Chapter 22 - Kiana: Huh? Isn’t this character… me?

"What's wrong with that? Just look at the game's theme: 'Fight for all that is beautiful in this world.' Isn't that positive enough?"

"What about being healthy and sunny?"

Mo Li awkwardly scratched his face. This wasn't his fault—blame should go to the actual scriptwriter of the game.

He quickly laughed it off. "If you're arguing with me again, that means your mood has already calmed down."

Himeko shot him a glare.

"Haha… so, how's the voice work coming along?"

With a huff, Himeko nodded. "Chapter Nine is finished."

"Great, let me take a look."

Mo Li pulled up the files and uploaded them onto his computer.

The rest of the girls immediately gathered around.

In this chapter, aside from Himeko, the others only had brief appearances, so they weren't very familiar with the plot.

Now, they were all dying to know—what kind of story could make Himeko cry like that?

As time went on, the girls gradually became absorbed in the unfolding plot.

In the main storyline, Theresa carried the Divine Key and fought against the Herrscher of the Void.

Otto killed Fu Hua… and then proceeded to negotiate with the Herrscher.

The girls already knew this part—after all, when Fu Hua came in for her recording, they had happened to watch from the sidelines.

But back to the point.

In the earlier chapters, Himeko's physical problems were only hinted at vaguely. Players didn't pay much attention, assuming she was just injured.

But in the newest Chapter Nine, her condition was made explicit.

It also revealed the fate of the Valkyries of Schicksal.

To put it simply: an ordinary Valkyrie's lifespan rarely exceeded thirty.

On one hand, battling Honkai beasts was extremely dangerous. On the other, using Honkai energy to fight meant their own bodies were gradually corroded by it.

Himeko had already been a Valkyrie for many years. In the game, when Kiana called her Auntie, she really wasn't wrong.

Her body had already been heavily corroded by Honkai energy.

If nothing unexpected happened, she didn't have much time left.

Just when the girls began worrying about Himeko's condition, Fu Hua—who should've been "dead"—suddenly appeared, offering her a vial of serum.

It was said this serum could neutralize the Honkai energy in Himeko's body and slow down its corrosion.

But once injected, Himeko would lose her Valkyrie powers and gradually return to being just an ordinary woman.

At this, the girls felt relieved. Himeko might lose her powers, but at least she would live.

Yet the story told them… they were thinking too much.

Himeko didn't use the serum to save herself. Instead, she handed it to Tesla to make a special drug capable of fighting Herrschers.

As for herself, she donned Schicksal's fourth-generation Godslayer armor, preparing to face the Herrscher of the Void head-on.

With the Gem of Haste embedded in the armor, Himeko, an A-rank Valkyrie, was actually able to hold her own against the Herrscher for a time.

In the end, thanks to Himeko's sacrifice and distraction, the others managed to use the weapon Moonlight Throne to repel the Herrscher.

And so, Chapter Nine concluded.

But after watching it, the girls were left even more puzzled.

Weird… with this plot, why would Himeko cry?

As if hearing their thoughts, Himeko spoke up. "There's a CG animation after this… I cried when dubbing that scene."

"Ohh~ so that's it."

"Boss, hurry up and show us the clip!"

"Yeah, I'm dying of curiosity!"

Surrounded by a group of pretty girls, their faint fragrance carried on every breath, Mo Li felt his mood lift instantly.

Without hesitation, he clicked on an MP4 file.

Meanwhile, at a high school campus.

Kiana sat in class, absentmindedly twirling her pen.

The teacher's lecture droned in her ears like some kind of hypnotic spell.

Suddenly, she felt someone tug at her sleeve.

Turning her head, she found herself staring into a pair of mischievous eyes.

"Hu Tao? What is it?"

Hu Tao furtively glanced at the teacher up front before sliding her phone over.

"Kiana, doesn't this anime character look just like you?"

On her phone was a picture.

The photo showed a stunningly beautiful girl.

Her long, snow-white hair was tied into twin ponytails, and she wore a white, skintight combat suit. On her face was a silly yet adorable smile.

At first glance, Kiana was dazzled, surprised by the girl's beauty.

But the next moment, she realized the face looked… oddly familiar.

Wait a second—didn't this look too much like her?

Sure, there's always a gap between 2D and 3D, but those blue eyes, that white braided hair… wasn't this practically identical to her?

She almost cried out, but managed to hold onto a shred of reason—this was still class.

"Hu Tao… is this… me?"

"I was wondering the same thing! I found this meme in our class group chat." Hu Tao swiped to the next picture. "And this one—doesn't it look just like your Mei-sis?"

"Ehh!! It really does…" Kiana's shock grew. She quickly pulled out her phone and scrolled through the group chat herself.

Seeing her so flustered, Hu Tao explained in a whisper:

"I heard from classmates that these are characters from some game. Not only does one share your name, but she looks exactly like you. That's why they posted it in the group."

"The first time I saw it, I nearly jumped out of my skin."

"A game?" Kiana's eyes lit up.

She remembered—wasn't her older sister in the game industry?

"Could it be… sis used me as a model for a game character?"

With that thought, Kiana hurriedly searched for information about the game.

And when she saw the word MiHoYo, her eyes sparkled with joy.

"So it really was made by my sister…"

"Eh? That game was made by your sister?"

Kiana nodded furiously, her heart sweet as honey. "MiHoYo Studio was founded by my sister and her friends."

"I never thought… she'd actually put me in her game." At this point, even Kiana, normally so brash, blushed shyly.

"No wonder… these past few days, when I walked with you, people kept giving us weird looks." Hu Tao finally understood. "Turns out, it was because of this game."

Kiana grinned. "Hu Tao, want to come with me after school? We can go check out my sister's game studio."

"Sure~! And while we're there, help me ask your sister if she can make a character based on me!" Hu Tao's curiosity was fully piqued.

What kind of character would she be in a game?
