Chapter 40 - Chapter 40: The three generations of Spider-Man gather together

After Harry and Mary Jane left, Maguire immediately called Kingpin, asking him to find Garfield's address.

An hour later, the information came through. Kingpin's influence in New York was truly extraordinary—Garfield's home address was sent directly to Maguire's phone.

After saying a quick word to Uncle Ben and Aunt May, Maguire got in his car and drove off.

Garfield's home was also in the 13th Street district, though a bit farther from where Maguire used to live.

Soon, he arrived at Garfield's doorstep.

Looking at the house, Maguire thought,

*"This looks exactly like my place. Could it be that this Garfield also has an Uncle Ben and Aunt May?"*

With curiosity, he rang the bell.

After a moment, the door opened—an elderly woman, about Aunt May's age, stood there with a puzzled look.

"Hello? Who are you here to see?"

Maguire thought,

*"Unbelievable, there's an Aunt May here too."*

He smiled.

"Hello, I'm here for Garfield. I'm his classmate."

Her eyes brightened.

"Oh, come in! You must be the one they were waiting for—Holland's already here."

Maguire's mind clicked.

*"So Holland has already linked up with Garfield. Looks like today all three Spider-Men are finally meeting."*

He nodded politely.

"Thank you," he said, stepping inside.

In the living room, an older man was reading the newspaper. Seeing Maguire, he greeted warmly.

"You're Garfield's classmate too, right? Go on upstairs, they're already up there."

Maguire smiled back and headed upstairs.

The layout was uncanny—it was just like his old house, Garfield's room in the exact same spot as his own had been.

He pushed the door open—

Inside stood Garfield and Holland.

Garfield lit up with joy.

"Maguire, you actually came! This is great!"

He quickly introduced him.

"This is the guy I told you about—Maguire. Just like us, bitten by a spider and gained powers."

Then he gestured to Holland.

"And this is Holland. The one who appeared on the Brooklyn Bridge that day."

Holland stepped forward with a smile.

"Hi, I'm Holland. Nice to meet you."

Maguire smiled back.

Garfield, still excited, asked,

"Maguire, how did you find us? I've been looking for you for days but couldn't track down your address. We were just about to check the school archives when you showed up."

"So, what do you need me for?" Maguire asked bluntly.

Garfield leaned forward.

"We've been thinking… since the three of us got our powers the same way, why don't we form an alliance? Fight crime together, stand for justice."

Maguire rolled his eyes. The way they spoke reminded him of a Peach Garden Oath.

"I told you before—I'm not interested," he said flatly.

"Don't be like that," Garfield pressed. "We even came up with a name—the Spider Alliance. I thought of it myself, took me a long time."

Maguire sighed.

"Garfield, if that took you a long time, I worry about your IQ."

Holland suddenly spoke.

"Maguire, there's something my uncle once told me. Maybe if you hear it, you'll change your mind. He said…"

Before he could finish, Maguire cut in.

"With great power comes great responsibility, right?"

Holland froze, stunned.

"H-how did you know? That's exactly what I was going to say."

Maguire held back a groan.

*"Because all three of us have heard it, that's why."*

"Forget that for now," Maguire said. "That Lizard you two fought at the school—did you catch him?"

Garfield shrugged.

"Then it's settled—you're in. We didn't catch him. He dove into the water, and neither of us can swim."

Looking at Garfield's shameless insistence, Maguire muttered helplessly,

"Forget calling him the Lizard—that's Dr. Connors."
