Chapter 44 - Chapter 44

Finally, it is done. What is it? A permanent Physical Enchantment booster. It takes a lot of experimentation and synthetic chemicals to create this one. It is not a high-tier one. It only boosts someone to their peak potential, whether physical, mental, or spiritual.

That means they will have peak mental strength so they can resist the Warp's temptation. Combine it with peak spiritual condition for a Psyker, and they can control their power without hurting anyone, and make it even more potent without a problem of hearing the voice from the Warp.

Sadly, even though I want to strengthen them, I understand the reasoning why the Imperium makes sure they are careful with Psykers. Even with the strongest mental discipline, you can still fall into chaos if you are a regular human.

As for physical strength, it gives the drinker quite a boost. It increases the drinker's durability, allowing them to survive autopistol and some autogun bullets. Not only that, but their bodies also easily adapt to any environment, really quickly. It also makes sure their body do not need that many nutrients to survive, and the same goes for water.

It is not as extreme as Astartes, but the potion is easy enough to produce that it can be given to all Astra Militarum to make them better fighters.

Sadly, it will not work with augmented humans like Astartes. The reason? They have too many implants on their bodies that overwhelm the potion. Even if the potion works for them, the boost will be negligible.

I take the potion and close my eyes. I focus on the potion for a few seconds and open my eyes. I smile a little at the small device in my palm. Turning anything I create into an STC is a very convenient power.

I put the device in my pocket and lean back in my chair, looking at the ceiling of my workshop. Two more days before Robot Girlyman arrives here, and there have been a lot of changes happening in Sanctuary.

For one, the Salamander decides to create a workshop for themselves. When they said they were blacksmiths, I thought they loved making close-combat weapons and armor, right? Well, you are wrong.

It turns out, Blacksmith has another meaning. A blacksmith is someone who can create weapons and armor, and that includes a fucking mecha.

Seeing them creating a Sutherland for their chapter, complete with a massive Heavy-Flamer and Plasma Cannon attached to the mech, is something to behold. They even modify the frame to work with the Black Carapace.

So, yes. They wear a mech like a suit of armor. They are also talking with the local Adeptus Mechanicus regarding modifying the Sutherland to act as some sort of Repair Mech for their ships. It is hard to repair the ship while they are in the void and without any shipyard nearby.

They want to modify the Sutherland to work with the Black Carapace and, instead of a mech, wear it as armor. It will act as Terminator Armor, but lighter, able to fly, and with a better system for attaching repair tools.

Seeing a two-and-a-half-meter-tall (~8.5 feet) superhuman talk excitedly to members of Adeptus Mechanicus is a sight to behold. After a couple of arguments, the Mechanicus decides to ask me for permission because, according to them, only the Omnissiah can determine what needs to be done.

Of course, I permit them to do so. However, I make sure to tell the Salamander to give them the blueprint to the Mechanicus so they can modify some Sutherland to work as repair units.

In the end, both factions are happy with the agreement.

Salamanders receive their Repair Mech, and the Mechanicus will receive the blueprint to be put in their Shrine-Vault.

Speaking of mech, the Mechanicus have already built the Metal Gear Excelsus. They follow the STC to the letter, and when they are done, they regard the massive mech as a Holy Object, well holier than other technology. Why? Well, the enormous machine can produce Nanomachines.

Those nanomachines are used to repair and maintain the massive mech.

It turns out, nanomachines are among the technologies lost from the Dark Age of Technology. At the moment, they are carefully studying the Nano-Forge, as they call it, and making sure they can produce the device separately from the massive mech.

Because the Excelsus contains living quarters, they decide to use the massive mech as their shrine. They are building a shrine to the Machine God on the mech and even fortifying it with all kinds of weaponry. You have heard that the Warlord-Class Titan is called a Walking Church, right? Well, the Excelsus became that to the T.

Other than that, it is also equipped with a repair station for all repair needs. The only thing not on this mech is Manufactorum because the mech's energy and power reactor cannot handle a proper one.

Lastly, the Mechanicus and I have already finished the ship-protection device. I call the device the Shroud Field because it creates an energy field that protects the ship from the warp's influence.

