Chapter 24 - Chapter Twenty-five: The Last Battle

The Abyss trembled as Samael rose from his throne of fire. His wings unfurled, stretching across the void like the sky itself was aflame. Each step forward sent shockwaves through the shattered ground, chains rattling like war drums.

Maxwell stood at the front, sword blazing silver, his storm-gray eyes locked on the Archdemon. Gabby took her place at his right, golden wings burning like banners of light. Anthony, battered and bloodied, gripped the Codex with both hands, its glow pulsing like a heartbeat.

Samael's laughter rolled through the Abyss, deep and mocking. "Three against one? How quaint. Do you not see? The Abyss is me. Every stone, every flame, every breath of shadow bends to my will. This is not a battle. It is my coronation."

Maxwell raised his sword, his voice fierce. "Not while I'm breathing."

"Then breathe your last!"

The Abyss erupted. Samael's fire stormed outward, waves of flame crashing against them like an ocean. Gabby soared upward, golden blade cutting a path through the inferno. Anthony raised the Codex, his prayers shattering the fire into shards of light. Maxwell charged, his silver sword leaving arcs of storm in the air.

Their clash was thunder and apocalypse. Maxwell's blade met Samael's burning hand, sparks bursting like meteors. Gabby struck from above, her golden sword carving across Samael's wing, searing it white-hot. Anthony's prayers tore chains of light from the Codex, lashing around Samael's form, slowing his advance.

But Samael only roared louder. With a sweep of his arm, he hurled Gabby across the field, her body crashing into molten stone. With a surge of flame, he shattered Anthony's bindings, the priest collapsing to his knees, blood streaming from his mouth.

Maxwell was left alone before him, sword trembling in his hands. Samael loomed, his burning eyes alight with triumph. "You are mine, boy. You are fire and storm, but you are still my blood. Strike me down, and you become me. Resist, and I devour you. Either way, you fall."

Maxwell roared, silver and crimson colliding in his veins. His sword pulsed violently, storm clouds swirling across the Abyss. "I'm not you!"

He lunged, his blade meeting Samael's chest. Fire and storm collided, the Abyss shuddering as cracks split across its chains. Samael staggered but struck back, his flaming wing tearing across Maxwell's body, sending him sprawling.

Gabby rose again, golden light blazing, and dove at Samael with fury. Anthony, coughing blood, forced the Codex open once more, his prayer cracking the air: "In nomine Domini, ligetur malum!"

Chains of holy fire erupted, binding Samael's arms, forcing him to his knees. Gabby's blade slashed across his throat, golden fire spilling like molten light.

Maxwell dragged himself to his feet, sword burning silver in his grip. He stared at Samael, the whispers clawing at his mind, begging him to strike the final blow. His father's voice echoed — pleading, commanding, promising.

One strike, son. One strike, and the fire is yours. Be more than me. Be greater.

Maxwell raised his sword high. His storm-gray eyes flickered — silver, crimson, silver.

Gabby shouted, her voice breaking. "Maxwell! Choose who you are!"

Anthony cried out, his hands shaking as he held the Codex open. "Now, boy! For all our souls — end him!"

The Abyss shook, the chains rattled, Samael's fire blazed like a sun. Maxwell screamed, his voice raw with fury and defiance, and drove his sword down.

The silver blade pierced Samael's heart.

For a moment, all was silence. Then light exploded outward, a storm of silver, gold, and crimson tearing through the Abyss. The chains shattered, fire howled, the very void screamed as Samael's form split apart in a roar of rage and agony.

Maxwell fell to his knees, sword buried in the ground, his chest heaving. Gabby staggered beside him, wings burning but steady. Anthony collapsed, the Codex dimming in his arms, tears streaking his bloodied face.

Samael's voice faded into the void, no longer mocking, no longer commanding — only whispering, broken, as the Abyss crumbled around them.

This is not the end…

The Abyss split apart. Fire and shadow unraveled into nothing. The last chain broke, and the void consumed itself.

And then — silence.
