Chapter 7 - Distractions come knocking

Alexander worked through the day as Verila slept. When he began to notice some structure to the language it was his turn to sleep as well. The runes seemed to work similar to logographic languages and the runes symbolize meaning. The way each line curves and where dots are placed seem to form phonetics around a central 'image'. The image is usally a set of repeating lines or simple shapes. For example wind has three curved lines and then two dots above it and a slash to the bottom left.

Alexander needs more words to brake down the full language and learn how to write it but he feels close to it. He puts his quill down and moves to the bed. Verila's face is still uncovered from the shadows and he assumes the rest of her is aswell. She looked peaceful underneath his covers and he was certain to join her. It had been two days already and they had made so much progress.

He could feel hope that he would be able to make his own circle and revolutionize magic. He knew it would partly be because of this grey elf in his bed. Alexander thought he would have to thank her somehow. When we are done, he promised himself. Whatever she wanted, no matter how big, he would give it. But first sleep.

He slowly creeped into his own bed, carefully lifting the covers so she might not feel the lifting of the comforter, and so he might not see anything. No matter how attractive she was that was something he would treat sacredly. Not that it matters anyway, when I have true power, everyone will want me again. And by then it will be my choice, not theirs.

He cautiously slips under and presses his head against the pillow. They were a couple feet away from eachother, but their warmth intermingled under the blanket and he quickly fell asleep. For a moment she rustled, grasping her dagger tightly but as quickly as it came her face lulled back into security.

Verila was up before him. She was sitting on his couch reading one of the many books he kept in his study. However this time he couldn't see her reactions, her shadow clad form was back, and this time he hoped she was wearing clothes under it.

"Oh.. you're up? Sorry to keep you waiting." Alexander politely says in his half asleep state. It was early morning and he knew that their sleep would be strange the next few weeks. It will have to be something they both got used to.

Alexander was half naked, he just had his pants on from the other day, and he needed to change. He went behind a wooden room divider that he had gotten from his mother as a gift. He threw off his clothes and before he could reach for a new pair, Verila had passed him his clothes and a note with some words on it.

'I looked at your breakdown, It's good. I helped.'

"Really? Thank you. I'll look over it in a moment." Alexander shouted over the wooden divider as he slipped on his clothes. He slowly fastened his shirt sleeves and left his collar loose. He wouldn't need to worry too much on any fabric mishaps.

When he stepped out, Verila was waiting for him by his desk. She was sitting with her legs crossed and fingering through some of his paper work. She had her eyes on one of his many journals except this one had some personal things. Things about his recent discoveries. His thoughts on what his magic could really be.

He rushed forward and slyly put his hand over where she was reading, hoping she hadn't gone too far he drew attention to what happened yesterday.

"I hope you wore something under that skin tight shadow. Unless you want me to see you naked again." She shot daggers at him and let go of his journal. Verila would remember that especially when she had just given up on teasing him again. "Now, let's see what you came up with."

After a few moments Alexander realizes she broke down some of the other runes he hadn't gotten too. The script was starting to form. "So these symbols mean rock, this means river and that means soul.. The runes relate to nature and hold deeper meanings. Is this something elves discovered long ago?"

She shook her head again, but this time as she sat above him, wrote down something new.

'Only rumors,' She wrote. 'Similar to elven and draconic script. Old.'

Alexander pondered. Maybe runes were the original language and elven and the lost language of dragons were what came from it.

"Can you decipher this all if we finish the experiments?" Alexander looked up at her. Verila reached down and cupped his chin with her shadow clad fingers. The shadows made small claws towards the tip of each finger. He felt them on his neck.

She nodded yes. Then wrote something again. 'What will I get out of this?'

Alexander smiled lightly and stood up. If she could do this for him. Cut down his time. He would give anything. He had watched her just as much as she had watched him. Alexander knew she wasn't just helping him because of his father's orders. He also knew that someone this strong didn't need to take orders from this failing family. Something kept her here.

"I will free you. Whatever it is keeping you here and then maybe," He put out his hand, "Then maybe we could even become friends." It wasn't out of naivity he suggested that. Alexander knew the loneliness one felt when you were different. When no one could relate to you. Verila looked at his hands and ran through his words. To be free, that meant many things to Verila, things Alexander didn't completely understand.

She reached out her hand and shook his. Her mask faded and she mouthed, 'Deal friend.'

As they smiled at each other at the budding alliance between them Alexander heard a knock at his door. A very familiar knock and then a sweet honey filled voice.

"Alex, I'm coming in." Violet called out through his door and as the large wooden door creaked open Verila rushed into his shadow. Alexander didn't think his mother didn't know, but maybe it was a secret. Maybe something he could use to his advantage one day.

Alexander turns around and sits casually at his desk with some papers in his hands. His thick chest pokes through his shirt and sits regally in among his research. His strong jawline is tight and he slowly looks up from his papers to greet her. For a moment Violet is taken aback by her son's beauty. The light behind him from his bedroom window seemed to surround him.

"Hello, Mother. How can I help you?" Alexander asks.

Violet walks up to him in a satin silver dress that matched her hair. Her ears had the same emerald earings she had gotten when she married Torres Vi Tarende. Her charms were different from Verila's. She was bustier and a silver chain fell down her chest and into her cleavage. She was softer than Verila, not as tone, she had the body of a mature woman. Soft wide hips, large butt and thick thighs. Her thin waist made the satin silver dress hard to look at. It was clear Alexander got his beauty from her.

She was also the reason most of the staff leaned mainly towards women. Torres had struggled enough to win her over and didn't wish to struggle to keep her as well.

"I wanted to see you, Alex. You've been locked in for two days again and only eat when a maid brings you something." She moved closer to him and reached her hands around his neck. She always pulled him down into her hugs. She pulled his head down to her chest. Although he wanted to groan he let it happen. Her large chest engulfing him ear to ear, nearly suffocating him and breaking his back in the process. "Can't a mother worry?"

Alexander pushes back and looks into her soft grey eyes. "Of course Mother, but did Father not tell you about my experiments?"

Violet quickly rolls her eyes, "Yes, he did. However your father doesn't check on anyone unless it's at dinner. I care about you a little more than that." She hugs him again even tighter. "Plus you will be leaving soon and then I won't see you unless its for breaks. You'll be gone four years."

Alexander struggles to talk through her breasts,"Hm-Yes, but Hm-you'll have, Hmm-Ana!"

"Stop it honey, that tickles." Violet says as she releases him. "Ana is so little and your Father has had me in charge of her education until the next ceremony. It's not the same." Her eyes dart around the room. "So what are you working on? Holed up in here."

Alexander blocks her eyes from the research behind him. Especially the other hand writing and grabs her by her hand and waist. He gently begins leading her out.

"It's not ready. Now I love you Mother, but I need to continue. I promise when I am done, you will be the first to know." Alexander guides her out and through her pouting she says she loves him too.

He closes the door behind her and puts his head against the wall. Alexander turns around to see Verila smiling behind him. Her smile tears into his chest. Her toned body teasing him with every fiber of her being. She was getting her revenge quicker than she thought. She waved her hand back in forth with a note firmly between her fingers.

He rolled his eyes and grabbed the paper. 'Mama's boy. Do you want my tits too?'

Alexander snatches the note and tosses it. Verila chuckles softly.

"It's time to get back to work." Alexander grabs his notebook and sets up the experiment. Now that distractions were over it's time to figure out what the rest of these runes do.
