The knights then looked ahead and saw the battle of Duke Phillips vs the Assassin
Duke Phillips tightened his grip on the sword as the assassin stepped fully out of the shadows.
The man was tall and lean, his body wrapped in dark leather armor that absorbed light. A thin dagger rested loosely in his hand, yet the pressure coming from him was sharp and biting. Phillips exhaled slowly.
"So you're the one meant to distract me," he said, his voice calm but heavy.
The assassin tilted his head slightly. "An honor," he replied coldly, and vanished.
Phillips moved instantly.
CLANG!
Steel met steel as the assassin reappeared at Phillips' side, dagger slashing toward his ribs. Phillips twisted his waist and blocked with the flat of his blade, sparks flying between them. The assassin did not stop. He ducked low, rolled beneath Phillips' swing, and stabbed upward.
Phillips kicked the ground and leapt back, the dagger barely grazing his armor.
