Chapter 66 - The Past of Hatake Yusuke

Chapter 66 – The Past of Hatake Yusuke

"Teach me now," Tsunade said firmly.

"Are you sure about this?" Yusuke asked, raising an eyebrow as he glanced at her. The scent of alcohol still lingered around her.

"Don't worry," she replied, eyes sharp and unwavering.

Yusuke saw the determination in her gaze. He sighed lightly but didn't object. It wasn't something dangerous, after all.

"Armament Haki."

Both of his hands slowly turned jet black, wrapped in a dense, hardened energy. He placed them on Tsunade's shoulders, letting a foreign power—different from chakra—flow into her body and vanish within.

"What was that?" Tsunade looked puzzled, staring at her arms where the energy had just disappeared.

"Nothing alarming. You now carry the seed of Armament Haki. But unlocking and controlling it will require your own effort."

Yusuke explained the basics. In the world of One Piece, nearly anyone had the potential for Haki—but only a few could truly master it.

To his surprise, Tsunade managed to coat her hands in Armament Haki on her first attempt.

Then again, it made sense. She was a gifted kunoichi, physically powerful, and as a medical ninja, her chakra control was near perfect. While her Haki was still at a basic level, Yusuke had no doubt she'd improve rapidly.

"How does it feel?" he asked.

"Weird… but amazing. My body feels tougher, and my strikes are heavier."

Tsunade looked at her hands, clearly fascinated by the new power.

"That's just the start. I'll show you the next stage later. Let's head somewhere more open."

Yusuke summoned an Air Door.

"Alright," Tsunade replied, flashing him a soft smile that made him freeze for a second.

She noticed. And that made her smile even more. Yusuke quickly looked away, feeling a bit awkward.

The two stepped through the portal into a wide training field.

"Watch closely."

Drawing Enma from its sheath, Yusuke coated the blade in Armament Haki. A deep black sheen spread across the sword, followed by crimson energy streaks that shimmered along its edge.

"This is the advanced form—Ryūō."

"Ryūō… it sounds elegant."

Tsunade watched in awe.

Yusuke swung Enma horizontally. The slash, without any chakra, split the ground in front of them in a clean arc, tearing a deep trench into the training field.

"This is pure Haki. No chakra, no jutsu. Enma is strong, but this… this lets me destroy targets from the inside."

"Amazing…" Tsunade murmured.

"Wanna give it a try?"

"Of course! Armament Haki!"

Tsunade coated both fists and then slammed the ground.

A shockwave erupted. The earth cracked violently, rubble and dust flying everywhere.

"Hey! You didn't have to go all out!" Yusuke said, stunned.

"I didn't! That was only like… thirty percent of my strength," she replied, looking equally surprised.

"Thanks, Yusuke."

She suddenly leaned in and planted a kiss on his cheek.

He froze.

"Taking advantage of me while thanking me, huh?" he muttered.

"You bastard! I'll kill you!"

She raised a fist.

"Waaah! Light-Speed!"

Yusuke's body flickered into golden light and vanished from view.

"Coward! Stop using that Light-Speed technique!" Tsunade yelled, chasing after him.

"Then stop using Monster Strength!" he shouted back.

"Get back here!!"

"You're pretty fast, using Soru like that. But against light? Still too slow."

He teleported again with a grin.

"AAARRRGH!"

"Fine, fine! I won't use Light-Speed again."

"Good! Now take this!"

Tsunade charged with a punch.

"Fire Fist!"

Yusuke launched a massive flaming fist to intercept her.

Tsunade activated her Haki, focused her chakra into her arm, and punched straight through it, scattering the flames with sheer force.

"Tenrō Kyaku!"

She leapt high and dropped a devastating kick.

"Whoa, that's rough! Light Elementalization!"

Yusuke became light and phased through her strike. He had avoided using Fire powers or the Tremor Tremor Fruit—he didn't want to hurt her.

And maybe, deep down, he never wanted her to get hurt.

"I give up! Your powers are too annoying!"

Tsunade landed, breathing hard, and sat on the ground.

"Haha! Giving up already? You started it, you know," Yusuke said, flopping down beside her.

"Yeah, yeah. Your dodging's just unfair… you can turn into freaking light."

"Want the secret?"

Yusuke smirked. "Armament Haki can hit my real body—even in elemental form."

"What?! Why didn't you tell me earlier?!"

"You didn't coat your Tenrō Kyaku in Haki. And I read your movement, so I phased before you hit."

"Tch… I'm still not used to fighting with Haki. My bad," she admitted.

"Eh, whatever. It's late. Let's head back."

"Let's go."

"But… you have to carry me home. No Air Door," she said sweetly.

"You're so lazy! Why me?"

"Carry me, or else," she pouted.

Yusuke groaned. "…Fine. Climb on."

"Yay~!"

She jumped on his back, pressing her body tightly against him.

Yusuke walked slowly under the quiet night sky, Tsunade peacefully resting on his back.

Before long, she fell asleep.

When they reached her house, Yusuke gently laid her down on her bed.

Just as he turned to leave—

"Don't go…" she mumbled in her sleep.

"…Alright."

He pulled up a chair and sat beside her bed.

Silently, he brushed her hair back, gazing at her sleeping face.

She looked so much like someone he used to love in another life—soft, radiant, kind. But back then, he'd been nothing—just a poor man who chose to leave for her happiness.

"…Forget it. That was another life. I'm not him anymore."

He closed his eyes.

"I'm just… Hatake Yusuke."

And that night, he fell asleep by the side of the woman who now filled his heart.
