Author note: I created an auxiliary chapter with pictures of the characters

As we got closer to Oreburgh city, my nose crinkled, all we could smell was the smoke coming from the factories. Oreburgh city was a mining town that expanded into a whole city, near the mountains there were huge factories.
At our walking speed it took us an hour to reach the city gates. Earlier when we were looking at the city from the cliff, we saw the big red roof of the pokemon center so we had a general guess for the directions. However seeing it from miles away vs being in the city was completely different.
After asking a few people for directions, I breathed a sigh of relief. While we made our way to the pokemon center I noticed aside from the occasional Bronzor, the average citizen either had a Geodude, or a Ryhorn hauling cargo behind them. The gym here was most likely rock not steel.
The pokemon center was the standard cookie cutter building including a nurse Joy. Due to us all sleeping in this morning it was late afternoon, we still had some daylight left.
Now in the first true city after Jubilife I wanted to call home, after booting up the phone like before it was my dad's Shinx who answer but this time he didn't look too happy to be answering the phone. Unlike before I could see my parents in the background watching TV. They'd probably booted him off the couch to make him answer the call.
Once they realized it was me they came over and we started talking, except the part about James I caught them up on recent events, with not much to add on my end my parents filled me in about the talk of the Twinleaf town.
Mainly Tina's rampage, the sugared up demon had almost assaulted an officer, graffitied half the town, raided a sweets shop, and picked a fight with my dad's Shinx. Which ended as well as you could expect. Shinx, not wanting to hurt her, held back enough to only to knock her out.
I was surprised, looking at my mom I raised an eyebrow, "how come it was Shinx who dealt with Tina, and not Vanillite?"
It was my dad who responded, "Vanillite tried, but Tina thought he was ice cream and licked him. Not expecting that Vanillite froze up, and before he could respond Tina chucked him out the window. This made Shinx her next target and she got shocked." My dad said while looking smug.
The good news is since Tina didn't hurt anyone all she had to do was clean up the graffiti. Though her parents grounded her. While we were talking my dad disappeared for a bit, when he returned he brought a copy of the newspaper then pushed it into the camera so I could see.
The image on the front was after Tina got shocked, her pink and blue hair strands looked hilarious standing all up. We all laughed at the picture, though after the incident they checked on her to make sure was okay and she was fine.
Tina didn't even remember what happened or that Shinx shocked her, according to her the last thing she remembered before she woke up was tearing open a packet of fun dip.
We continued talking for a few more minutes before they wished me good luck in my upcoming gym battle then we both said goodbye.
The last thing I saw before my mom ended the call was of dad moving Shinx from his spot off the couch so they could watch tv. A pity Shinx looked like he had just gotten comfortable, now he had to move.
With Oreburgh city housing one of the major gyms of Sinnoh I wanted to go exploring, maybe pick up a souvenir or two for my parents.
Walking back out into the main lobby of the pokemon center I didn't see either Noah or Kyra, figuring they were doing their own thing I walked outside of the pokemon center.
"Get ready world, because here I -", sniff, sniff
During my declaration to the world I pointed straight at the gym, and in doing so I smelled my un-washed clothes.
"Great, now I have to do my least favorite chore."
Five minutes later
After changing into the least smelly clothes I had, I tossed everything else into a washing machine in the pokemon center. Quickly selecting the correct settings then adding some detergent it was ready. Closing the door I leaned over and pressed the start button.
"Okay, now I can go."
BAM, "OW, MOTHER FU-, my stinkin toe!!"
I was in pain, I had smashed my toe in the doorway. Because I had to do my laundry I had changed and currently wasn't wearing shoes.
The sharp stinging pain shot up my leg as I plopped down on the cold tiled floor of the laundry room. I had one of my hands holding my reforming foot while the other was banging on the washing machine.
Despite having a body that could turn into water for some reason I could still feel pain whenever I stubbed my toe. Even when I jumped off the cliff yesterday I was only left feeling dizzy for a moment, this hurt more than jumping off a cliff.
Yanking open my bag I grabbed my water bottle then swung my head back as I drank it all down. The moment I finished drinking my foot reformed, looking good as new.
