After speaking with Commander Veylor, Magnus failed to convince him to head north — he was, after all, practically a stranger in the Evadene kingdom. Though he came from Vlandia, Veylor refused to accept Magnus's protests and Magnus could not risk telling the commander the truth. They must never learn that Rowan or rather Johann was a runaway prince and an omega disguised as a beta to serve as a knight.
Even as a Grand Duke, he couldn't risk confronting a commander of another kingdom as it could spark a war with Vlandia and that risk was far too great right now.
"If only we had an official appointment in this kingdom, we might already be north," Luke complained when Veylor told them to get out of his sight.
Seeing Magnus— their liege—forced to swallow his pride before a stranger made the men furious and if not for Magnus's presence, more than one of them would have gladly taught Veylor a lesson with the flat of a gauntlet.
