"I am the last Avenger!" said the second-generation Wasp, Hope van Dyne.
No sooner had she spoken than Bruce Banner was suddenly taken away—but not by a zombie. The one carrying him off was none other than Spider-Man, Peter Parker.
"Don't eat me, don't eat me, don't…" Bruce Banner cried in panic, thinking he had encountered another zombie.
"Hey, calm down!"
Peter Parker's voice rang out.
"I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!"
"Really? Well then… what happened to all my neighbors?" Bruce Banner asked once he calmed down.
Spider-Man didn't answer, only leaving a silhouette against the setting sun.
Those watching the scene outside the frame breathed a sigh of relief.
This world, it seemed, had not deteriorated entirely—there were still some survivors. On a global scale, humanity might still endure, and civilization could perhaps be rebuilt.
At least it appeared the virus didn't spread through the air, which gave some hope. Some isolated islands and mountainous regions could still harbor human life.
"These zombies retain some of their former abilities. Could they still be intelligent? I suspect their hunger merely masks their intelligence," Tony Stark said. "Lin Feng mentioned that in one zombie universe, the zombies, driven by boundless hunger, devoured everyone. Even that universe's zombie version of me could construct a device to cross spacetime—showing that intelligence might not be absent."
"What worries me most," Tony continued, "is whether these zombies, if allowed to evolve, could develop their own civilization. Just as humans created civilization to survive, what if zombies, intelligent ones, eventually manage to domesticate humans as livestock, just like we do with animals?"
Tony's words sent chills down everyone's spines. A civilization of intelligent, powerful zombies—besides eating humans—would be indistinguishable from human society.
If they reached the stage of raising humans for food, Earth would become terrifying indeed.
"The evolution of life and intelligence is full of randomness. Who knows if zombies might follow such a path?" Tony added.
The more everyone thought about it, the scarier it became. Humanity's future could be grim.
"Look at how fast Thanos' minions turned into zombies—ten seconds, maybe? That means the virus spreads extremely fast. Not just Earth creatures, even aliens—and probably Thanos himself—aren't safe," Tony said. "This also implies that if the virus evolves intelligence, it could quickly take over human civilization and form a zombie civilization surpassing ours."
The viewers barely had time to process this when the video continued, with the Observer narrating:
"Like many apocalyptic worlds, this one was once full of love and hope. Dr. Hank Pym, searching for his long-lost wife, entered the Quantum Realm two weeks ago!"
On the screen, everyone saw Hank Pym piloting a quantum shuttle into the Quantum Realm.
Even Tony Stark could not help but show a hint of admiration. The technology was beyond his current capabilities.
In the Quantum Realm, macroscopic physics no longer applies. Any outcome is pure speculation, yet Hank had built a shuttle and entered it.
"This is advanced tech on par with—or even exceeding—the Arc Reactor," Tony muttered.
"But in this universe, due to quantum virus infection, Janet van Dyne's brain was damaged. Thirty years later, when she finally reunited with her husband…"
The scene sent shivers down everyone's spines. Janet van Dyne removed her mask, but her face was gone—she had become a zombie, far more terrifying than zombie Tony Stark. Almost skeletal, she was worse than ordinary zombies.
"Oh no… an accident!"
Everyone saw Janet van Dyne pounce on Hank Pym, biting and tearing indiscriminately. After thirty years without food, her hunger was extreme.
When the quantum shuttle reappeared, disaster had fully struck.
"Hope van Dyne's long-awaited family reunion turned into a nightmare…"
Instead of her parents, the second-generation Wasp faced two zombies.
This confirmed everyone's suspicion: these zombies were intelligent. Otherwise, how could they operate a shuttle to return to Earth? But intelligence could not overcome their terrifying hunger—they would devour everything.
"But how are they surviving in the Quantum Realm? Is there air? Are oxygen atoms enormous there?" Bruce Banner asked.
"Regardless, they survived, and now it's reality. We need to prepare for this possibility," Nick Fury said.
On the screen, the first-generation Ant-Man and Wasp leapt at their daughter. Hope van Dyne narrowly escaped using her suit's shrinking ability, but her boyfriend, Scott Lang—the second-generation Ant-Man—was not so lucky. He was completely devoured.
"At this point, only turning into a zombie keeps you safe. Zombies don't eat each other. Once you become a zombie, you're part of their group," Hawkeye, Clint Barton, explained. "So… is it better to turn into a zombie or just die?"
Everyone nodded, realizing that zombies only eat humans. Once transformed, humans become part of their kind and are no longer eaten.
Whether you survive depends on how quickly the zombie consumes you. Too fast, and you die before turning. If slow enough, you can still become a zombie.
The footage grew even more shocking: within 24 hours, the entire northwest Atlantic region had fallen.
Everyone was puzzled.
Northwest Atlantic? That's essentially North America—USA, Canada, and Mexico.
All infected in just one day? The speed was absurd. Over 20 million square kilometers conquered in a day. Even airborne transmission couldn't spread that fast.
Zombies roamed everywhere, and the Avengers were deployed. Not only the original Avengers, but also new heroes, including Black Panther, T'Challa.
"Ironically, it was the Avengers' heroism that caused this tragedy," the Observer continued.
"Follow my lead!" Captain America shouted—but he was immediately bitten by the miniaturized first-generation Ant-Man, Hank Pym.
Starting with Cap, the other superheroes soon fell victim. Almost none could resist the quantum virus.
"If the strongest heroes are infected, the rest of humanity is doomed—unless they know the rules of survival."
The scene left everyone silent. The breach had been caused by the Avengers themselves.
Their arrogance led a small team to rush in first, without understanding the situation. Once Cap was bitten, disaster spread to all.
Ordinary humans turning into zombies might summon the Avengers for help—but if the Avengers themselves became zombies, who could handle it?
"No, we need a contingency plan. If humans can turn, what about a robot army?" Tony Stark thought.
