~MY SWEET WAFFLE~
The day felt unusually quiet, just Raffy and I. I was sitting on the edge of the bed, trying to focus on my university assignments, but Raffy had decided to help me. He leaned closer, explaining a tricky concept, and I couldn't quite get it.
"See, you're doing it wrong here," he said, a playful frown on his face.
I crossed my arms, pouting. "Why are you scolding me? I'm trying my best!"
His eyes softened, and for a moment, I saw him imagining something entirely different—like I was his wife, and he had accidentally upset me. "I'm just trying to help… it's like when your wife gets mad at me and I have to make up for it," he murmured, teasing but with a hint of tenderness in his voice.
I frowned, annoyed but secretly touched. He smiled gently and said, "It's been ages since I went anywhere fun… Wateen, will you come with me?"
I hesitated, shaking my head. "I… I don't know…"
"Oh, come on! I'll make it worth ," he teased, smirking and leaning in slightly. I could feel my resolve weakening, the corners of my mouth betraying me with a tiny smile. He continued, promising little rewards, playful dares, everything to persuade me. In the end, I gave in.
The next day, we were ready. I wore a light, flowing outfit, perfect for the cool breeze, and Raffy wore his usual black jacket over a white shirt and trousers. The bike gleamed in the sunlight, and for the first time, I felt a strange mix of excitement and fear.
We mounted the bike, and immediately, it started moving faster than I expected. I clutched his waist tightly, heart thudding, the wind tangling my hair around my face. "Raffy! Slow down!" I yelled, laughing and gripping him as if my life depended on it.
"Not until you admit you're enjoying this!" he shouted over the wind.
We rode together, talking, laughing, and teasing, until we reached the amusement park. Our first ride was the roller coaster. Screams filled the air, mingling with our laughter. Then came the Ferris wheel, the drop tower, and the spinning teacups. Each ride left our hearts racing, our laughter echoing across the park.
We even tried the haunted house, where I clung to him so tightly he joked that I should be my own stunt double. And in between, we had cotton candy—he teasingly called it my "doll's hair"—and we playfully hit each other's shoulders as we laughed.
Night fell before we realized it, the amusement park now shimmering with lights. Raffy suggested heading home, but of course, I protested, insisting on one last ride. After that, we returned to the bike.
Raffy tried starting it, but it wouldn't budge. He tried over and over, muttering under his breath. I laughed nervously. "How long is this going to take?"
"Just… two minutes," he said, a fake confidence in his voice. Minutes passed. "Okay, now it's clearly not starting. We'll have to walk," he admitted, a hint of mischief in his tone.
"Dangerous bike, huh?" I joked, kicking it lightly. "Let's just book a cab!"
We pulled out our phones—no signal. Even Raffy's didn't work. "Let's walk a little further; maybe we'll get a signal," he suggested. And so we walked, chatting and laughing, down a quiet road covered in pink leaves. The cold wind whipped past us, and the moon shone like a guardian in the sky.
I jumped to catch falling leaves, laughing as Raffy easily caught one and handed it to me. "Make a wish," he said. I closed my eyes, whispered it silently to myself. He did the same, holding his leaf gently in his hand.
The road was empty, save for us, our laughter, the sound of leaves crunching underfoot, and the cool wind tousling our hair. I had never seen a moon so bright, the stars scattered like diamonds across the sky, the air scented with the first hints of autumn.
Then, we stopped. I jumped again, to catch another leave, i closed my eyes and made a wish again. When I opened my eyes, Raffy was on his knees before me, a small box in his hand. A diamond ring shimmered under the moonlight. My breath caught, heart hammering so fast I thought it might burst.
"Look at us… just us, here, under this endless sky," he began, voice trembling, eyes locking with mine. "I've tried to tell you a thousand times in my head, in a million ways, but nothing ever felt enough. Nothing ever seemed worthy of you. And maybe no words ever will… but I can't hold it in anymore.
You are my first thought in the morning, my last thought at night, the smile I chase in every impossible day. You are every song I've ever loved, every dream I've dared to have, every quiet hope I've kept secret. And I swear, if life tried to pull me away, if the world tried to take you from me… I would fight, I would stumble, I would rise… but I would always come back to you.
Because no matter what, I will choose you. I will choose you when it's easy, I will choose you when it's hard, I will choose you when I am tired, when I am scared, when I am wrong. I will choose you over and over and over, not once, not twice… but every day for the rest of my life. And even after that, if I had another life, another world, another chance… I would find you, and I would choose you again.
So… will you let me? Will you let me be the one who gets to choose you, love you, protect you, and wake up next to you for every sunrise, under every sky, for every forever that exists?"
I had no words. My lips trembled. Tears streamed down my face. I knelt down with him, nodding, unable to speak. He gently took my hand and helped me stand. I reached for the ring, letting him slide it onto my finger. The diamond sparkled in the moonlight, wind whipping our hair around us.
"From today, Wateen… no one else can touch you. You're mine. All of you, just mine," he whispered, pulling me close. I cried into his shoulder, overwhelmed with happiness, disbelief, and love. He brushed my tears gently, whispering promises that made my heart flutter wildly.
After a few moments, I pulled back slightly, smiling shyly through tears. "My wish… my greatest wish has finally come true," I murmured.
I said to him while opening my arms with a cute pouted face "I'm tired my dear Rafito"
He laughed softly, lifting me onto his back. "Then you're my sweet waffle," he said, giving me a piggyback ride as we walked back, laughing under the moon, the wind, the leaves, and the stars. "The bike wasn't broken, you know. I just wanted to make sure my sweet waffle agreed to come with me."
I laughed, hugging him tighter. "You're impossible!"
"And you love it," he teased, spinning me gently as we continued our magical night walk, the world fading away until only the two of us remained.
