocked on the door again "Miss Lottie! I apologize if I may have said something rude!"

Her incessant knocking was ignored for at least fifteen minutes. Her shoulders sagged and went back to her car.

Another day she'll have to be back.
