Chapter 27 - DG 27: The Red Dragon Princess

This was an adventure belonging to Vena.

But it wasn't particularly complex or fraught with danger.

The story began when the self-proclaimed "magus" girl caught the attention of some people. Their intentions weren't malicious, but rather a relatively friendly approach.

After some time of interaction, these people openly revealed their purpose. They invited Vena to join a mysterious faction known as the [Dark Madonna] and extended an invitation for her to meet their leader: a woman dressed in a black gown, her face concealed by a black veil, obscuring her features. She was strikingly tall, with long silver-white hair cascading down to her calves.

Undoubtedly, this was a woman of high status. She exuded an air of authority, her every gesture radiating an indescribable sense of nobility. In the presence of such an inherently regal woman, Vena, who hailed from a rural village, couldn't help but feel a sense of inferiority.

But this was certainly not the reason Vena knocked her out, tied her up with ropes, dragged her deep into the mountains, and urgently contacted Alaric.

"The mystery within her is practically a Noble Phantasm come to life!"

This statement was no exaggeration or mere rhetoric.

Vena was simply describing exactly what she had seen.

"A dragon."

"I saw a red dragon, imprisoned within her body, constantly roaring."

"This dragon feels strangely familiar, like that girl with the ahoge we met before, yet completely different… The dragon inside her seems to be bound by something, utterly powerless."

At this point, Vena felt a sense of relief.

Thankfully, this woman wasn't as terrifying as that ahoge-wearing girl, whose mere glance could make Vena instinctively want to kneel. Otherwise, the one bound head to toe in ropes right now would likely be Vena herself.

"Ah, she's awake!"

"In any case, please come quickly and take a look. I have a feeling I've caught someone extraordinary…"

Late at night, in an unnamed cave.

The woman named [Morgan] slowly opened her eyes.

"It hurts…"

The dizzying pain in her head momentarily made her forget what had happened earlier. She curled up, instinctively trying to clutch her head to soothe the churning sensation in her mind.

But...

"Huh?"

When the woman struggled slightly and realized her hands were bound behind her back with ropes, it dawned on her that she was in danger.

"Not just my hands... my feet are tied too."

The binding technique was highly professional, impossible to break free from, and the more she struggled, the tighter the ropes became. This was a method Vena had learned from her tribe, typically used for tying up goats.

"Who are you, exactly?"

Realizing escape was impossible, the woman, filled with despair, managed to roll over. Finally, she could see the silver-haired girl responsible for her predicament.

She couldn't comprehend it. She had thoroughly investigated this girl's background... completely clean, with no ties to any factions. Aside from her somewhat absurd physical prowess, she was just a simple village girl, seemingly entirely trustworthy!

So why, at their first meeting, did this girl knock her out with a single punch and drag her to this cave?

"What do you want?"

The pain in her head eased slightly, and Morgan began to question again.

By now, she might have realized that the girl before her had no intention of taking her life. That was good... she had immense wealth, more than enough to buy back her life, which, though worthless, absolutely could not end here.

"Listen, I don't know what price your employer offered you. But if you let me go, I'll give you double!"

"Trust me, there's no one richer than me on this island!"

At this moment, Morgan was grasping at straws.

As the saying goes, wealth should not be flaunted. If Vena were truly a ruthless villain, she would likely torture Morgan into revealing the locations of her hidden treasures and then end her life in a cruel manner.

... Fool, if you die, all your wealth becomes mine!

But on second thought, Morgan's behavior was entirely natural.

The current her was not the [Witch of Britain] of later legends, who would fall into depravity for the sake of revenge. Right now, she was merely a princess of a fallen kingdom, tirelessly working for a decade to prepare for her nation's restoration.

As Vena had observed, Morgan harbored an unimaginably powerful force within her. Yet, this power was constrained by her body, unable to manifest its true strength. The current Morgan was little more than a half-baked magus who knew some magecraft but was barely stronger than an ordinary human.

She hadn't even transcended the boundaries of humanity, so naturally, she experienced all the emotions typical of humans... including despair and panic.

But Vena didn't respond to her distress.

No matter what Morgan said, Vena remained silent, quietly gazing at the night sky outside the cave, as if waiting for something.

She didn't have to wait long.

The island of Britain was small, with even fewer settlements suitable for human habitation. In fact, the cave they were in was part of the same mountain range as the White Dragon Temple.

The only difference was that one was in the northwest, the other in the southeast.

"He's here!"

Sensing something, the girl suddenly stood up, lifting her head higher.

She hadn't yet seen the shadow of the white dragon in her field of vision.

But the wind arrived first.

A gust filled with magical energy erupted from the distance, sweeping through the forest, blowing Vena's hair back like a flowing white ribbon.

"What?"

"What's here?"

Morgan was confused.

She had been talking for so long, and Vena's only response was this cryptic phrase... her heart was practically bursting with anxiety!

But in the next moment.

When a white speck of light appeared in the distance, rapidly approaching, its glow growing brighter and its form becoming clearer...

"W-W-W-W… White Dragon?"

Upon recognizing this "enemy." The Red Dragon Princess's heart, which had been hanging by a thread, finally gave out completely!

"Guh... "

"Just… just kill me!"
