Chapter 166 – Indra
"White Snake Sage, allow me to introduce myself. I'm Hatake Yusuke," Yusuke said casually, both hands stuffed into his pockets.
His tone was lazy, indifferent—showing not a shred of reverence for the ancient serpent before him.
"I've heard of you from Orochimaru," the White Snake Sage replied in a deep, resonant voice.
Her enormous body coiled atop a stone dais, her posture relaxed—eerily reminiscent of the Great Toad Sage from Mount Myōboku. "But… you're nothing like how Orochimaru described you."
"Oh?" Yusuke raised a brow, eyes glinting with curiosity. "What's different?"
"Orochimaru spoke of you as a young man of remarkable talent," the Sage said slowly. "But he failed to mention that your power exceeds human limits. You are… the strongest human I have ever seen. Peerless."
"Hahaha, of course I am," Yusuke replied shamelessly. "I am, after all, invincible."
The Sage's slit-pupiled eyes narrowed, studying him closely.
Then Yusuke spoke again, his tone soft yet cutting. "But I'm stronger than Indra… and that actually surprised me."
At that name, the Sage's pupils constricted sharply. A dangerous light flickered in her gaze before she suppressed it.
"Indra?"
"Don't play dumb," Yusuke said with a faint smirk. "I've come too far for you to hide anything now."
The White Snake Sage was silent for a moment, then spoke calmly: "Leave us."
The four snake maidens who had been standing by the cave walls bowed and slithered away without a sound.
"Now," she said, her golden eyes locking on Yusuke, "state your purpose."
"I want Indra's body," Yusuke said bluntly. "Since you were once his summoning contract, I assume it's here."
"Impossible!" she hissed sharply. "I will never hand over Indra's remains. Forget it."
"Relax," Yusuke replied lightly. "I'm not here to steal anything. I'm here to help you."
"Help me?" Her tone turned wary.
"I can let you meet him again—just once."
The Sage froze. "You're serious?"
"Of course. In fact…" Yusuke leaned forward slightly. "I can also tell you the truth behind the split between Indra and Ashura."
The Sage's eyes trembled. "You… know about that?"
She still remembered Indra's final words—about a shadowed man pulling the strings from behind the scenes. Even on the verge of death, Indra had thought not of revenge, but of his brother, Ashura.
He had been called cruel, but never foolish.
As the progenitor of Ninjutsu, Indra's intellect had far surpassed even his own strength. He had known—something dark was at work. A "man in black," manipulating fate itself.
Before his death, he had asked the White Snake Sage to uncover the truth. Centuries passed… and she never found it.
And now, this man—this human—claimed to know?
"So?" Yusuke asked gently. "Let me meet him, and I'll answer every question that's haunted you since that day."
"…Can you truly do that?" she asked, doubt thick in her tone.
"If I were lying, I wouldn't have come all this way," Yusuke said with a faint smirk. "Besides, if I wanted to deceive you, I could just read your memories."
The Sage let out a long hiss that sounded almost like a sigh. "…Very well. Follow me."
Her body expanded, scales glimmering under the pale light as she transformed into her full serpent form. Sliding along the cavern wall, she pressed her head against the stone. The rock shifted, revealing a hidden chamber.
They entered. The air inside was cold and ancient. At the center lay a flat stone altar—and upon it rested the body of a young man with sharp features and long black hair, his face eerily resembling Uchiha Madara.
"I used Senjutsu to preserve his body in this state," the Sage explained softly.
"Oh… so this is him," Yusuke murmured, eyes narrowing. "Ōtsutsuki Indra."
"Even his corpse radiates power."
He lowered his blindfold, revealing a faint circular pattern glowing behind his eyes—something only he could see.
A normal Reanimation Jutsu would never suffice to revive a being like Indra.
His chakra had been reincarnated within Sasuke, and his soul had long departed the Pure Land.
But Yusuke had something no one else did—a fragment of Indra's chakra, extracted from Sasuke himself.
A black sealing circle spread beneath him. From a spatial rift, Yusuke pulled out something pale and amorphous—White Zetsu's body. He placed it at the center of the seal.
"Edo Tensei."
The White Zetsu let out a distorted scream as its form was enveloped in glowing paper talismans.
Within moments, the body morphed into that of a young man. Long dark hair. Sharp eyes. A godlike presence.
When those eyes opened, the entire chamber shook.
A wave of divine pressure erupted outward, cracking the stone walls.
Yusuke only smiled.
"...Is that truly you, my lord?" The Sage's voice trembled.
"White Snake… is that you?" Indra's voice was low and calm, filled with distant authority.
"Yes, my lord," she whispered, bowing deeply until her head touched the ground.
Indra glanced around, assessing his surroundings. "So this is… not life. I've been summoned. My soul… is bound here."
"Correct," Yusuke replied, stepping closer. "I used a special summoning technique to bring you back temporarily."
Indra's gaze shifted toward him. "Who are you?"
His pupils spun into the familiar pattern of the Three Tomoe Sharingan.
"I told you already—I'm the one who summoned you," Yusuke said with an exaggerated sigh. "At least hear me out before glaring at me like that."
"Do you think your technique can control me?" Indra said coldly. Chakra surged violently around him, shattering a portion of the sealing marks beneath his feet. "Don't delude yourself."
"Control?" Yusuke's lips curved into an arrogant grin. "Don't misunderstand. I don't need to control you."
"Because you're too weak for that."
"...Weak?" Indra's tone sharpened, his pride ignited. "You're digging your own grave."
He closed his eyes for a moment—then opened them again. His pupils twisted, forming a rotating star.
The Mangekyō Sharingan.
Ōtsutsuki Indra—the first heir to the Sage of Six Paths. The progenitor of all Uchiha. His eyes weren't just Sharingan—they were pure manifestations of divine power.
"So this is the true Mangekyō Sharingan," Yusuke murmured to himself.
"Even Madara's Rinnegan pales before its purity. It's a shame… that your mortal body couldn't withstand it."
Indra's gaze hardened. "You talk too much, human. Who are you really?"
Yusuke smiled faintly and removed his blindfold once more.
A pair of radiant blue eyes glowed like sapphires under sunlight.
"Those eyes…" Indra muttered.
They weren't Byakugan, nor any form of dōjutsu he'd ever known. Yet something in them felt… familiar.
"You want to know what they are?" Yusuke asked softly. "Then earn the right to find out. Impress me—and I'll tell you everything. But in return, you'll tell me where you sealed the true source of your eyes' power."
Indra's expression turned icy. "You're far too arrogant."
Lightning crackled around him. Blue and violet sparks danced across his skin as his chakra swelled like a storm.
"Oh, I'm waiting," Yusuke said with a grin. "Show me your full power. Don't hold back—I won't die."
"Because I…" He raised his hand. "...am invincible."
"Amaterasu!"
Black flames erupted from thin air, engulfing Yusuke entirely. The eternal fire roared, swallowing everything in its path.
The entire chamber trembled as the flames consumed stone and air alike.
But Yusuke didn't move. He stood still within the inferno, the black flames writhing harmlessly around him—like shadows licking the surface of glass.
His expression didn't change. His eyes, calm and unbothered, simply watched the fire burn.
Indra's frown deepened. "Hmph. So all your words were empty after all."
And yet—deep down, something told him this man was far from ordinary.
