Lin Feng had mentioned the zombie universe before, but only casually. What he was referring to now was completely different.
For example, Spider-Man—what if instead of shooting webs, he shot veins…
She wasn't Spider-Man, but she was Spider-Woman. Imagine if instead of a web shooter, she emitted veins from her own body. How disgusting would that be?
And she'd have to eat people.
She'd have to endure the gnawing hunger within her body, even devising devices to travel to other universes to feed. Could such a universe not be utterly hopeless?
She began to believe Lin Feng. It was truly despairing.
Meanwhile, Bruce Banner looked down at the diary and was equally shocked by its contents.
"This… this is bad. Big trouble." Bruce Banner stared at the diary, stunned.
A zombie universe? Entire universes turning into zombies?
He thought: if such a thing truly happened, he'd probably go insane. Even with the Hulk's protection, survival would be uncertain.
Especially Thanos as a zombie…
What did that imply?
It meant that even Thanos, such a terrifying entity, could not resist becoming a zombie.
He knew well how terrifying Thanos was—just the three core Avengers together weren't even a match. That alone demonstrated his power.
And now, the diary revealed that even someone so strong had succumbed to zombification? How could they possibly have any chance of victory?
Hank Pym?
He was known as a top scientist in the field, though he hadn't made major breakthroughs in years. But now… what terrifying thing could Hank Pym be bringing from the Quantum Realm?
At this moment, everyone who possessed a diary felt it updating simultaneously. Their first reaction was shock.
Especially Thor, in Asgard, who read the entries and gasped.
Thanos was an existence so terrifying that even after Thor had leveled up and comprehended the essence of the Thunder God, he still couldn't defeat him.
And now, even Thanos had become a zombie?
Then what about himself?
Wouldn't he, too, become a zombie?
Five-Stone Thanos? Even such a being couldn't stop it?
"This…" Thor read the diary's record, muttering. "There are even more terrifying worlds. Becoming a zombie isn't scary enough—they can retain intelligence. Father, are there truly such beings in this world?"
Odin furrowed his brow but said nothing. Even with his vast knowledge, he had never seen a world—or a future—like this.
Had the world truly become so disastrous?
"This… zombies? Such unscientific creatures exist?" Tony Stark also stared at the diary in disbelief.
In his mind, zombies from films and stories never made sense—they didn't need food or energy, moving endlessly like perpetual motion machines, guided by nothing but instinct, devoid of intelligence.
What defied science even more was that there existed a universe where zombies could retain some awareness but could not resist their hunger, devouring everything in sight.
And in that universe, there was a version of himself who had used his intellect to build a device to travel across universes to feed. Could it even reach this universe?
The mere thought made his hair stand on end. Terrifying.
"This… is going to be big trouble," Tony said.
He realized the crux of the problem: if it were any other universe, he might not worry. But one of the universes was a zombie universe—and that might be reality.
That meant Ant-Man, Hank Pym, could pull something out of the Quantum Realm that would trigger this.
"That old man… capable of causing this much trouble?" Tony muttered to himself.
He began to understand: the timeline might branch in two directions—one the "correct" timeline Lin Feng believed in, the other potentially leading to the zombie universe. Both outcomes had a probability.
If it reached that point, he might not be able to withstand it.
It was scarier than being a clueless ordinary person. Knowing so much brought fear.
Thinking this through, he activated his projection device and began today's meeting.
Everyone exchanged glances, a little awkward.
They were still reeling from the fallout of the Avengers' internal conflicts. That revelation had been a huge shock.
Bruce Banner broke the silence: "Everyone, look. This is terrifying. If we all became zombies, consuming everything… that future is horrifying. Tony might even create a device to feed in other universes."
Nick Fury rubbed his temples. He knew some things about the Wasp; according to prior SHIELD files, she had completely disappeared. Whether she was dead or alive wasn't stated—people assumed she was gone, but Hank Pym refused to give up.
Now they faced a new possibility: she wasn't dead but trapped in the Quantum Realm, with a future chance of rescue.
And the scary part? It was like opening a blind box—you never knew what kind of being she'd become.
Schrödinger's Wasp.
She could be normal… or she could carry a virus capable of turning the world into a zombie universe, as Lin Feng had described.
If this universe truly became a zombie universe, what then? Humanity would be doomed—haven't they already seen Thanos infected?
As for other intelligent beings, he didn't care. Only humanity mattered. How desperate could this world become?
So desperate that even Lin Feng would consider cutting this timeline entirely.
If someone as powerful as Lin Feng struggled to survive, others were doomed.
"This Hank Pym… my father told me he was a cantankerous old man," Tony said. "Pym Technologies is a ridiculous joke anyway."
Tony didn't hesitate to vent. He remembered his father had conflicts with Hank Pym—seemingly dating back to SHIELD.
"What about this Ant-Man? Fury, didn't you find out that Ant-Man's tech comes from Hank Pym?" Tony asked.
Fury explained: "Yes. That Ant-Man is Scott Lang. Currently, he seems unrelated to Pym personally. A double-master's degree talent, but forced into crime to support his family. He's in custody. His suit technology, however, is Pym's. Previously, Hank Pym was a SHIELD agent and developed Pym Particles, allowing humans to shrink or enlarge—hence 'Ant-Man.' The Wasp was his wife, but after a mission she disappeared. We thought she was dead… but she's in the Quantum Realm."
"Huh, double-master forced into crime? What's happening to this country?" Hawkeye remarked.
Double-masters are highly talented anywhere, yet couldn't support themselves and resorted to crime—a bitter irony.
Tony snorted: "After deindustrialization, only finance matters. Skilled industrialists are useless, even double-masters or double-doctors."
He, as an industrial capitalist, disliked current policies—they damaged interests to satisfy Wall Street.
"It seems they'll become involved eventually," Natasha (Black Widow) commented.
Fury nodded. She was familiar with Scott Lang and Pym Technologies—Hank Pym had been ousted from the board, now controlled by Darren Cross.
Tony saw the recurring trope among geniuses—clinging to secrets, refusing to reveal inventions—and felt Lin Feng was poking fun at him.
That was indeed him: fiercely guarding his armor secrets.
Though he reminded himself that he had contributed the Arc Reactor for clean energy development, so maybe Lin Feng wasn't mocking him here.
"Can someone explain the Quantum Realm? Why do I not understand it? I'm a college graduate, and I feel illiterate!" Hawkeye complained.
Bruce Banner replied: "It's hard to explain. Simply put, think of it as the microscopic world, a very, very small universe. Science currently has no clear definition, and its existence is debated."