Sighing, I sat there for a few minutes contemplating my life's choices.
Seeing as I had nothing better to do and some time to kill I wanted to see Oreburgh city, with a grunt I pulled myself off the floor.
With the pokemon center being near the center of the city, naturally there were tons of tourist traps. From where I was standing I could already see several overpriced goods surrounded by bustling crowds.
There were the standard key chains and I love Oreburgh city shirts. Nothing really caught my eye, for a while it was just random trinkets. I eventually settled on buying a cute looking bag for my mom to keep her tools while she worked in her garden.
Because I felt bad for Tina I picked out a Sylveon plushy for her. While looking at the doll I found a neat camera. Smiling at the sales person I paid for both and went on my way. Before I knew it I had already walked past most of the tourist section of the city.
Looking around I realized that I was getting closer to the mining area of Oreburgh city. This came with a plus, the closer I got to the working area the more restaurants I found.
Midway through walking I smelled it, a smelly smell that smells, smelly. My body reacted before my mind registered the smell.
I honestly have no idea how fast I ran, pretty sure I broke some record, oh what am I thinking of course I did and all for something I have been craving ever since I came to this world.
"One order of carne asada fries with no sour cream and a burrito please." I said to the stunned guy taking orders.
"Uhh, ssshure, coming right up here's your ticket." He said while handing me my order number.
Where I was in Oreburgh city I had no idea, all my attention was a small trailer attached to a Rhyhorn. Aside from the guy that took my order in the trailer there were two others in there cooking. Around me there were some miners who were off the clock, they all looked confused and wondered where I had come from, I just ignored them.
Off to the side there was a cooler filled with condiments, grabbing some limes I moved over to the curb. While it did feel cold it felt comforting. Wanting some company I controlled the water in my body and pushed my team's pokeballs out from my hands then released them.
"Petilil"
"Piplup"
"Hey you two, want to try something?"
They both nodded, "Piplup you're going to have to wait a bit, but Petilil move a little to the side." Petilil looked confused but did as asked and moved away.
Now no longer next to Piplup I poured some water at her feet/bottom then crushed some of the limes above the puddle. She still looked confused but seeing me motion for her to get in she did.
With Petilil being a plant, she couldn't eat regular food, instead having to rely on the sun for nutrients and water for well water. I could tell the moment she started absorbing the water, because she started making happy noises.
Piplup, hearing Petilil, got curious and dipped a flipper in the puddle, then brought it up to her beak. Instead of letting the water drip into her mouth she stuck her whole flipper in, unlike Petilil who enjoyed the sour taste, Piplup did not.
Her entire face scrunched up as she gagged, before she could notice I grabbed my newly bought camera and snapped a picture. She noticed the camera but was more preoccupied with still trying to get the sour taste off her tongue.
For some reason she was also using the flipper she dipped in Petilil's puddle. I was trying so hard not to die from laughing as I recorded a video, did Piplup know what a camera was? No she did not, would she find out? Eventually.
While I was laughing at Piplup's Misery I heard my order number being called, getting up from the curb I moved over and picked up my order.
Plopping back down with my team I unwrapped the tinfoil around the burrito, then jammed it into Piplup's mouth. At first she panicked, then she realized that the sour taste was being replaced by another, while it wasn't her Buizel bites it still tasted good.
Seeing Piplup munching on her burrito I smiled, then turned to my box. Upon opening it I saw the greasy, cheesy, the definition of unhealthy carne asada fries.
Not wasting anymore time I dug in, the moment the first bite hit my tongue I cried, in the land of manual labor I had found heaven. Previously when my group was in Jubilife I kept a lookout for any Mexican restaurant but couldn't find any.
Thinking it over, I was curious what is the Mexico of the pokemon world?
Once I was done with my first order of food I continued ordering. After a while the wrappers started to form a pile.
I sighed in happiness, as I patted my full belly, a food baby. Leaning back I imagining what a fully matured food baby would look like, however my random thoughts were disturbed by a commotion.
Coming back into focus the commotion was coming from the kitchen/trailer suddenly the door burst open and a Skorupi with a mini sombrero on came zooming out.
In its tail there were dozens of wrapped burrito's, employees and other customers seeing the pokemon trying to escape. They released their own pokemon creating a circle around the Skorupi.
