Chapter 17 - chapter 17

Trini POV

I was wandering around the house, checking every room and hallway, trying to find Kai, but he was nowhere to be seen. Even his dimension was empty. Eventually, I found Hope by the pool, lounging on a chair and sunbathing like she didn't have a care in the world.

I walked up to her. "Hey, Hope. I haven't seen Kai anywhere. I checked his whole dimension, nothing. Do you know where he is?"

She took off her sunglasses and gave me a puzzled look. "He didn't tell you? He went back to your home universe, said he was going on a mission for revenge. for your planet, your friends, your family."

"What?" I froze, the words hitting me like a punch.

Hope sighed and sat up a little. "Yeah. I wondered why he didn't want anyone tagging along, but now it makes sense. He just didn't tell you."

I clenched my fists. "Hope… do you have another Multiverse Gun lying around somewhere?"

She raised an eyebrow. "You think I just keep extra Multiversal Travel Guns lying around?"

I stared at her silently.

She smirked. "...Okay, yeah. Of course I do. Honestly, I'm surprised Kai hasn't broken the one he took yet."

Kai POV

"I have to say," Lord Zedd's voice rumbled through the air, metallic and cold, "it was quite a shock to feel Rita's life signature vanish. I couldn't have imagined anyone defeating her."He walked toward me, each step echoing with power, the scorched ground cracking beneath his boots. He stopped just a few feet away, the faint hum of dark energy buzzing between us.

"I'll tell you what," he said. "Serve me, and this little ordeal will be forgiven. A warrior like you doesn't come around every moon."

"I serve no one," I said, eyes locked on his. "Not you, not anyone. I fight for my own cause, and for my family."

"Then die."

His chest pulsed, and a massive beam of crimson energy erupted, slamming into me like a freight train. I was thrown back, crashing through a wall of jagged rocks before finally skidding to a stop. My armor sparked and cracked, but I pushed myself to my feet, coughing through the smoke.

When I looked up, Zedd was kneeling beside Rita's body. His staff glowed with violent energy, and before I could react, that same power surged through her corpse. Rita gasped and rose again, eyes glowing green.

"What the hell…" I muttered.

Then I noticed it, the crystal embedded in Zedd's staff. It shimmered with pure, white energy. My stomach dropped. The Zeo Crystal. No wonder he felt like a planet in humanoid form.

"Great," I muttered. "I find the one guy carrying a world's worth of power. This is gonna be fun."

I raised my hand and summoned my hammer, and threw it at him, and I summoned a magical Circle, my hammer went through it, and summoned hundreds of copies of it.

Zedd raised his staff, conjuring a massive shield that glowed crimson. The hammers slammed against it, cracking the surface, until finally the barrier shattered. The weapons tore through, blasting both Zedd and Rita off their feet.

But Rita wasn't down long. She caught her staff mid-air, channeled a surge of energy, and with Zedd's help, blasted the hammers away in a storm of fire and lightning. Every weapon vanished, except my original hammer. I called it back to my hand, thunder cracking in the clouds above.

The sky went black.

Lightning gathered, swirling into a vortex overhead as I pointed my hammer at them. A storm unlike any I'd ever summoned roared to life, bolts raining down like divine judgment.

Zedd raised another shield, this one burning brighter and hungrier. My lightning crashed against it again and again, shaking the ground, until it finally stop.

Zedd absorbed the last surge of power into his staff, the Zeo Crystal glowing like a small star. "Let's see how you like it," he snarled, unleashing the energy in one devastating blast.

I tried to dodge, but the beam followed, homing in like it was alive. I pushed my speed to the limit, warping through the air, too slow. It hit me dead-on.

And it hurt.

It felt like every molecule of my body was being vaporized and burned from the inside out. I screamed, the world dissolving into light and pain.

I hit the ground hard, the impact shaking the earth beneath me. For a second, I couldn't move. My body screamed in pain, smoke rising from my armor, but I forced myself up. My legs trembled, but I stood.

I drew in a breath, raised both hands, and began chanting. Magic circles ignited all around me, glowing blue, gold, red, and black, spinning in the air like gears in motion. They followed as I rose off the ground, energy surging through every fiber of me.

Then I thrust both hands forward.

Each circle unleashed a barrage of spells, fire, lightning, shadow, light, pure kinetic blasts, every type of magic I could shape poured out in a storm of destruction. The night sky burned with color.

When the smoke cleared, Zedd and Rita were still standing. Damaged, yes, scorched and breathing heavy, but alive.

I didn't stop.

I whispered another incantation, stacking enchantments on myself: strength, speed, senses, regeneration, and even luck. The magic wrapped around me like armor, and my power surged.

Then I let go of every limiter I had.

Energy erupted from me in a blinding flash, my body shifting, transforming flesh giving way to light. My form turned entirely blue, my hair flaring upward like living flame. I was pure energy now.

My true Anodite form.

Magic no longer had limits here. I could feel it in every particle of my being.

I floated back down, touching the ground a few meters from Zedd and Rita.

