Chapter 296 - Chaos at Hun Ling Mountain

Yao Ranran nodded knowingly, "Something like this has really happened. Sect Master Han, I understand your feelings. That thief is right now at the bottom of Hun Ling Mountain. We can lend you a hand and capture that thief alive!"

Han Huijun cupped his hands in gratitude, "Fairy Yao Ranran, we misunderstood you before. Thank you for letting bygones be bygones and helping Wuxiang Sect in this critical moment!"

Yao Ranran waved her hand, "Sect Master Han, there is no need to thank me. Go stop that thief quickly!"

Han Huijun nodded, "I will make that thief pay the price!"

He moved with incredible speed, leaving afterimages in the sky.

Mu Xin watched his back with interest and raised an eyebrow at Yao Ranran, "Fairy, that thief is also a Wuxiang Sect master. Perhaps the two of them even know each other."

Bai Qingwu's mouth dropped open, "Then you are doomed. Soon they will join forces to kill you!"

Yao Ranran blinked, "If they join forces against me, I will throw you out first. Once I watch you die, then we will take action to resist."

Bai Qingwu choked on her words and dared not provoke her further.

Mu Xin stroked his chin thoughtfully, "The chance of those two joining forces is small. If that young sect master knew someone from Wuxiang Sect had come to the Lower Realm, he would not have come alone."

"Mo Rui has abandoned Wuxiang Sect?" Yao Ranran considered this possibility.

Mu Xin nodded at her.

Suddenly, the earth beneath Yao Ranran and the others shook violently, cracks spreading like a spiderweb in all directions.

Yao Ranran threw out the flying boat, carrying the panicked Bai Qingwu to the bow.

Mu Xin landed naturally on the flying boat, staring at the chaos below.

"Roar—"

Mu Xin's pupils contracted, "There are really ferocious beasts!"

Yao Ranran frowned, "The treasures haven't appeared. Could those beasts have already eaten them?"

Mu Xin: "..." Even now, she hasn't forgotten about treasure hunting!

Bai Qingwu trembled in fear, her eyes quickly scanning the scene below.

"Could it be that there were never treasures here at all, only the four ancient beasts sealed away!"

She shouted in terror.

Yao Ranran glanced at her and tilted her head, thinking, "You make a valid point. I would rather these treasures never existed than hear that they were devoured by beasts!"

Bai Qingwu hugged the bow post silently. She and Yao Ranran were clearly thinking about two very different things.

Mu Xin rubbed his nose. When Yao Ranran said that, a chill ran down his back. It was as if he had offended her somehow. A cold, murderous intent swept through him, aimed at the cracked earth below.

"Where are the treasures of Wuxiang Sect?"

Mo Rui searched frantically among the fallen stones.

Ahead, Han Huijun shot a sharp sword directly at Mo Rui's chest.

Clang!

Mo Rui easily snapped the blade, but before he could even widen his grin, a massive blood-red maw suddenly attacked, severing his lower body, the crimson tongue licking the blood from its jaws.

Han Huijun's view was blocked by the colossal creature.

His pupils trembled, an expression of disbelief flashing across his face.

"This is… an ancient ferocious beast!"

"Roar! Roar! Roar!"

The beasts' furious roars erupted one after another behind Han Huijun.

He turned his head and saw two pairs of eyes larger than lanterns staring straight at him.

Mu Xin said, "Mo Rui is not dead yet. We can rescue this young sect master so the beasts focus only on Mo Rui."

Yao Ranran looked at him with mild surprise.

Mu Xin rubbed his nose, "Weren't you the one who said you wanted to help him?"

Yao Ranran silently stared below.

She had said that, but it was a lie to save time…

"You are right. I did say it."

After a moment of thought, she decided to save Han Huijun.

Mu Xin watched Mo Rui's fleeing figure, a sly smile spreading across his lips.

"Serves him right!"

The flying boat quickly carried Han Huijun into the sky.

Mu Xin kicked him a few times to wake him.

"You are the new sect master of Wuxiang Sect? That thief won't get away alive, so you need not worry about him."

Han Huijun stared blankly at him, then at Yao Ranran, incredulous, "You saved me?"

Mu Xin sneered, "Who else would it be?"

Han Huijun looked at Yao Ranran, then settled his gaze on Mu Xin, cupping his hands, "Thank you, senior, for saving me. I was blind to see just now that you concealed your cultivation!"

Mu Xin paused, displeased, and pouted.

"Yes, I am your senior, but I am not the one who saved you."

Truly, he just had to mention it! Right now he was relying on Yao Ranran to survive. How could he have the mood to save Wuxiang Sect?

Han Huijun stared at him in astonishment, "Senior, you say the one who saved me wasn't you?"

"Exactly. Sect Master Han, haven't you realized? The Yao Ranran standing before you is no longer human!"

Bai Qingwu could no longer tolerate it and half-muttered toward Han Huijun.

Yao Ranran glanced at her coldly.

Bai Qingwu immediately shut her mouth in fear and curled up.

Han Huijun stared at Yao Ranran in shock, "Fairy Yao Ranran… you cannot possibly be…?"

"I am not a ghost cultivator." Before he could finish, Yao Ranran guessed what he intended to say.

Han Huijun was even more confused.

"Then he said you're not human…"

Mu Xin shook his head heavily, "She is not human. She is a prodigy! Only a prodigy could save you from the jaws of the Four Ancient Beasts. Look below at Mo Rui—do you think he could escape alive?"

Han Huijun followed his gaze downward.

A faint rainbow light struggled through the four beasts' encirclement until it fell into the blood-red maw of one. Only then did the four beasts calm down.

"He was eaten!"

Han Huijun's pupils dilated, horror written all over his face.

"Yes, Mo Rui died terribly!" Mu Xin smirked, without a shred of sympathy.

"Wait… senior, what did you say his name was?"

Han Huijun stared at him, stunned.

Mu Xin smiled mischievously, "Mo Rui—"

He deliberately dragged out the last syllable so Han Huijun could hear it clearly.

"His name is Mo Rui? Could he also be a cultivator from the spirit world?"

Han Huijun's heart skipped a beat. Could it be what he feared…

Mu Xin smirked, refusing to answer.

Yao Ranran gazed at the four beasts below, murmuring, "He is just your Wuxiang Sect's former sect master. Sect Master Han, don't you recognize him?"

Like a thunderbolt from a clear sky, Han Huijun fell backward in disbelief, "Mo Rui… really is Wuxiang Sect's Mo Rui?"

Mu Xin smiled slyly, "Yes, your former ancestor Mo Rui. As a former sect master, he should know better than you what treasures lie below!"
