Chapter 51 - A Barred Entrance

Everyone Breathed heavy.

But before anyone could utter a word.

I spoke with a urgent tone. Breathing heavy

"We must.... We must keep moving, Other creatures should have heard the noise."

Everyone nodded and in desperation we started moving.

The adrenaline in our body kept us moving, The thought that we attracted something was terrifying.

***

I don't how much we covered during night but, we climbed up as much as we could without stopping.

The mountain slope narrowed, forcing us into a rough, uneven line. Rain mist clung to their clothes. The soil slid under boots. Trees leaned at odd angles, their trunks warped like bone twisted under pressure.

Lily limped heavily between Phoebe and Lex, each supporting one arm. Her breath came fast, shallow poison creeping deeper.

Vivi hovered beside her, hands trembling from exhaustion.

"Tell me if your vision blurs," she murmured.

"It's already blurred." Lily forced a crooked smirk. "But that might just be your face."

Vivi huffed through her nose relief disguised as irritation.

I slowed my pace to walk closer to Sara. my legs had became a mess with blood and while the fight with the knight I somehow had a cut my leg. She noticed instantly.

Her voice softened. "Solace, you should focus on yourself. You're limping too."

I blinked. "I am?"

Sara gave me a faint, motherly smile

"You are. Come here."

I stepped closer reluctantly. She knelt despite her own fatigue-and adjusted the torn cloth around my knee, tightening it carefully so the cut wouldn't reopen.

"You never complain," she murmured.

Solace looked away, my throat tightening unexpectedly.

"…Thanks," I muttered.

She smiled again

I decided to check on Veyra,

I jogged a little to catch up.

"You okay?"

Veyra didn't look at me. "No."

That was new.

"…Want to talk about it?"

"No."

Also new.

But after a moment, she exhaled through her nose. "Later. When we're safe."

I didn't push. I just nodded.

She glanced at me-just a brief sideways look, and the corner of her mouth twitched.

"You did well earlier," she said quietly. "Good instincts."

Solace blinked. "…Thanks?"

"Right."

She actually smirked.

Even half-poisoned and bleeding, she was still Veyra.

It was close to dawn, we climbed all night despite the exhaustion and fatigue. I was leading the cohort as Veyra was not feeling so well and walked beside Vivi.

As I was climbing I thought about What would happen if we survived this?

'We should have church's attention, We should also be all over the news by now.

Nicole Richards, our principal will also be back to the academy and will be paying close attention to the cohort. They still have tracker on Veyra's watch.

Makes me wonder does this thing have a battery or what? how is it still active?

Setting that aside, If we do get out of this goddamn rock, If we are lucky, Our principal should be there to greet us and if we are unlucky, well forget every artifact we acquired till now. They will also interrogate us about the things we saw. In short we would have difficult time. This is not even including what they would do to Nolan's mother.

I just hope our principal welcomes us with open arms first.

If we get behind Nicole, Then it would be smooth sailing from there. Cause the one thing church doesn't want right now is a suspicion from Nicole.

Right now Church should have spread act of terrorism in the name of Hera across Theon, tensions between the two Kingdoms might be all time high.

I just hope they don't declare war this early. That would be really bad. '

Suddenly something strange happened

While I was walking. I walked into something invisible and hit my head.

I stumbled

"Ow"

"Sol?" Phoebe blinked. "What did you hit?"

I rubbed my forehead and scowled."I don't know. The sky?"

Veyra stepped forward, hand extended.

Her palm pressed against somethingsmooth, cool, firm.

An invisible wall.

Sara's breath hitched."The seal…?"

I narrowed my eyes. "No, A barrier."