"Get that thing out of here!!"
"This one constantly causes us trouble, and it's time to end it once and for all."
The other patrons constantly kept heckling the poor thing as I listened, I got a general idea of the situation.
The Skorupi kept zooming around trying to find an escape route, as it did some of its loot dropped. Seeing an opportunity I rushed over to help and jumped over a short Nosepass. Now I was standing in the middle of the circle, at first the Skorupi acted defensively, before it could do anything I turned around to face the crowd.
"What if I pay for all of Skorupi's damage?"
At first everyone around me got mad that I was defending the pokemon, but when I offered to pay their originally angry expressions slowly disappeared. It was the head cook that responded to me, "sorry little girl, while paying for that one would help, we want it gone"
"Give me a minute", I said, then I turned around to face the Skorupi, "do you want to come with me?"
The Skorupi was looking at me as if I had grown a second head. Most people in this city didn't want bug types so it had grown used to people not wanting it, another thing was most people that looked like the girl in front of him only wanted cute pokemon.
Seeing that I had its attention I opened my satchel and pulled out two pokeballs, and placed them in front of the pokemon, motioning to the first pokeball I started talking, "I'm a pokemon trainer meaning my goal is to make the pokemon on my team stronger.
Motioning to the other pokeball, "or I can release you somewhere else where you can do whatever you want, so do you want to come with me or be released?"
Skorupi took one one look at the angry crowd, then without hesitation bumped the first ball, after a few seconds the ball clicked. Would I mind having a new pokemon? Of course not I was still building my team so the more, the merrier, plus this one came with a funny hat.
"Yes! Yes! Ye-", midway through my celebrations Skorupi's ball opened and it collected all of his scattered loot.
The people surrounding me seeing that their problem would go away all recalled their pokemon and settled down. Like I promised I paid for everyone's meal so no one was angry anymore.
Squatting down to Skorupi's level I started talking to it, "first are you a boy or a girl? Move to the left if you are a boy and move to the right if you are a girl, he moved to the left.
"Okay a boy, then meet my other two pokemon, Petilil, and Piplup." My other two pokemon had already come over to me when the crowd dispersed, hearing me they all introduced themselves to each other.
Since we were all full and Skorupi had his loot I let him dump it all in my bag, except for a plate of tacos he kept out to eat as he followed me back to the pokemon center. During the entire journey I was skipping, I had finally caught a pokemon.
I was so happy I didn't even realize I had already arrived at the pokemon center. Before I left earlier in the day I had booked a room for our group.
"Hey guys guess what, I caught a new pokemon!"
"Really, what is it?" Noah asked while getting up from his bed.
"Is it a ghost type?" Kyra called from the bathroom, "no"
After I answered Kyra I moved to the side allowing Skorupi to enter the room. Noah did not know what Skorupi was, upon seeing him he scanned Skorupi with his pokedex, and after a moment he congratulated me.
While I was explaining to Noah how I caught Skorupi Kyra finally emerged from the bathroom, she was also brushing her teeth
KYRA!?"
"What?!"
"Don't move" I said while grabbing my camera, and quickly snapping a picture of her. Both Noah and Kyra were confused, both wondering why I freaked out. Floating in the corner of the room Misdreavus spawned some hands and started begging, even giving me the puppy dog eyes.
Without mercy while keeping an eye on Misdreavus I looked at Kyra, "Misdreavus put your tooth brush in the toilet."
Instantly Kyra's neck snapped to Misdreavus as she spat out the toothbrush. Kyra, knowing exactly how to punish Misdreavus, grabbed her pokeball and recalled Misdreavus.
After dealing with Misdreavus, Kyra, still in her rage, glared at me, "why didn't you tell me sooner?!"
I shrugged, "forgot", Kyra still glared at me while Noah played with his Turtwig.
Meanwhile Ghastly was in another corner laughing his non-existent ass off.

Author note - hope you enjoyed the chapter, I am debating whether or not to add a Gible/Garchomp to Hikari's team. Played diamond and pearl and in my final battle against Cynthia mine was so useless, when I eventually won Garchomp never came out of his ball.