Zedd tilted his head, his metallic grin widening. "So much power… I've changed my mind. You'd make an excellent battery for me and my wife."

Rita smirked beside him, now clad in sleek black armor etched with runes. "Oh, please, my love, let's hurt him first. For killing me and my Rangers."

"As you wish," Zedd rumbled. His spikes pulsed crimson, his staff now twice the size and thrumming with raw energy. Their combined aura made the air itself shake.

I gripped my hammer tighter. "Alright… round two."

But before I could charge, two flashes of light appeared in front of me.

Trini, wearing her Power Armor, and Hope, standing side by side.

"What the" I started, blinking. "How did you?"

Trini's eyes locked on mine. "Kai?"

"Yes"

Her fist met my face before I could finish.

I hit the ground hard enough to leave a crater. No blood, no damage, just shock.

"Okay…" I groaned, rubbing my jaw. "Yeah, I deserved that."

"You're damn right you deserved that!" Trini snapped, glaring at me. "You should've told me you were coming here!"

"I was going to," I said quickly, "but honestly… I didn't know how your mental state would have handled seeing Rita again."

"That's exactly why you should've asked," she shot back. "I would've told you I wanted to face her. You think I'm fragile? I might not be the most stable person on the team, but I'm not broken, Kai. Don't treat me like some porcelain figurine."

"Understood," I said quietly. "I'm sorry."

She let out a breath, then reached out her hand. I took it, and she pulled me up.

"Good. Now," she said, smirking faintly, "let's kick their asses."

I nodded, but Hope raised a hand, stepping between us."You sit this one out," she said firmly. "If they were giving you trouble in that form, then they're dangerous. Let us handle this one."

"Alright, fine," I said. "I'll admit, they've got the Zeo Crystal, and I underestimated them before. But don't take them lightly either."

Hope cracked her knuckles, her eyes glowing faintly. " I've been itching for a fight."

Trini's armor shifted, forming two sleek, curved daggers in each hand. "And Rita's mine."

Rita smirked, her voice venomous. "Oh, the little Yellow Ranger thinks she can take me? I spared you once, remember? And look how you repaid my kindness. Don't worry, dear, I'll correct that mistake. This time, I'll kill you slow… just like I did your family."

Hope's tone went flat. "Okay, this bitch is done. Kai, sit back. We've got this."

"Alright," I said, powering down and stepping aside. "She's all yours."

Trini POV

I activated my White Sharingan, my vision sharpening instantly. My muscles tensed, energy flooding through my body as I blurred forward.

In a flash, I closed the distance, zigzagging across the battlefield so fast Rita's eyes could barely track me. I slammed my elbow into her chest, the impact blasting us both away from Zedd. We tumbled through the air before skidding to a stop, several meters apart.

Rita wiped the blood from her lip and laughed. "Hahaha… look at you. You've gotten stronger. Too bad you weren't this strong when I killed all your friends, it might've been a fun fight back then."

I fused both knives into a short sword, the blade glowing faintly with energy."My friends, my family, my planet may be gone," I said, voice steady but sharp, "but today, Rita, you die."

She smirked. "I'd love to see you try."

I charged again, my speed breaking the sound barrier. Rita fired off a barrage of energy blasts from her staff; I dodged each one, closing the gap before swinging my sword in a precise arc. She blocked with her staff, countered, and I twisted out of the way, spinning into a follow-up slash.

The blade cut across her cheek, just a graze, but it drew blood.

Her smirk vanished.

Now she was angry.

Now she was taking this seriously.

I activate Mangekyo Sharingan.

This was the first time I'd ever used my ability in a real fight. I'd practiced it in training over and over, but training was nothing like this; this was life or death. There was no room for mistakes.

I took a breath, focused, and activated it.

A blazing yellow aura erupted around me, fire and light intertwining until it completely engulfed my body and sword. The energy burned bright, humming with power that made the ground crack beneath my feet. Then I moved.

I blitzed toward Rita, faster than lightning. She tried to block it, but my sword phased straight through her staff like it was nothing, and I managed to cut her armor, leaving a molten line across her chest plate.

She stumbled back, eyes wide.

"This," I said, gripping my sword tighter, "is my special ability. When I activate my Mangekyo Sharingan, this aura lets me phase through anything and hit anything I want, in other words, you fuck."

Rita backed off, summoning a wall of energy between us, but I didn't give her a chance to breathe. I charged again, cutting through her spells and barriers as if they weren't even there. She stopped trying to block, dodging frantically, every swing of her staff more desperate than the last.

She jumped into the air and hurled a massive blast of dark energy at me. I sidestepped, the explosion lighting up the ground, and hurled my sword like a spear.

But the second it left my hand, the aura around it flickered out. Rita spun her staff and deflected the blade, sending it flying back at me.

She landed, smirking, but I was already in motion. I closed the gap in an instant, catching my sword midair and using the momentum to swing at her again. She blocked, or tried to, but my fist went straight through her weapon, and I slammed my punch square into her jaw.

She hit the ground hard, the impact cracking the stone beneath her.

This fight wasn't over, but for the first time, I could see fear in her eyes.
