Chapter 61 - First Ray of the Sun

Sarah Leodra died before sunrise.

It happened the way real deaths often do — quietly, in the space between two breaths.

It was sad. She had a large cut on her neck from a sharp object, her blood was seeping, and it was too late at night to notice, she suffered every single second.

Nolan had fallen asleep sitting upright, head bowed over her body, shield flickering faintly around them like a dying lantern. His hands were still stained with her blood. His face still streaked with dried tears. He hadn't meant to sleep. His body simply quit.

Vivi had collapsed beside him, trembling, hands still faintly glowing long after her essence dried up. She kept whispering "hold on, please hold on" long after Sarah was gone.

Lily sat with her back against a tree, eyes empty. She hated the Church. She hated herself. She hated everything.

Lex slumped nearby, arms useless, breath shallow. Phoebe leaned against a rock, blood dried on her lips, looking away from the body because she didn't trust her face.

Solace lay in the dirt, blind eyes open, and his body unmoving.

Something in the world had gone too quiet.

The sun rose from the depth of otherworldly oceans and shone bright.

The first ray of light illuminated Sara's lifeless body.

But then suddenly many footsteps came and with them a Woman who had cascading Silver hair.