We already sent an escort ship to test the new device, send it to the nearby star system, and bring it back. Other than testing the new device, they are also going there to get more personnel to rebuild the Moebian regiment. Most of the regiment died fighting heretics or were killed because they were heretics. More than half of the regiments are corrupted and turn into cultists, and need to be purged. Because of that, we need to rebuild the regiment.

They should return anytime soon.

Kael, the test ship has returned.

Ah, perfect.

"Oh? Can you see if it is mutated from here, Canto?"

According to the live feed, it does not have any mutation. However, we don't know what is happening inside.

"Right. It requires manual checking, huh?"

Yes

Oh well. At least they arrive just after I am done making the serum. I stand up and leave my workshop, where I can see the Custodes standing unmoving in front of my workshop. Standing near them is my personal guard, the Elite Guardians, composed of the best enchanted soldiers from my augmentation creation.

The Salamander personally trains them in warfare, and while they cannot be compared to Space Marines in experience, they will reach that in a decade or two. Space Marines might not be the most powerful fighters in the world. Hell, even Ogryn can break their spine in two without a problem.

However, what makes them dangerous is their training and hypnotherapy that give them experience and deadliness that no other people can match. Those indoctrinations and conditioning are what make them who they are.

My guardians do not receive those. They are regular people who are trained by surviving the underhive or against gang members. Just recently, they received training from Astra Militarum and the Salamander for the Elite Guardians.

"My lord."

I snap from my thoughts and smile at Rita, the Leader of the Elite Guardian, and my right-hand woman.

"Rita. Come with me. I received the news of the test ship's return, and I want to see if the device is working perfectly."

"Of course, my lord."

We walk to the surface with a group of people following me. The Custodes will always follow me, even when I don't want them to follow me. At least they give me privacy in my room and my workshop. They also only let five of them follow me while the rest secure my private room and workshop.

When they said that they wanted to guard me, they meant it.

I shake my head and walk to the surface. Let's see the result of the experiment.

3rd POV

Realspace bends, and suddenly a portal appears that connects the Warp and the Realspace. It is not only one portal. There are a dozen of them, and from each portal, massive ships come out. The one leading the ships is the largest ship, with a blue and golden color and a golden eagle in front.

This is Macragge's Honor, the flagship of the Primarch of Ultramarine, Roboute Guilliman. He and the others have arrived in the Moebian Domain.

"My Lord Primarch! We received a Vox connection from Atoma Prime! They are from a place called Sanctuary, the replacement of Tertium Hive."

"Who is behind the vox?"

"He said that he is Acting Inquisitor Iven Rannick!"

Roboute nods his head and continues.

"Put him through."

"Yes, My Lord!"

A few seconds later, the vox-caster in front of him lights up, and Rannick's voice comes from the vox.

"Greetings from Atoma Prime, Lord Primarch. My name is Iven Rannick, Acting Inquisitor of Darktide Warband."

"Who is your former leader, Acting Inquisitor?"

"Inquisitor Johannes Nilutan Grendyl of Ordo Hereticus."

"What's happening to him?"

"He committed suicide by Krak Grenade to reject the Daemon of his body and soul, My Lord."

"Very well."

The scribe next to him records the interaction for later. Roboute nods and looks out the window as it slowly opens. He frowns a little and says.

"Why are there a lot of ships around the planet, Inquisitor Rannick?"

"Ah, those ships are refitted for a new protection technology, My Lord."

Belarus Cawl twitches when he hears what Rannick is saying.

"What kind of technology is it?"

"It is a cloaking device called Shroud Field, My Lord. It acts as a stronger Gellar Field, protecting ships from the warp's influence. I do not know the process, but according to Archmagos Generator Felicia Curtius, it acts like a Blank Gene, projected inward rather than outward. I don't know the details. You can ask the Mechanicus who secures the STC in their shrine."

The mention of STC, the tech priest on the bridge, starts to vibrate. Their bodies literally vibrate either from excitement or something else. Maybe both.

Roboute wants to ask more, but decides not to. He came here for a reason, and he needs to complete that reason first.

"I shall ask more later. For now, I need to meet with the Beacon of Humanity."

"Of course, my Lord. Please follow the instructions, and I shall guide you to His Holiness."

Robute frowns at the last part because he knows that whoever this person is now is seen as holy. He knows how heavy that duty is because the warp will change you slowly from the beliefs of others. He needs to teach him how to make sure the warp does not change him too much.
